Sorry if there’s already a thread, couldn’t see one.

Just seen a pic of the happy couple here

All other issues aside, I love her style! I though she’d become a bit less boho and casual in recent months but the dress is a return to form :o

As for him, I think we can conclude from his wedding look that his hair physically cannot be brushed.

Yes, in terms of tailoring they both look equally as if they had been dragged through a hedge backwards only with the flora ending up on her head and the fauna on his. Neither of them seem to have any visual flair, regardless of how much they have tried to spend on acquiring it. But what attracts me about her as a bride in the photo is the way she is as tall as him, she leans into him, she takes hold of him almost commandingly and there is that frank and intimate but non-seductive gaze right into his eyes. I think that behind the scenes, she has disarmed him in some way and taken the offensive within this marriage. I suspect she has a different approach to him from any woman he has known and he is slightly floored. There is something genuinely free about her spirit, or so her presence comes over in this picture. Which is why it is drawing reactions even despite the ill fittingness of all their clothing and of course the beauty and the beast contrast in their ages.

Goldieloxx · 31/05/2021 22:01

Shame they are both morally bankrupt (and he is literally bankrupt) horrible people

Ddot · 01/06/2021 06:52

It is lovely and cost under £50 to rent, the photo I saw she had bare feet and burgundy toe nails. Would have preferred turquoise blue for traditional purposes (something blue) loved the flower head band too

MurryFuff · 01/06/2021 07:26

@ElizabethTudor

My only thought, is how on earth can she want to shag that?

😂😂😂

LovelyIssues · 01/06/2021 08:45

She looks beautiful

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 01/06/2021 08:50

The thing about being the third wife is you've got to find a style that is suitably different from his previous two wedding photos. So options can be limited.

Curiously, same rule doesn't apply to the glowing groom. He can wear the same stuff he shagged his mistress in to your wedding.

Etiquette is fascinating.

Barney60 · 01/06/2021 08:50

OMG i thought the opposite to most on here it looked to me like she had wrapped my nans net curtains round her.
She looked very much in love though. Am happy shes happy.

Bideshi · 01/06/2021 11:00

Given that she's reputed to be a ruthless and manipulative political operator I think the Thomas Hardyesques simple village maid schtick is a tad inappropriate. Still, Marie Antoinette pulled it off (until she didn't).

Love the thought of Tory stuffed shirts sitting around on hay bales eating barbecue and pretending to be horny-handed sons of the soil. Do hope J Rees-Mogg had to suffer it.

Readyorknot · 01/06/2021 11:08

As someone who lives outside the UK, I have no political attachment or detachment to either of these people but the snobbery of some of the comments on this thread just makes me want to vom. Some of you need to get out more.

Serpenta · 01/06/2021 11:10

Are the serfs not allowed snigger at our great leader and his new bride?

ExConstance · 01/06/2021 11:39

I thought the dress was lovely. I had a look on the designers site and the hire place and the detail was very pretty indeed. She didn't have to conform to anyone elses' sense of style at the sort of small and informal wedding that is rather unknown territory for how to dress.

I can't stand him, the DM pointed out that his suit and tie looked very like the ones he wore in pictures taken with that tech. company woman he was shagging.

My husband made me feel very yucky by asking me if I'd have sex with Boris or Michael Gove if I had to chose one, they are the two most physically repulsive men in politics, so I couldn't chose either, at least Gove would be very polite about it,

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 01/06/2021 11:51

I like the dress. It looks all swishy and swingy and comfortable and she was right not to go with puffy taffeta princess nonsense in her position (I'm looking at you, Geri Halliwell.)

They do look like they're going to to separate parties. I'm not sure how Boris could ever pull off that sort of vintage-y semiformal menswear equivalent, but he just looked like he'd dropped in on his way home from work.

I just imagined him in a Breton top and deck shoes lol.
TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 01/06/2021 12:05

@Plumbuddle haha! I bet he owns both of those things and does wear them in private. I was thinking more of a tweed blazer and bow tie combo. Not sure which would be worse.

Plumbuddle · 01/06/2021 12:20

Actually he should have been dressed as Henry VIII with all the validity/nullity of marriage nattering that I see going on on Twitter. No matter what he represents politically, she is a young bride who should have her special day and I think she hit the best note to separate herself out from his previous marriage styles. I speak as a second wife, it's a horrible position to be in as a bride, nothing is special to the man or so you suspect, and your day can be so easily overshadowed by silent comparisons by the guests. She is used to him being and dressing like an old dog, it probably does not matter to her that he looks no different from normal. I wonder if she sometimes does not call him Dilyn by mistake lol.

SpindleWhorl · 01/06/2021 12:27

Ah yes, Henry VIII - annulled, brutally discarded, died, annulled, brutally discarded, survived.

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 01/06/2021 12:53

One of Henry VIII's complaints about Anna of Cleves is that she wore overly large headddresses.

Having said that, she possibly got the best deal out of all of them. Not having to put up with him for very long or have sex with him, then getting an income and Anne Boleyn's old castle for the rest of her life.

Serpenta · 01/06/2021 12:55

She certainly lucked out by not being fanciable enough for Hal

Yes, I believe he decided to regard her as a 'sister' and she played the long game well*

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 01/06/2021 13:06

There are letters existing which show that they were friends and addressed each other as "brother" and "sister".

Don't know whether Carrie's channeling Anna with her big flower crown.

MrsBunHat · 01/06/2021 13:19

I think as Boris has his political sunset, her star will rise - I was googling her background to find out her roots and it was pretty stellar. She appears to be sleeping with the enemy politically though. I find her quite fascinating as a public figure. I am sure we will see much much more of her.

I’ve thought this too - she must have a plan - or at least it would all make more sense if she did!

There are many rumblings and complaints that she has too much influence over him, but I can’t help thinking that might not be such a bad thing, as she seems to be to the left of him and a lot more astute.

I bet numerous male leaders have made good use of their wife’s advice since ancient times.

Since when is any of this S&B? Can this be moved to chat?

Serpenta · 01/06/2021 13:33

No

Readyorknot · 01/06/2021 13:43

@Serpenta "serfs" sniggering at someone's dress is not in the spirit of style and beauty. As has been discussed at length in recent threads. But if you want to drag everyone down, go for it.

You're right, I've veered off course myself and it's my thread. Blush
