Go on then - would you buy it or bin it?

I'm considering making more of these jackets, sewn from vintage patchwork quilts, to sell via Etsy and possibly an upmarket farmers market in a nearby (NM stronghold) town.

For context, Etsy sell similar for £250.

  1. Would you buy it?
  2. If so, what would you be prepared to pay?

I've asked my sisters, one looked appalled and muttered something about it being 'very niche' while the other was enthusiastic.

Thanks in advance Smile

Very clever you can make these, but I don’t like them (sorry). I don’t want to resemble a walking bed spreadBlush. And £250! faints!
I’m sure some people would love them though.

FourTurnings · 14/05/2021 18:12

I can see there is a lot of work in it but it is just not my style so it’s a no from me.

Snakeprint · 14/05/2021 18:14

No from me, sorry

KirstenBlest · 14/05/2021 18:21

House/bed jacket only, and not at that price. Couldn't you make a new quilt or a cushion or something instead?

NeedCoffeeToSurvive · 14/05/2021 18:32

Absolutely hideous for a jacket, would suit a dog/cat bed.

Rainbow321 · 14/05/2021 18:35

You are obviously very talented , but I wouldn't buy one.

pinkcattydude · 14/05/2021 18:35

No sorry

CadiM · 14/05/2021 18:35

I wouldn't buy one although I love actual quilts. As a PP suggested, is there a market in reselling as recrafted (can't think of proper term) quilts or cushions?

MonkeyNotOrgangrinder · 14/05/2021 18:35

My cute little cousins used to wear stuff like that in the 80s from clothkits!
I sort of like it in a weird way, but wouldn't wear it tbh.

MayIDestroyYou · 14/05/2021 18:38

Niche ... Grin

But the model has great hair!

SionnachRua · 14/05/2021 18:38

I see there's a lot of talent that goes into that but it honestly looks like a dressing gown with the ends lopped off.

PandaLady · 14/05/2021 18:41

Thank you for your honesty. I think sister 2 might have captured it with her 'niche' comment!

I have just stopped doing soft furnishings because the market for all those things is dire right now.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 14/05/2021 18:41

Sorry, but no, I wouldn't buy that and don't fancy it.

Tangledtresses · 14/05/2021 18:41

I love a good quilt, I have many of them
But I'm not sure I would wear one 😬

Blossomandbee · 14/05/2021 18:41

I agree with others that it's a clever make, but it looks like what it is; that you're wearing a bed quilt, sorry. I think a plain colour one could maybe work?

Soulmusic · 14/05/2021 18:42

I'm Japanese. That looks like a bed jacket old people wear in their houses only. I'm laugh if people are wearing them outside!

Palavah · 14/05/2021 18:42

Not for £25, sorry

PandaLady · 14/05/2021 18:42

At least you are making me laugh while being brutal.

Thanks @MayIDestroyYou I do my hair myself (dh clippers the back bit while I cut and colour the top bit).

YourCakesAreShit · 14/05/2021 18:42

Um.

It's along the same line as one of those fleeces with wolves on them.

So, it's a no from me.

Redcrayons · 14/05/2021 18:43

I think I’d agree with ‘niche’.

PandaLady · 14/05/2021 18:44

God, now I feel truly slated @YourCakesAreShit, wolf fleece jacket indeed...

Luckystar1 · 14/05/2021 18:44

@YourCakesAreShit 🤣🤣 I have to agree. Sorry OP!

NotMeNoNo · 14/05/2021 18:45

I'm all for sewing and upcycling but seems like waste of a nice quilt. Maybe if you overdyed it?

EarringsandLipstick · 14/05/2021 18:45

Agree with PPs, I really don't like them but they are amazingly made.

Is there really no market for throws / soft furnishings as you are amazingly talented?

Rollerbird · 14/05/2021 18:45

Not for me
