And if so, how would you style it?

I'm a bit out my depth really Blush

I think it's lovely OP! I'm glad you're going for it. It also looks comfy which is important! You could sit there in a shift dress with a belt feeling constricted and miserable but that wouldn't be any good for anyone.

FlorrieLindley · 13/05/2021 19:37

I'm now singing "Puttin' On The Titz".

I think you will look lovely, but more importantly you will feel comfortable and confident.

oober · 13/05/2021 19:40

gold gladiator sandals or straw soled tie up wedges and a load of gold different length 'hippy' necklaces (you know what I mean, bit of seashell, crystals, dangly bits) or some chunky wooden and gold bangles, straw bag, and a massive pair of 1970's style gold and tortoise shell sunglasses? (summer)

flat suede knee boots and a furry belted gilet with a parama hat, in tan, khaki or wine (autumn/winter),

green/pink/white/cream 'fancy' trainers, matching colour Perspex/acrylic sunglasses?

peep-toe tan suede block heel ankle boots and a slouchy tan suede crossbody bag?

SpeckledyHen · 13/05/2021 19:40

The dress will be absolutely fine OP . Congratulations on the weight loss and have a wonderful time .

WhoNeedsaManOfTheWorld · 13/05/2021 19:41

I love the dress but it is a bit casual
Have you looked at silk Fred? Nice maxi dresses there

moynomore · 13/05/2021 19:44

I agree. It's not casual, it's beachy. Not for London or the Tits. Something slightly more tailored would be better.

Hoppinggreen · 13/05/2021 19:45

I like it and I think you will look lovely.
How about some fancy trainerish type shoes?

MiddlesexGirl · 13/05/2021 19:48

It looks lovely. Perfect for afternoon tea.
I would style it with something a bit lighter than boots though. Maybe loafers (though I'm far from being a loafers person) or smart ... very smart(!) trainers.

Grumblesigh · 13/05/2021 19:50

It's a good choice for your tea! And I doubt your friends would okay the dress if they felt it wasn't flattering. Have a great time - it's really lovely.

ScrambledSmegs · 13/05/2021 19:51

Where the hell do you all live that you think it's a beach dress? The Hamptons?

OlivePenderghast · 13/05/2021 19:57

I think it looks perfect for an afternoon tea Smile

RosaLuxemburgwasright · 13/05/2021 19:57

It's a lovely dress and a great choice for the Ritz. To all of those saying it's a casual beach dress, your idea of being casual on the beach isn't very casual at all. The Ritz is a fancy hotel but people there don't ponce around in diamonds and bouffants. You will not just fit in perfectly, you will look utterly lovely.

Ninkanink · 13/05/2021 20:03

I’m so going to call it the Titz from now on!!

@NaiceAftTea please show us a photo? I’ve always wanted to go to the Titz for afternoon tea and I want to share in the excitement!

I think trainers are de rigueur in a London these days, and will be much more comfortable for walking. But I haven’t looked at the link yet so I don’t know what the dress looks like.

DuchessSilver · 13/05/2021 20:04

Are you going to style it with a pineapple on your head, like the model?

Ninkanink · 13/05/2021 20:04

Oh and congratulations on the weight loss - that is a great achievement! Flowers

RaisinFlapjack · 13/05/2021 20:06

Gorgeous dress and 100% appropriate for tea at the Titz. Spoken as a veteran of fancy London afternoon teas.

It’s not a sodding beach dress at all!

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 13/05/2021 20:06

I agree it is boho beachy but that is a trend ATM.

Def don't wear boots. When is the tea?
If it is summer and warm enough then sandals or smart white trainers would be better for the walking bit. Not heels as wrong with dress.
Some big earrings would be nice.
The Ritz can be very fancy but there will also be tourists and ppl will be in all sorts-you will be fine!
Have fun.

RaisinFlapjack · 13/05/2021 20:08

And yes you could totally wear it with a pair of white trainers.

Ninkanink · 13/05/2021 20:09

Had a look at the dress and I would go for trainers or chunky sandals.

Antiqueanniesmagiclanternshow · 13/05/2021 20:12

All the people saying ' don't get dressed up for tea at the ritz"...
Perhaps the OP WANTS to get dressed up! It's an expensive treat!
The whole " oh it's like having a cup of tea at Frank's caff" schtick is so snobby and unpleasant.

wheresmymojo · 13/05/2021 20:12

It's absolutely fine for the Ritz...

People don't get that dressed up - if you were much more dressed up than this you'd look like a tourist / like you don't belong.

MindtheBelleek · 13/05/2021 20:15

Because the OP has said she wants to wear something comfortable in order to walk around central London afterwards? Because being wildly overdressed for any situation tends to be uncomfortable?
wheresmymojo · 13/05/2021 20:15

OP may want to get super dressed up which is fine.

But those saying she needs to are incorrect or that's it too casual are incorrect.
