@Shrivelled

What the hell is going on with post pandemic fashion. We need colour and fun not a sandal that looks like it belongs in a care home.
😂
DublinDoris2000 · 15/04/2021 18:56

I like them! They are kind of norm-core and look very comfortable. They would look lovely with linen trousers or a summer dress. But I'm a bit dorky and live in birkenstocks in the summer. YMMV.

ichundich · 15/04/2021 18:59

I can think of much better ways to spend all that money; don't like them at all, sorry!

Why are they being modelled with socks?

goldielockdown2 · 15/04/2021 19:10

I love them and wear that style with and without socks. Only the FreePeople ones though, I wouldn't shop any of the other brands.

Thank you for your suggestions, I have already seen and rejected all of these .

I tried the White Stuff ones today , they look quite cheap irl and were too narrow

The Next ones are too flat and wrong colour .

I have been to 2 branches of Seasalt this week to try those ones but none in the branch. The reviews say they are narrow :(

Russell & Bromley didn’t have the second pair I linked to in stock either!

@Soontobe60

They’re fab! But very expensive!!! These are nicer and half the price. www.drmartens.com/uk/en_gb/p/24830001 I’m your age...
Those are nice! But I wonder if they would be heavy and stiff and hard to wear with bare feet being DMs
Mankyfruitbowl · 15/04/2021 20:21

I like them! I think they'd look lovely with a loose linen dress or wide leg trousers. And they're very fashionable this year, if you're bothered about that.

fallfallfall · 15/04/2021 21:28

The second pair R&B much more classy.
The first pair look incredibly heavy, I’d bet walking any significant distance in them would wreak havoc on ankle and knee joints. Tripping hazard about to happen. I also second the issue of pebbles getting in and shaking them out every mile.

Mugginyouleftrightandcentre · 15/04/2021 21:32

My dad had a pair exactly like this in the early 80s!

Foofbrush · 15/04/2021 21:35

I am entirely of the opinion that anyone of any age should wear whatever they want, provided it won't lead to a charge of outraging public decency.

However, I make an exception for those sandals because they only belong on a 1970s beardy geography teacher.

LunaTheCat · 15/04/2021 21:40

I like them.context is everything -it depends what you wear them with.
They look comfy but may be heavy because of the thickness of the soles.
If you like them wear whatever you like.

LaceyBetty · 15/04/2021 21:46

I think so, sorry. As someone said above, their ironically out of fashion. I mean, anyone can wear whatever they like, but, still, no.

lazylinguist · 15/04/2021 21:46

The DM ones are definitely a lot nicer!

Isolatedizzy · 15/04/2021 21:52

I've got a pair of the 'And other stories' ones! Inspired by the other thread trying to find a cheaper version of the Russel & Bromley ones!

They are really comfortable!

Am I too old to wear these ? Be honest please ..
Isolatedizzy · 15/04/2021 21:55

Not the R&B pair you linked to actually!

Let me try & find it!

Cipot · 15/04/2021 22:04

Someone else posted identical black ones a few days ago. No socks though.

Isolatedizzy · 15/04/2021 22:18

Here's the other thread! With the original pair of R&B Fisherman's sandals!

Has anyone seen a cheaper version of these sandals? http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/styleandd_beauty/4205985-Has-anyone-seen-a-cheaper-version-of-these-sandals

WellTidy · 15/04/2021 22:26

I absolutely love these. I’m sure I had a pair around 30 years ago! I will definitely be buying some!

crispinglovershighkick · 15/04/2021 22:36

izzy thanks for posting that, I thought, haven't I just read this thread but everyone was in love with the shoes?? Thought I'd dreamt it Grin

Isolatedizzy · 15/04/2021 22:39

Crisp funny isn't it! 🤣

HelpMeh · 15/04/2021 22:43

The RB ones are much nicer. The Free People ones remind me of my dad's "Jesus sandals" which made me wince with embarrassment as a youth... Grin

Milkshake7489 · 15/04/2021 22:48

I really like the first pair (I'm 30 for reference).

You're never too old to wear something you like OP Smile.

HelpMeh · 15/04/2021 22:49

I quite like the RB chunkier one that has also been linked.
