What's the best hand cream you've used?

My hands are like sandpaper and I've tried a few different creams now. Recommendations for what to buy next? Especially if it smells amazing too! Effectiveness is most important though obviously.

I use Hoofmaker by mane & tail. Brilliant stuff.

Does anyone remember Cremolia from Boots? It used to come in a glass jar. I wish they'd stock it again, great for hands.

Neutrogena -original one- it is sticky and doesn’t smell nice at all.

Lidl do a version for 1£ which seems to be just as good

SallyOMalley · 01/05/2021 08:40

@Vinotinto78

I’ve found that a weekly scrub with a teaspoon each of olive oil and sugar means that any old hand cream will do the trick. It’s cheap as chips and so effective on my rough mitts. Must remember to do it tomorrow...
But don't make the mistake I did and use salt instead of sugar. Oh the pain ...
Vinotinto78 · 01/05/2021 10:31

SallyOMalley - Ouch!

Etherealhedgehog · 08/05/2021 18:55

Second (third? Haven't read the whole thread) Neutrogena Norwegian Formula. No smell, but definitely the best if you have really dry hands

flossletsfloss · 08/05/2021 18:57

Clarins hand and nail treatment

Popcornbetty · 08/05/2021 19:04

L'Occitane is amazing and by far the best I’ve tried, also smells lovely.

Rina66 · 08/05/2021 19:16

L'Occitane Shea butter hand cream is very good but quite greasy, good for before bed especially if you wear the cotton gloves - DH jokes re MIchael Jackson are wearing thin though! During the day I like Margaret Dabs hand serum because it just disappears and I can carry on without leaving greasy fingerprints everywhere.

Gwenhwyfar · 08/05/2021 19:26

Neutrogena. I actually use it all over my body because I have dry skin.

Restore hand cream from the Apothecary range at M&S, it smells and feels far more expensive than it is, and lasts ages. Really recommend. I've used L'occitane before and this feels like a good dupe for it.

Thx for this recommendation I have been using it for a week and it's amazing!!
Cahu58 · 08/05/2021 19:30

Loccitane rose smells amazing, minty fresh not fusty type of rose

DancesWithDaffodils · 08/05/2021 19:33

O Keeffes. I prefer the tub to the tube.
It isnt scented. It does smell slightly, but everything us going to have a slight odour. Once rubbed in, you cant smell ut.

Tomasinabombadil · 08/05/2021 19:53

I had an unusual outbreak for me (I think it may have been stress related?) of very dry & rough sore red skin only on the back of my left hand and fingers late last year. I was applying my usual hand/body creams and even wrapping my hand coated with Vaseline and wearing a cotton glove at night. Nothing worked.
Then I bought a tube of AVEENO DERMEXA Daily emollient cream
My hand was better within 2-3 days, brilliant stuff. The fragrance is pleasant too. 🥰

Italianmeringuebuttercream · 08/05/2021 20:40

I suffer from really dry skin especially on my hands and I've been enjoying weleda skin food recently. It is very thick and greasy but it does sink in eventually! I'm happy to trade greasy hands for half hour for soothed hands. Would be amazing overnight if you don't like creams that don't sink in immediately.

DobbleBobble · 08/05/2021 22:50

It doesnt match your requirement of smelling nice but maybe someone else will read it. I love the lidl sos cream, non greasy, very effective and cheap as chips - if you can get it, it's sometimes out of stock so it not just me who rates it

Faevern · 08/05/2021 22:54

@SpringtimeSummertime I’ve just received a sample of nursem it’s fab. It’s currently on offer in Boots.

Time40 · 08/05/2021 22:59

Nivea Q10 - and it's got sunblock in it, which I think is essential.
