Ho hum, no gowns for the reception. Just a cream coat dress and some foul frocks 🥱

No obvious big jewels either, boo. I do love the lush backdrop for the picture, though - having the Eden Project for the venue is a great idea.

The McQueen dress is great though - lovely colour on her and a good sharp cut. Much more professional looking than those fit and flare styles she often goes for, which can look a little childish in my opinion.

I wondered why you found the dresses foul, @KillingMeDeftly!! I agree with @Spudlet about the fit and flare. Kate, step away from the coat dresses! Camilla and HM look nice and very appropriate for the location!
I would dearly love them to have a banquet, proper evening gowns and big jewellery!

Lol at foul dresses

Not to totally dunk on coat dresses [warms up dunking arm] but I think they especially don’t work in this sort of setting, with her hair down in a semi-formal environment. They’re better at the sort of things where she has her hair up in one of those swirly up-dos which always look great, and with a hat. But for a less formal event, they look a bit off-kilter to me. Like she ran out of time to get ready properly.

I’m sure Kate will be utterly devastated by this criticism, of course

You're right, @Spudlet - a great updo, chic hat, At Paul's Cathedral or a Trooping, not an evening reception in summertime.

I did think foul was a tiny bit strong from @KillingMeDeftly!

I quite agree about coat dresses. They're really not right in the evening.

My only complaint with Kate's fuchsia dress is the overly large shoulder pads. I think it messed up her proportions.

I like that floral dress (from the dance thingy) much more than anything she's worn for ages. The fluid fabric works much better on her than that stiffer cotton of say, the face mask blue dress (as I will always think of it now!).

Argh, the last paragraph of my post refers to Camilla of course. Typing in haste!

I agree that the cream coat dress would be better suited to the Trooping or a church event. I wasn't really expecting full gown glamour this evening but I thought at least a cocktail dress, like The Vampire's wife one from Ireland.

Then again, the PM's wife is wearing VW so maybe not!

That jumpsuit is Max to the Max, though I'm not sure the white belt quite goes with it.

If I were to spend any substantial amount of time looking at that jumpsuit I would get a migraine, but because it’s Max it is still making me smile. Just quite briefly and with sunglasses on

HMQ is going to blend in with that at the Eden Project with that design, isn’t she?

The belt is the least of it! Where to even start?! The huge wedge espadrilles, the giant red earrings, or the fact that it's a floral jumpsuit?

I agree Camilla's dress (at the dance thing) is a winner. It looks like a very high quality silk, which is why it hangs so nicely.

I like Kate's red (?) dress. And Jill's jacket with the turned back sleeves to show off the lining.

It pains me to say it (because I cannot abide her) but Carrie for me wins in the style stakes this evening. Kate's dress suits her but not right for this kind of event. Loved the colour of Kate's dress this afternoon but the shape of it on the shoulders was a wrong and the belt wasn't great either. Loved Camilla's blue floral. Lovely pics of Kate and Jill visiting early years setting, perfect outing for them. OMG the head of hair on Wilfred... the apple doesn't fall far from the tree 🤣

Maybe substitute an orange one?

Really @Gooseysgirl? Because I think Carrie’s dress is an unusual miss for her. The shape doesn’t suit her at all (especially around the shoulders - it looks like it’s tight) and it’s too dark for the occasion. I don’t even like the shoes.
