If you have what did you try and what did you think of it?

I don’t need to try it - it’s an MLM. Avoid Hmm

Workinghardeveryday · 07/05/2021 20:53

What is a MLM?!! @Lemming20

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 07/05/2021 20:54

Multi level marketing.

GreyHare · 07/05/2021 20:56

I tried the hand cream and a face cream and found it overpriced and pretty crap, I only brought them out of politeness.

sunshinesontv · 07/05/2021 20:58

I went to a Tropic 'party' that was truly tedious.

They also hugely exaggerated how natural their products are.

I bought a couple of things to support a friend - overpriced, average products imo. The spray toner was quite nice. The body cream was awful - smelled nice but took ages to rub in.

Ponks · 07/05/2021 20:58

A couple of the serums are nice but expensive, only bought a few things to help out a friend.

Bigpinkslippers · 07/05/2021 21:03

I love it, I use facial cleanser, toner, moisturizer, serums, eye cream. Body pebbles smell lovely and I use them as shampoo too. Mineral makeup. Didn't like lip fudge, felt too greasy for me and not keen on the mascara. I have extremely sensitive skin and have not reacted to anything.

Timper · 07/05/2021 21:06

I think it’s great and see a difference in my skin.

Hoppinggreen · 07/05/2021 21:07

It IS an MLM but I do really like some of their stuff.
I have a moisturiser and sun drops and DD has a skin care kit.
I buy it from a friend who has a good job and isn’t at all interested in being a #momboss or #mumpreneur or any of that rubbish and knows I will have nothing to do with parties or reselling etc

CornishGem1975 · 07/05/2021 21:10

No, some of my friends are always pushing it at me and it's so overpriced. I buy skincare from The Ordinary instead - works well and is super cheap!

ParisEncore · 07/05/2021 21:13

Like a pp, I don't want to buy from them as they are an MLM.

FeatheredHope · 07/05/2021 21:23

As others have said, i refuse to support any business that works as an MLM. They are deeply exploitative and prey on vulnerable people (particularly women).

UnsolicitedDickPic · 07/05/2021 21:47

Wouldn't know as will never buy from them. MLMs prey on women in particular, especially new Mums, who they know will more than likely be short of cash for one reason or another.

Seeing the explosion of their ilk on my social media gives me the rage.

Workinghardeveryday · 07/05/2021 22:44

I had no idea about MLM’s.
A family member is starting to do this. I have sent her the link...
Thanks for all your replies

This is also a good article

greengrey · 07/05/2021 23:08

Yes it's an MLM but it's one with good products. All vegan too. Love it. Don't be put off it you like it.

Lemming20 · 08/05/2021 07:50

Greengrey - so you don’t think that you should be put off from a product which is sold using a predatory business model and by preying on vulnerable people (usually women)? I only use vegan products too but that is because I wish to avoid harm. MLM causes harm.

Lemming20 · 08/05/2021 07:54

On a totally unrelated note, the Founder of Tropic once asked, on national TV, whether French people like their children Grin

ParisEncore · 08/05/2021 08:52

Them being vegan is nice and everything, but lots of skincare is now labelled vegan. It doesn't make up for how their business model is set up to exploit vulnerable people in a really cynical way. If you are looking for a vegan, ETHICAL product, Topic isn't it.

There are some great independent skincare companies who make their products ethically and whose products are also vegan.

ParisEncore · 08/05/2021 08:53

Snort @ do french people love their children? Sweet Jesus. No surprise that the person who started an MLM is a bit of a bellend tbh.

ParisEncore · 08/05/2021 09:02

Tropic not Topic

UnsolicitedDickPic · 08/05/2021 14:47

Amazing. And what prompted this insane question?
wonkylegs · 08/05/2021 14:51

I 'won' some once and was kinda glad that I had a reaction to it all so I could tell the lovely family member that I was allergic so I definitely can't buy it.

LibyanFeet · 08/05/2021 14:53

She was brainstorming, apparently. Karen Brady’s face was a study!

Tropic is a very sore subject, not least because it’s an MLM.

Workinghardeveryday · 08/05/2021 15:28

Told my family member who is going to start selling it, she said she keeps 75% of the sale price, doesn’t need to get anyone else to start selling it etc
