Which dress, or both?

I have brought both of these, I am 5ft 2 and the Whistles is a better length. The Somerset is slightly too long so I will need to shorten it which I can do.
Shall I keep both? I don’t go out a lot so would get worn mostly on a dress down Friday at work.

I'd wager that the Temperley print is a bit too big for your petite frame, OP. Love the Whistles! Might get that myself...

Overthinkingalways · 13/05/2021 07:09

Temperley is gorgeous and fun, I’d go for that! The whistles is fine but forgettable

Corkina · 13/05/2021 07:12

Whistles for me, really not into the second dress...

TolkiensFallow · 13/05/2021 07:15

Love the second!

First is more conservative so depends a bit on your work.

Girlintheframe · 13/05/2021 07:21

Love the second one. It's bold and fun. The 1st is a bit meh.

PointeShoesandTutus · 13/05/2021 07:44

I have a Temperley dress and it’s without doubt one of my comfiest, most well made and flattering dresses. I’d say go for the Temperley.

Elsabet · 13/05/2021 12:10

Thank you all.
I am short but a size 14, I had not thought of the Temperley print being too large. I need to pin it up by about 3 inches so I will do that and see what it looks like again.
We can wear anything within reason at work all the others are in smart casual day to day but I still wear my regular work clothes from before the dress code was relaxed.

I like them both. SS Temperly my one is a bit funkier and funner. I love their clothes and have a few SS Temperly dresses, but have needed them all shortened. They're always so long!

LuckyMcDucky · 13/05/2021 14:20

I love the Alice Temperley. Agree the Whistles one is nice enough, but a bit meh.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 13/05/2021 14:21

The Whistles one is a bit dull. I much prefer the Temperley dress.

Twinkie01 · 13/05/2021 14:36

Whistles one is just v v dull. The other one is beautiful.

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 13/05/2021 15:01

2nd one , first is boring !

Elsabet · 13/05/2021 19:04

I pinned up the Temperley dress and it’s much better than the Whistles one. I did think the print was a bit loud for me but it looks good.
Sorry Whistles you are going back, and even better the Temperley is slightly cheaper :)
Now what trusty cardigan can I find to wear with it as it’s always cold in our office!

Good choice. Tbh I think the Whistles one is a bit blah!

midsomermurderess · 13/05/2021 19:20

I think cardigans kill dresses

mamaoffourdc · 13/05/2021 19:29

The second one is beautiful

JeanClaudeVanDammit · 13/05/2021 19:31

Good choice, I love the print on the second one!

Elsabet · 13/05/2021 20:50

@midsomermurderess maybe a fleece 😀
Out and about I will wear a denim jacket but inside I will need something.

I got the Whistles one last week and it did feel good when I put it on, a good fit. Then the Temperley arrived and I thought I don’t need both but which one but yes the Temperley is so much better. Now just need the weather to stop raining!

Ooh, I like the Temperley dress. Have you tried it on OP? One of the reviews says it’s big on top, another days it’s not good if have boobs...

Might order it to try myself 🤔

Elsabet · 14/05/2021 05:09

@ApplyWithin yes I was concerned about those reviews as I have boobs. I would say true to size. I can take some measurements of it? It fits ok on the back and shoulders as I can find sometimes you can’t move yiur arms in some tops/dresses.

OP posts:
StarlightLady · 14/05/2021 06:23

I prefer the neckline and the side slits of the first but the colours and the sleeves of the second.

If you can afford both l’d be tempted.

Elsabet · 14/05/2021 13:46

@ApplyWithin I measured across the back starlight under the armholes and it’s 54cms.
@StarlightLady I could keep both but I don’t think I would get the wear from having 2 dresses, seems a bit of a waste.

ApplyWithin · 14/05/2021 18:16

Thanks, I have ordered it to try. Will update.

Are you brave enough to post pics of you in each dress? You can hide your face!

Standrewsschool · 14/05/2021 18:41

Whistles for work. Temperley for fun.

The Temperley pattern is a little ‘trying to hard’. Ie. Using the trend of animal print, but trying to add their own stamp on it
