I'm not too keen on Kate's powder blue coat dress by Catherine Walker, yes yet another one , it's a rather over played tired look for her by now.

Also, I don't think that the colour does anything for her, especially when compared to how she glowed in the vibrant blue/green plaid she wore yesterday.

TriSarahTops · 27/05/2021 22:39

Is it wrong to wish that Kate wouldn’t wear high heeled court shoes all the time? I much prefer her casual footwear. Surely there is another option for everyday out-and-about-in-a-coat days? They just look so uncomfortable and I think they’re starting to look a bit dated. It’s not like she needs the extra height...

CliffsofMohair · 28/05/2021 00:25

@KillingMeDeftly

Madeleine always looks fabulous in tiara and jewels.
The Swedes give good tiara. @banivani should be very proud 😁
banivani · 28/05/2021 06:56

I’d be embarrassed to say I was proud of that but I did like it as a concept, understanding how kids want maximum princess like.

Iphone wants the word princess to be capitalised, fuck that! Shock

LadyEloise · 28/05/2021 07:19

I loved the pink dress Kate wore to meet Mila Sneddon who was pretty as a princess herself in her blush pink dress and crown.Star
The pale blue coat was lovely but I think would look better without the belt. The belt spoils it.

KillingMeDeftly · 28/05/2021 07:40

The coat dress is very similar to several she's already got. She must love ice blue but I think a warmer shade would be more flattering. I liked the green blazer and cricket sweater from earlier in the day.

Maireas · 28/05/2021 07:44

I'm not keen on that pale blue coat dress either. It's a bit of a uniform, but not particularly flattering.
I'm with you, @TriSarahTops - I'd like to see different footwear apart from those high spiked heels. Meghan, Beatrice, Eugenie, Leti - they always seem to wear them, but I don't think they always look good. I know people on here really like them and I'm in a minority disliking very high heels!

Love Max’s look! The shoes are 👍

Mathilde’s matchy mask is a bit odd and looks a bit small, or maybe it isn’t tight enough around the ears. It’s slipping down, it seems.

chesterelly · 28/05/2021 08:23

We were spoilt with outfit changes yesterday from Kate. I think my favourite was the green suit but I love that she kept her promise to the wee girl to meet her wearing a pink princess dress. I think the blue Catherine Walker was a bit pale but any brighter we'd have been in Saltire territory so at least she avoided that.

LadyEloise · 28/05/2021 08:50

I too thought the blue of the coat was not the best on Kate. She looked pale in it - it drew the colour from her face.

Chewbecca · 28/05/2021 09:03

I love Kate in the pink dress, all swishy a slightly more modern look with the belt too.

I do like the light blue too but the neckline could be more flattering.

Feeling very spoilt with the amount of new clothes we are getting to see!

TriSarahTops · 28/05/2021 09:04

I have to say the shape of the blue coat works really well when she’s sitting down.

Isn't it great to see some more RF fashion out and about - can't wait for some red carpet high octane glamour looks!
I'm not keen on the ice blue coat dress, the top half looks a bit boxy.

AppleKatie · 28/05/2021 09:31

Blue coat dress is a bit boring to me somehow.

Spudlet · 28/05/2021 09:48

I think the top half of that coat dress is a bit off - it looks a bit too big, perhaps because the fabric is thicker than a normal dress would be? And the neckline is quite wide and then the shoulders are too, but the waist doesn’t nip in enough so it looks a bit boxy. It might have been better if there had been a little top visible underneath it, perhaps.

Mind you, I remain a confirmed member of the Coatdresses Suck club (possibly the only member Grin) so perhaps I am biased against it Grin

As a little aside ~ for anyone interested in fashion, one of today's Kindle deals is "Clothes, and other things that matter" a memoir by Alexandra Shulman.
Alexandra was editor of British Vogue for twenty five years from 1992, a period when its readership really expanded. She writes in an easy to read, chatty gossipy style. Though the book does get mixed reviews, at only 99 pence it could still be money well spent.

Eaumyword · 28/05/2021 13:48

Hey Spud, I think your club should be called Some Coat Dresses Suck!Grin
I love, love, love Kate's Trooping of the Colour coat dresses. She had a run of beautiful pastel pink, blues, lemons etc and to my thinking looked so chic and feminine.

Some Coat Dresses Suck!

New thread title

banivani · 28/05/2021 16:08

I’m just not sure I understand the concept. It’s a dress - but it looks like a coat. I don’t get it.

SenecaFallsRedux · 28/05/2021 16:17

Also not a particular fan of the coat dress, possibly because they are not really wearable in a warm climate so it's not a look you see much in my neck of the woods. I do like actual coats though, but seldom get to wear one.

Maireas · 28/05/2021 16:56

I agree with pp that a little top underneath would have made the coat dress look better. The idea is that it's more formal than a dress, but you don't get the bulk. I liked the pink dress and the Ralph Lauren sweater (a touch literal).

paradyning · 28/05/2021 18:07

I think the belt and the buckles clash on that coat. The colour is a given

MotherofPearl · 28/05/2021 19:01

Yup I don't really get coat dresses either. I mean, Kate generally looks lovely, but they're my least favourite look on her. Sign me up to your club, @Spudlet!

KillingMeDeftly · 28/05/2021 19:16

They were at a Church of Scotland event (I think) so if there's ever a time when a coat dress is suitable, it's then!

KillingMeDeftly · 28/05/2021 19:21

Nice to see her in an Me + Em dress. I do love a lot of their stuff but it's very pricey for what it is!
