The Wimbledon dress is lovely and her hair length and colour is perfect. She looks fresh and modern.

I think the middle dress is the (unintentionally) bum flashing one!

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 13/06/2021 21:19

Yes it is, it looks like William has spotted the potential in that pic. That has to have been sooo embarrassing, I can't imagine. The Wimbledon yellow is absolutely beautiful. The baby doll shows that Kate is literally Barbie proportions. Incredible figure.

frugalkitty · 13/06/2021 21:45

Well, I've lost an inch in height since I had kids so I'm sure the Queen has shrunk a bit given her age. My Nan really shrunk and she was tiny to start with.

Watching the football and rather disappointed that Max is more 'Max' in the stands. Colour wise, I mean!

frugalkitty · 13/06/2021 21:47

My nan shrank, that should be. Probably. Shrank and shrunk are not words to be typing after best part of a bottle of Prosecco Grin

I'm not a big fan of HM's frock today... maybe it didn't photograph well, but to me it just looks like AK made it from an old pink floral curtain. Also why the need for the hat? Was Jill supposed to wear one too?

Gooseysgirl · 13/06/2021 23:02

Ohhhhh I've just seen there was a whole guard inspection thing happening too, hence the hat 😄

I agree she looks a little upholstered.
StartupRepair · 14/06/2021 00:11

The little boy with Sophie looks very serious and a bit doubtful about being up the front with the countess.

SenecaFallsRedux · 14/06/2021 00:29

I think that President Biden looked well turned out as well, at the G-7 and at Windsor. His suits are well-tailored in that American chairman of the board kind of way, and I'm happy to see he was rocking his signature aviator sunglasses.

Maireas · 14/06/2021 08:06

Joe Biden looks sharp. Dr Biden looks good as well, and it's nice to see her sharing her early years interest/ expertise with Kate.

I have a royal, non-style question that I hoped people here would know the answer to. I'm wondering why the Queen is not being escorted.

It seems to make things a bit awkward when she is hosting a couple such as the Bidens and they have to walk somewhere as Dr Biden becomes a bit of an afterthought.

I think I noticed the Duke of Kent at some point this week, but a bit in the background. You'd think that a senior royal could accompany her in order to balance out the couples a bit.

Maireas · 14/06/2021 09:02

Yes, that's a good point. When she's met heads of state (many, many over the years!) Philip always accompanied the partner/engaged them in conversation. I think Edward (Kent) had been a serving army officer, so was invited to have that role at the Trooping. However, Anne or Sophie for example, could have been drafted in to accompany Dr Biden.

I imagine that the dress was planned to be worn under a pink coat to match her hat, but since it was such a warm day the coat was ditched. On their own the Queen’s day dresses all tend to look like shapeless floral pillowcases, I find.

Also on the escort point, she often relied on Prince Andrew as her escort at family events after the Duke of Edinburgh retired, but obviously that’s no longer a possibility, and there are no other handily single family members. I think she’s just done all the other things by herself.

Those thoughts had crossed my mind too. However, I thought it would have been a good opportunity for Kate, but I guess she has other demands on her time!

I would love to know what the queen's thoughts are of everything that happens. I guess we'll never know, or at least I won't live long enough. Have any recent monarch's memoires been published?

Maireas · 14/06/2021 10:39

The Queen has kept a diary since she was a child. She writes in it every night, according to what I've read. I suspect she has made instructions for her private papers after her death. I've read Victoria's diaries, although her daughter Beatrice edited them a bit!

I know what you mean about HMQ's dresses, @Serenster. Without wanting to be booted off the thread for treason, I always think Queen Margrethe of Denmark, who is in her 80s, is a bit more stylish than our Queen.

Here are two recent outfits. The floral dress is more shaped, and the jacket with the white outfit also more nipped in than HMQ tends to go for. I also like her wide-brimmed hat, though given that she's much taller than our Queen, she can carry this off.

Yes, Queen Margrethe is very stylish and has a flair for the dramatic, which I put down to her interest in designing theatrical costumes. She has a more varied shoe wardrobe than HMQ too and always wears flats, presumably because she's about 6ft tall!

DigOutThoseLemonHandWipes · 14/06/2021 11:57

I think HMQ is aware the the teeny tiny nipped in waist of her younger days is long gone. She never seems to wear anything with any waist definition.

LittleBearPad · 14/06/2021 12:54

Without being treasonous Grin the Queen needs a better bra, her clothes would hang better.

Maireas · 14/06/2021 13:56

Daisy has style, and often wonder if Max has looked to her for colour inspiration!!
I agree about HM, of course we don't know of any minor ailments that may preclude the wearing of closer fitting garments.

KillingMeDeftly · 14/06/2021 14:12

I'll join you at the Tower @LittleBearPad! I've often thought the same about Camilla and even Eugenie, young as she is.

Maybe things haven't been the same since Rigby & Peller had their royal warrant withdrawn!

AdaColeman · 14/06/2021 14:58

I agree that Margrethe has got a lot more fashion flair and style than HM. I think Margrethe has an understanding of colour and shape, and is much more willing to take style risks.

The fabric design of Betty's pink frock worn yesterday, would make a lovely wallpaper.

Her Maj hasn't had much luck with bra fitters since she parted company with June Kenton of R&P. June had looked after her and Princess Margaret and the QM for years, but the publication of her book "Storm in a D cup" brought all that to an end, unfortunately for R&P.

MotherofPearl · 16/06/2021 14:51

Royal Ascot is on and we have some royal fashion!

First up we have Camilla, who seems to have taken a leaf out of Mathilde's book with the mask matching her dress. The dress itself is a bit shapeless I think, and the fabric a little pyjama-esque.

I'm sorry to say that I don't think Sophie looks her best here either. The dress is too long, and it reminds me of the unpopular dress Kate wore to Pippa's wedding.

I can't seem to find a full length picture but I love this picture of Zara; she looks lovely and her hair looks stylish in that updo.

And then the President of South Korea and his wife are in Spain were hosted at a state dinner. @Maireas you are going to wince at these shoes of Leti's! I think she looks amazing, but pretty impractical for us mere mortals.

Wowsers, those are some shoes on Letizia! It must make her pretty tall as she isn't as small as she seems in photos.

Camilla's Ascot outfit looks like a prison uniform and Sophie needs a better bra. Zara looks good and also a little like Charlene in that image!
