Are my trainers trendy?

I haven't worn trainers since way before they became fashionable. I'm late 30's but a bit of a style luddite.

Today I dug out a pair of very very old Nikes to go on a walk in. I was shocked at how comfortable they are but would like to know where they score on the awful to cool range.

Not to say this is the only important thing and I will wear them anyway but I have honestly no idea and would value feedback from those in the know 🙏

They do look comfortable, OP, but would have had no clue if they were trendy or not.

I bought some leather Veja trainers for purpose of going to and from my exercise classes, but I suspect they're not trendy at all.

They are functional trainers. Not cool. Why do you care if they are or not?

@Orf1abc

If trendy means appealing to the younger market, then Superga are not trendy. They're a Mumsnet staple uniform piece, they go with pretty much anything and they're comfy. I like them, but I am far from trendy!
Oh yeah this 100%

I have a pair of Veja but then I’m in my 40s so they are fine for me.

I also have Nike space hippies though, so I can do both “mum staple” and actually trendy

I’ve not been without Superga as summer wear for about 30 years now. First pair bought in Italy in 1991.

They look like my noughties gym shoes. The mesh gives that away. Not far back enough in time to have become retro.
Gym trainers are currently bright colours or black with a bit of white. And the mesh isn’t a thing at the moment.
Fashion trainers are currently mostly white leather.
I would still wear them to the gym though.

Trendy means fashionable. It doesn’t mean fashionable amount young people only.😂

Sometimes even people who aren't dedicated followers of fashion want something a bit up to date, especially if treating themselves to something new.

And yes I think OP was wondering what's the latest thing for adults not teenagers!

I have happily been wearing 1980s and 90s trainers because I have more money (well a little) to buy fancier ones than I had then.

I love retro trainers. OP if you like the ones I posted earlier you'll find they come in all sorts of fun colours.
