What foundation do you use?

I’ve been using Clinique Superpowder double powder in matte beige for years but I think I’m falling out of love with it.
I’m 41 and find it’s started to slip off my face by mid-afternoon and I look really shiny.
I’ve always used powders as I’m not keen on the feeling of thick liquid foundation but I feel like I might be missing a trick.
Please share with me your favourites.

Are you using a primer or a fixing spray afterwards? They can help quite a bit

Laurie01 · 19/06/2021 21:43

I used Clinique City Block which is a tinted moisturiser with the loose powder for years. Now use Trinny London, fantastic products.

mynameiscalypso · 19/06/2021 21:47

I have become a convert to the Eborian CC cream. It doesn't feel like I'm wearing any foundation but it makes my skin look so much better than when I did used to wear foundation.

tappitytaptap · 19/06/2021 21:58

Ooh good thread. I use Estée Lauder doublewear but as I’ve improved my skin care routine and am getting a bit older (36) find it a bit too heavy. I saw Sali Hughes recommend no 7 hydra luminous recently - anyone used it?

CandleWick4 · 19/06/2021 22:01

YSL touché eclat le teint foundation. It’s really light but buildable and sits nicely on my 36 year old skin!

Skysblue · 19/06/2021 22:38

When I could afford it I used chantecaille which was wonderful

Mibbiesaye · 19/06/2021 22:46

I can recommend No 7 Hydraluminous which feels lovely and light on my skin.

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 19/06/2021 22:54

I've just started using the ordinary serum foundation. I'm pleasantly impressed

nc8765 · 19/06/2021 22:58

Il Makiage. It's light but buildable. I don't wear make up often as my skin is pretty decent but on a night out I'll wear this foundation and it does the job.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 19/06/2021 23:05

YSL All Hours. I just use it lightly over nose/cheeks/forehead, buffed in with a brush.

Smoothsoul · 19/06/2021 23:09

I’ve been using Charlotte tilbury Hollywood flawless filter and really love it. I do use a spot of EL double wear around my nose area due to mask taking it off as DW has a bit more staying power.
I love the CT flawless filter. I thought I’d hate CT make up as I could stand the “darlings” on the ads but I do admit to loving this product.

Undersnatch · 19/06/2021 23:13

I’ve never used foundation, aged 39. Does it help?! Not a goady question, honestly, I don’t really understand what it does, when I’ve noticed it on others it looks bad but I guess when it’s done well you don’t notice it? Does it help with lines?

NotTheCatsWhiskers · 19/06/2021 23:17

Phoera, I really like it. I bought it from Amazon after reading people raving about it on fb.

I also like L’Oréal Infallible foundation which is supposed to be a dupe of Doublewear.

I want to try il makiage but it’s an expensive way of buying a foundation that potentially is the wrong colour then having to send it back. Wish they did samples.

FindingMeno · 19/06/2021 23:18

I don't use foundation as I find it feels really uncomfortable. I just conceal/ cover areas as needed, with concealer/ mineral powder.

Gullible2021 · 19/06/2021 23:22

Mac Studio Fix Powder Foundation
Estee Lauder Double Wear or Double Wear Light or Double Wear Powder Foundation
La Prairie Caviar for VERY special.
Bourjois Healthy Mix on a budget
Make Up Forever HD Foundation
Garnier BB Cream when not wanting to be too made up

Current fave is the EL DW powder foundation mentioned above.

ArabeI · 19/06/2021 23:24

I use By Terry Cover Expert most of the time.

I also use, though I think it's actually a tinted moisturiser but it has good coverage - Urban Decay Stay Naked Hydromaniac, tinted glow hydrator.

RichTeaCheddars · 19/06/2021 23:30

No suggestions sorry - my foundation had been discontinued so I'm here for the suggestions too. I was using Body Shop all in one powder.
I found it was so good. Nice non orange or pink pale colour. Thin or thicker coverage, Matt.

Thekormachameleon · 19/06/2021 23:34

Lancôme teint idole is my holy grail

Full coverage without being heavy, really buildable and lasts a good 24 hours

Nowgimmeagin · 20/06/2021 00:13

Max factor miracle touch foundation, I have super problematic skin and it gives great coverage and not heavy

Geamhradh · 20/06/2021 00:16

Hydraluminous is my holy grail.
I have tried, among others:
Charlotte Tilbury
YSL Touche Éclat foundation
Armani Luminous Silk
Chanel- everything
Bobbi Brown serum foundation

And numerous others.

Nothing comes close to Hydraluminous.

Belliphat · 20/06/2021 00:23

Hydraluminous is lovely but slides off me quickly. DW light is my buddy.

MsIreneWinters · 20/06/2021 00:43

I've just started using Hydraluminous after seeing recommendations on MN and agree it is fab. Feels light but great coverage and lovely fresh look.

FetchezLaVache · 20/06/2021 03:17

Another Ordinary serum convert here! As well as being brilliant, it costs bugger all, has an SPF and you need hardly any of it.

goodjoujou · 20/06/2021 07:17

HydraLuminous Moisturising Foundation is brilliant-lovely consistency not to heavy nor too light. I have some pigmentation and it has great coverage too. For a nice glow I mix in a blob of their Custom Blend Highlighting Drops in rose gold. I used Mac studio for years but found it didn’t suit my skin as it got dryer in my 40’s.

ninebiscuits · 20/06/2021 08:28

I love the no7 hydraluminous too. I use the Avon magix primer first, and a bit of no7 loose powder on top.
