How many bottles of perfume do you own?

I've just been sorting mine out and it's rather a lot. 78 bottles. I will say (in my poor defence!) that my job means I'm sent quite a bit and well, I've clearly bought quite a lot over the years. There's vintage bottles in there too and discontinued perfumes and remarkably - none have gone off

How about you?

Badoukas · 05/05/2021 22:10

JaceLancs · 05/05/2021 22:17

40 plus

Ireolu · 05/05/2021 22:48

10 with some repititions. 2 X j'adore and 2 X LV contre moi. I don't wear perfume much anymore.

Ecruelworld · 05/05/2021 23:09

Jo Malone wild bluebell x 1
Laura Biagiotti Roma (the men’s version) x 1
Isley Miyake L‘eau Bleue d‘issey pour Homme x 1

I would have loads of perfume if I could afford to. I wear it for myself. It makes me happy.

tobee · 06/05/2021 00:02

Absolutely loads and loads! Far too many to count. Full bottles of all kinds of prices. Lots of little bottles from perfume parlour. Loads of samples.

And it's all down to you lot and style and beauty you bastards made me spend that money! Grin

I came across a thread the other day from 2012 that's fascinating about perfumes. It had 1k posts. At least I'm only get eBay samples now. I'm an (Dior) addict.

wingsnthat · 06/05/2021 00:42

Around 25. I have a fragrance wardrobe and different scents for certain occasions or time of year etc. I do want to start downsizing though, it’s so hard to figure out where to begin. I can’t even just use up the bottles as I probably have enough to last me several years.

How have you stopped them going off? How old is the oldest? I'm dying to buy another bottle and keep telling myself the others will go off.
RainedOn · 06/05/2021 00:54

^^. Sorry OP, you've already answered how you keep them. DRTFT.

Threebecomesfour · 06/05/2021 00:59

5; 2 x Jo Malone, 1 x Chanel, 1 x Glossier, 1 x Diptyque

QueenPaw · 06/05/2021 09:00

@RainedOn I'm wearing CK one summer today from 2008, and it smells perfect Smile

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 06/05/2021 09:11

220 Blush in my defence....ok i have no defence, i just like perfume but i dont have any other vices so that mitigates it just a little Blush

Pyewackect · 06/05/2021 09:13

One, Chanel Allure.

PullUp · 06/05/2021 09:28

I’ve never had a bottle of perfume turn on me, and I have some real oldies. A couple of Yves Rocher from the 70s, some Poison from the 80s and loads of stuff that is at least 20 years old. The trick is to keep perfume in a cool, dark cupboard, not displayed in the sunlight and exposed to heat on a dressing table like lots of us do!

PullUp · 06/05/2021 09:29

(Although some perfume over time will lose the ‘top notes’, and the liquid will often darken or change colour over time).

Fferny1 · 06/05/2021 09:36

51 bottles are listed on my Fragantica profile. Plus lots of samples/decants.
In my defense I've been on the perfume thread here intermittently for years and have loved perfume since being tiny.
I do frequently eBay unloved bottles & Tk Maxx blind buys, or sell on Facebook Perfume Sites.

TatteredHare · 06/05/2021 10:10

@RainedOn yep that's right, they're kept in the dark!

I've got vintage fracas from the 80s, Aramis New West from the 80s, along with CK, Obsession, Georgio Beverley hills, Oscar de la renta - all 80s and pretty dated now!

I have prescriptives calyx from the 90s and ultima sheer scent

Here's what i keep out though right now and just grab whatever i feel like - I change it often though!

MythsandSparkles · 06/05/2021 11:05

Faaaaaasssr to many.

All though Long COVid means non of my favourites smell right any more (unless there’s been a spontaneous going off event in my collection)

So I’m enjoying find new ones Blush

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 06/05/2021 14:20

@TatteredHare i have everything from chanel to montale, mancera, alexander mqueen, sarah jessica parker, queen latifah, yardley, ghost bascically if i think its nice its in my collection!! i dont judge by price, i take each scent as it is and how it smells to me, im not swayed by soemthing being better just because its expensive or it being crap because its cheap, for example the queen latifah is fabulous and cost me £12 on ebay but its a really rich and thick gourmand comparable to some of the more expensive scents i have Smile

pommedeterre · 06/05/2021 14:25

Wow! 4 if you include two travel size ones for holidays...

Maybe I need to get some more.

MissBattleaxe · 06/05/2021 14:29

I've got 80. I'm a perfume blogger so I get sent a lot. I wear almost all of them and keep boxed in a dark drawer. My oldest is about 60 and still smell great.

MissBattleaxe · 06/05/2021 14:30

I don't care about how much or how little it costs although I couldn't afford to spend £100 on a bottle
