I honestly don't know anymore. I've lost weight but have a long way to go. I have a fancy afternoon tea coming up soon and thought this might be ok. In my head it all worked together but I honestly can't tell if it's ok. Thanks.

I think the jacket is too scruffy nice dress and shoes

Laurie01 · 10/06/2021 21:58

Looks great to me! X

Nodney · 10/06/2021 21:58

I like it...lovely colour. Well done on the weight loss

InnaBun · 10/06/2021 21:59

The jacket looks a bit casual for the rest of it. I love the dress!

thisplaceisweird · 10/06/2021 21:59

You look lovely OP! Perfectly fine for an afternoon tea. Is it in a local hotel or cafe? Or somewhere very very fancy? If the latter, a blazer or tailored trench coat might be a better option for jacket. Only to smarten it up if it's somewhere formal. You'd look lovely for anywhere I've had an afternoon tea though

TableNiner · 10/06/2021 22:00

It definitely goes together as an outfit. What about adding a small pendant necklace?

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 10/06/2021 22:00

I think brown sandals would look better, but otherwise its very smart.

Also as above, well done on the weight loss.

Myneighboursnorlax · 10/06/2021 22:00

The dress looks great but I’m not a fan of the jacket with it. Have you got any other options?

Griefmonster · 10/06/2021 22:02

I like it. Don't agree at all on brown sandals. Jacket is not scruffy!

Griefmonster · 10/06/2021 22:05

And pleeeeaaaaase no blazer or trench. That will look really stuffy. The more I think about it the more I really like what you have put together. I think it's a very clever outfit you've put together there. Have faith in your style and eye. And we'll done on the weight loss and enjoy your afternoon tea!

Bellbottomstovetop · 10/06/2021 22:07

Do you like it OP? Then that's all that matters.

I like it. But I have been permanently in a Jersey dress with a denim jacket since forever.

Cocolapew · 10/06/2021 22:10

It looks nice, the only thing I would do is tan my feet a little. The sandals blend in with them Grin
The dress is a lovely colour.

Thank you so much for all those positive comments! Even though there are mixed views on the jacket I'm glad to know that I was on the right path with the general outfit!

I really have lost my confidence in putting things together and I NEVER wear dresses 😱

The afternoon tea is in quite a fancy but rural hotel. I thought the jacket made the overall look a little younger (which I'm really not). It's nicer than the photo shows, it's this one:

I also have this cropped crew neck cardigan in a similar colour so could swap it out with that.

Thanks again!

Oh I will definitely paint my toenails 😌

Yes. The jacket is nice and suits you.

I'm not sure if they really go perfectly together, but you'll probably take the jacket off and the sandals and dress go together well.

The jacket would look great with denim or a floaty dress in a more muted or lighter colour, but generally you look great.

Candleabra · 10/06/2021 22:20

I think you look very nice. Hope you have a lovely time.

IWantAllTheDogsInTheWorld · 10/06/2021 22:21

Looks lovely but if it was me I would also paint toe-nails, gradual tanner on legs and a statement necklace (or some kind of necklace at least!).

I love going out to posh hotels, a lovely treat! Enjoy!

Nachteule · 10/06/2021 22:23

Well done on your weight loss. What does the pink cardigan look like with the dress? To me that seems a bit more suited to an afternoon tea than the jacket (which is great but not sure it goes with the dress for a bit of a posh tea).

IWantAllTheDogsInTheWorld · 10/06/2021 22:23

Plus...run a quick iron over the jacket and maybe turn the cuffs back to show a nice bracelet or two Smile

purpleben · 10/06/2021 22:23

You look great. Congrats on the weight loss 😁

JamesGetIn · 10/06/2021 22:26

Thanks again everyone. I'm thrilled I've made a big dent in my weightless but still have a long way to go.

I'll try the cardi with it tomorrow and post a pic, and I have a couple of other sandal choices too.

I'm very pale and have never had much joy with tanning, but a darker sandal might look better.

Smile

Great idea to turn up the sleeves, thank you.

I don't think it can be ironed, it's waxed cotton, but I agree it's a little crushed. 😬

It looks lovely for afternoon tea. The jacket is casual though (in case it's really fancy). Have you considered a wrap or a big scarf? You can get them from M&S for about £15 and I happen to think they look 'very classy' just draped over your shoulders.

JamesGetIn · 10/06/2021 22:56

I probably already have a scarf/wrap actually that would go. I'll have another trying on sesh tomorrow! Smile
