My partner booked a theatre trip and weekend in London pre Covid and hopefully this august we can go we have booked an expensive restaurant on the Friday with a smart dress code then on the Saturday we have a pre theatre meal booked at an average restaurant and theatre after. I’m at a loss of what to wear I’m 27 size 10-12 if that helps

Would this be ok for the theatre black dress with Stuart’s Weizmann highland boots

That's quite dressy for the theatre. Whenever I go to the theatre I'm always quite casual. I also have a thing about having bare legs on the theatre seats Envy

You look lovely, but I think the over the knee boots are a bit much.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 17/05/2021 16:19

Won't you be a bit hot in OTK boots (and long sleeves) in August? I'd wear a midi dress and flat sandals, maybe low heels if not too far from the hotel! But then, I tend to think "smart dress code" in London just means "no shorts or trainers" rather than actual smart.

4PawsGood · 17/05/2021 16:26

Theatre in London is not very smart.

Floisme · 17/05/2021 16:32

Restaurant?
Theatre??
Shock
After the year I've had I would dress the fuck up, and then some more.

Overwhelmed245 · 17/05/2021 16:57

Well, I would just say - London is pretty casual, in general. I think both outfits might be a bit over-dressy, if I’m honest.

SpamIAm · 17/05/2021 22:04

I like to dress up for the theatre even if I'm the only one Grin

Time40 · 17/05/2021 22:04

I think your theatre and dinner outfits look great, OP. Yes, some people in London are very casual, but others can be very dressed up. You go for it!

GlamGiraffe · 17/05/2021 22:17

I live in london and always dress up for the theatre so its entirely up to you. The wonderful thing about london us you can wear an evening dress of sequins to Sainsbury's ( i have done both) and nobody bats an eyelid. You are free to wear anything you want and you feel happy in as there is no real norm.
We havent been able to go anywhere for what feels like an age, make the most if it and have fun. Enjoy getting all dressed up, it's part of the special occasion experience.

KateMidd · 17/05/2021 22:25

I really liked the black dress. I would rather wear some restrained shoes but if you feel confident in this look, feel free to wear what you want.

Overwhelmed245 · 17/05/2021 22:39

Thanks now just to find some matching shoes

OP, dress up :)
I don't understand how people wear same clothes on a day to day basis and then again for a nice meal with their partner and to the theatre. What else are they saving their dressing up for?! And totally agree, after the last year I'd do get my nails ans hair done, and go out feeling great.

Overwhelmed245 · 17/05/2021 22:44

Thank you I can’t wait to feel all dressed up again

That dress doesn't look as if it would be very comfortable to sit and eat a meal in, or allow for much food.
FirmlyRooted · 17/05/2021 23:11

Go for it! We've had a rough year so embrace the opportunity to get glammed up, sounds fabulous.

Overwhelmed245 · 17/05/2021 23:14

Thanks I’m hoping the dress fits

18 months ago I would have been 'lol, no-one dresses up for the theatre and it will be roasting, stick a maxi dress on with some slides woman'. Now I'm like 'YES wear that dress AND the boots and do you maybe have a hat and have you thought about changing inbetween the restaurant and the show?'

So happy to see your outfits OP, have an amazing time ShockThanks

BanningTheWordNaice · 17/05/2021 23:19

Where’s your dress from? I really like it!
