Another is this too white for a wedding...

Hi lovely ladies.

So, I posted yesterday about my request for a a dress to wear to a wedding. I am starting a new thread as I wanted some opinions on particular dresses.
I've decided I really like reformation but never ordered from there, so no idea on size.

Also, not much is in stock in my size so I'm limited. Also, being 5ft2 things can often look too long.

What do you think of these options? Wedding appropriate? Are the white floral ones too white?

Thank you so much.

@Grizalda no not at all. I just like the style. I'm struggling to find anything I like and don't know where to look anymore. Plus running out of time. I'd like something with a sweetheart neckline, semi fitted but preferably not overly tight around the tummy.

I'd agree they seem overpriced for perceived quality and style. Have you looked at Silk Fred? They have a wide variety of styles and price points from lots of different brands.

www.silkfred.com/collection/wedding-guest-dresses

59 pages of wedding guest dresses on here. I've found dispatch quick and free returns so good on that front too.

@Alternista

I mean, there’s thousands of dresses out there without white backgrounds. Why are you picking all the ones that do??
Why on earth does it matter? They're all fine, OP.
katy1213 · 11/06/2021 18:47

Only a real Bridezilla could think any of those were too white. But I don't like the off-the-shoulder dress and it's certainly not suitable for a church wedding.

sonjadog · 11/06/2021 18:49

If you don't want clingy over the tummy, I wouldn't go for that second green one. It looks like it would highlight every bump!

Standrewsschool · 11/06/2021 18:49

I think they are all fine for a wedding, and nearly wore something similar to a wedding myself (cancelled during lockdown).

motogogo · 11/06/2021 18:54

They are all fine. White or cream (plain) are a nono but these all have lots of patterns

jobsagudden · 11/06/2021 18:54

Any dress that is predominantly white is too white for a wedding, just chose any other colour Confused

DirectionsForUse · 11/06/2021 19:02

I think the first one is too white, although it wouldn't bother me, I think there's potential that some people would think it weird. The others are OK.

I don't really like any of them, In fact I'd never heard of the brand and expected it to be cheap from the pictures. I'm sure you could find something much better for that kind of money.

HeronLanyon · 11/06/2021 19:04

No 1 too white for many.
2 maybe not good on shorter person?
3 best.
Have fun.

allofthecheese · 11/06/2021 19:09

Violet is the best. Then the Karen.

Sidesaladofchips · 11/06/2021 19:15

Personally I'd stay clear of any dress with a white background. Not worth the potential hassle.
I agree with PP, around the price of these dresses. The general style and from what I can see the quality are more what I would expect from somewhere like New Look or Topshop at best. Certainly nowhere near the £250 price point imo.

Lan2020 · 11/06/2021 19:59

Thank you again for the suggestions. Does anyone know any alternative places I can look?
I'm not a fan of new look/Topshop etc and want something a bit higher end.

Someone up thread suggested Silk Fred, which I love for their definitely not run of the mill stuff. Another is Wolf and Badger, they are similar- lots of good niche brands that you don't see on the high street.
Have you looked on net a Porter or the outnet, both good for designer stuff.

IdblowJonSnow · 11/06/2021 20:54

I like the 2nd one best and then the 3rd.
None of them are too white because none of them remotely resemble a wedding dress. I really think people worry too much about that.

Suzi888 · 11/06/2021 20:57

All are fine, prefer 3

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 11/06/2021 20:58

Have you looked at Rixo?

CornishGem1975 · 11/06/2021 21:00

Nope. It's a floral dress, not a wedding dress.

socalledfriend · 11/06/2021 21:05

I wouldn't wear anything with white as a major colourway to a wedding.

Agree the Reformation dresses don't look great full stop - they aren't very on trend.

Have you looked at Stories ?

Lan2020 · 11/06/2021 21:18

Thank you for the alternative suggestions, I'll look around.

I know a few people have said they aren't keen on the dresses. I'm not even sure what is fashion! I would ideally like knee length but everything seems to be really sort or a midi length (midi on a 5ft 8 model doesn't look as good on someone 5ft 2).
I just want a girly, romantic look semi fitted (at the top) and knee length but I'm struggling!

Have a look at lux-fix.com/shop/valeria-meadow-flower-dress-by-nancy-mac

LeopardHawk · 11/06/2021 21:33

@Grizalda

I've no experience with the quality of reformation but none of these are particularly wow for the price point. Are you set on that brand?
I hadn't looked at the prices until you said that! Shock
CoffeeandCakeEqualsLove · 11/06/2021 21:45

Self Portrait or Needle & Thread seem like good brands based on what your style is

Or could rent one?

I think the Karen dress (option 4) is lovely for a wedding, elegant, easy to wear and dress up or down in the future. It would work for a summer BBQ or holiday dress or day dress too.
