Okay it's been a week and I'm still not happy with my hair - pic

Please bear with me!
I thought it had been done too light...
I was offered a toned but I've been very busy with work and I can't give up a day to go into central london.
Now here's a pic of it today.
I don't want to be so light around my roots and it really shows up the dark bits (which has never happened with highlights before)

I'm so confused. I don't think Olaplex should be left in that long. Highlights look terrible wet/greasy - wash and dry it properly and then see.

HumourReplacementTherapy · 26/04/2021 00:14

Olaplex stops working after it's recommended leave in time. There is no point in leaving it on for days/ sleeping in it etc.

Regularsizedrudy · 26/04/2021 00:18

@HousewifeNumber10

Thanks again, I actually put Olaplex on it, but it had dried (I have 1 and 2 and leave them on for days as I only wash my hair once a week) that might explain a bit of greasiness. She put the darker ones through to counteract the lighter ones. I've got a Scott Cornwall Caramel toner but that will be more golden/ brown. I guess spending a lot of money on my hair has freaked me out!
Is that... what your supposed to do with olaplex?
TabooNCoke · 26/04/2021 00:19

We used to have that fan artex on our ceiling.

goldielockdown2 · 26/04/2021 00:23

It's olaplex no 3 you can leave on for a while OP but you do need to wash it out afterwards.

wheniwas17 · 26/04/2021 07:52

Dude wash out the olaplex. It's not a leave in conditioner. Wash and style your hair, more than once a week!

wheniwas17 · 26/04/2021 07:54

Imagine complaining to your hairdresser that your hair looked shite then going in with old olaplex not washed out for a week Grin

MoltonSilver · 26/04/2021 07:59

Everyone's hair would look terrible if they put in Olaplex and didn't wash it for a week. Wash it normally and take another pic so we can see what it's actually like.

Kittykat93 · 26/04/2021 08:04

OP it's a bit gross to be walking round with olaplex In your hair for days, not being rude but it looks dirty and greasy as fuck. If you wash and style it your hair will look nice. That is all

wingsnthat · 26/04/2021 11:11

What made you think that this is how you use Olaplex? The instructions do not suggest using it like you have done, it’s supposed to be rinsed out after 10 minutes.

You actually run the risk of damaging your hair and skin by leaving “rinse out” products on your skin for extended periods of time. As these products are designed to be rinsed out, they may contain higher levels of irritating ingredients vs “leave on” products as they’re not designed to have contact with the skin for very long.

I don’t think there’s any hair treatment that’s supposed to be applied to wet hair, left to air dry and then washed out a week later. The only thing that comes to mind is a keratin smoothing blow dry but you only leave it in for a few days as to make sure your hair doesn’t get kinky. It doesn’t repair or condition the hair by being kept on for longer.

peachgreen · 26/04/2021 11:16

Why do you leave the Olaplex on?! For a week?!

HasaDigaEebowai · 26/04/2021 11:22

OK I agree with everyone else entirely. You can't post a picture of your hair with week old product on (that is supposed to be shampooed out) and then complain about it looking shite. Of course it will look shite and I can't believe you actually go around looking like that when you've paid money to have your hair done.

Is the second picture the picture just after the hairdresser had done it? If so then it looks like and you just need to understand that you have to wash and dry and style your hair to make it look its best... After a period of lockdown its always going to take a while to get the blending perfect again since you presumably had a big chunk of root growth at the top.

Regularsizedrudy · 26/04/2021 15:35

I reeeeally want op to update with a nice photo with all the crap washed out pleeeease!

HousewifeNumber10 · 30/04/2021 16:27

I have just had my hair cut and blow dried - it does look better but I feel the olaplex did show up that it was a bit stripy (I normally only have blonde highlights) and those people asking why worried about hair - it's because I started my own company a couple of month's back and I wasn't sure if I would have much business. Paid for hair because I hoped it would look good and then felt very very guilty - however the last week has been good and it does look as if I made a good decision. Anyway I don't feel so bad. It's never hair it's always done thing else! First world problems and that. It won't be done again till September anyway.

And the Olaplex thing - the lady who cut my hair gave me some 1 and 2 to use before I she cut it. She laughed when I said I'd left it on for a couple of days (it did make wearing my hair up so much easier as I have quite crazy hair) said it wouldn't have done it any harm but it's not meant to be left on ages.
I had no idea.

FizzyApricot · 30/04/2021 16:48

I see what you mean about the stripes but it looks fine to me, and very shiny.

Starstruck2021 · 30/04/2021 16:52

Yes it does look stripy even now it’s dried.

Olaplex 1 is designed to be mixed in with the bleach when actually doing the process of bleaching/highlighting. Olaplex 2 is for using immediately after the process. Olaplex 3 is for use at home, and is definitely not meant to be left in for days!

Have you actually been putting Olaplex 1 on your hair and leaving it? Confused

Letsgetreadytocrumble · 30/04/2021 16:58

There is no way I would let a 'hairdresser' who doesn't even know how to use Olaplex anywhere near my hair!!!

FizzyApricot · 30/04/2021 17:01

And as PP have said that is now how olaplex 1 and 2 are designed to be used.

HousewifeNumber10 · 30/04/2021 17:06

I'm not posting about olaplex!! I've asked about my highlights....

OP posts:
FizzyApricot · 30/04/2021 17:07

Yep they still look stripey. Sorry.

Regularsizedrudy · 30/04/2021 22:50

..but why did you leave it on for days? Where did you get this idea!?

MrsMaizel · 01/05/2021 01:01

The stripes are too thick ! You need fine ones.
