Alpha H liquid gold is amazing stuff - what else is like this?

Honestly, I look about 5 years younger and as though I've had 15 hours of the best sleep ever when I put this on my face.

I don't know if it's a bit harmful doing it every night.

But if this works for you, what else works on your skin?

Just applied this to my face for the first time! Put a bit of moisturiser on after as per the instructions. Feeling a slight warmth to my face. Hoping to wake up looking 20!

Kwackerly · 14/04/2021 22:09

Not as fancy as some of these things, but I got some la roche-posay effaclar duo cream a week or so ago, it's an anti-clogging cream that's meant to help with redness/rosacea, and my skin has never looked so good! No more dry flaky skin, no greasy patches, just smooth soft skin much more even and fresh looking, and tiny red veins are much reduced. For me it's absolutely brilliant and it was only £11 on Amazon. I am 48 with oily yet dry in places complexion, so nice Grin Would also love to hear of anything to improve wrinkly cleavage!

Divineswirls · 15/04/2021 02:45

@MotherOfGodHoulYerWhisht

Thanks everyone, definitely getting the LG!

Can anyone recommend something for my wrinkly, sundamaged décolletage? Would the Liquid Gold also help with that do you think? I’m 43

Yes you can swipe it on your décolletage with wha'ts left on the cotton pad.
I found that Prai neck cream worked wonders on my wrinkly, sun damaged décolletage which I thought would never resolve itself after 20 years but its now healthy, juicy, normal skin again.
MotherOfGodHoulYerWhisht · 15/04/2021 16:46

Excellent! Thank you @Divineswirls

Divineswirls · 15/04/2021 17:41

Revolution at Superdrug sell a glycolic that I'm planning on testing out once my Liquid gold runs out

OxanaVorontsova · 15/04/2021 17:57

I use the Superdrug naturally radiant aha I think it’s 5%, Seems to work well

peachgreen · 15/04/2021 17:57

M&S are doing a free Alpha H skincare kit with every two Alpha H purchases. I had some vouchers so have treated myself to two bottles of Liquid Gold. I got some in the advent calendar a few years ago and it was pretty incredible. Have been trying to recreate it with cheaper glycolic acids ever since but never managed it, so I'm just going to go for it!

peachgreen · 15/04/2021 17:58

@kwackerly I swear by Effeclar Duo, it's the only thing that keeps my skin relatively blemish-free.

peachgreen · 15/04/2021 18:01

Every time I try retinols my skin goes bananas. I did a full month this time in case it was purging but no, I was left dull, red and blemish-prone. What am I doing wrong?!

MotherOfGodHoulYerWhisht · 15/04/2021 18:53

@Bananarama3star

For those wanting to try the Alpha H Liquid Gold....I have just ordered the anniversary set off QVC for £32 ( plus P&P) it includes the normal 100ml size, plus a 50ml and a 30ml bottle and a small mask, currently £33.50 in M&S just for the 100ml size alone.
Cheers Bananarama I’ve never bought from QVC before, do you want to pm me a referral code? We’ll both get £10 off then. Don’t worry if not, I’ll just google one.
Divebar2021 · 16/04/2021 20:21

Yes thanks for the QVC recommendation- I just revived a very old account and ordered the Liquid gold with a Vitamin C product for £30 something

bookish83 · 16/04/2021 21:55

Asos have the gift set too, for a little cheaper Smile

Bananarama3star · 17/04/2021 17:21

Sorry MotherOfGodHoulYerWhisht I've only just seen your message! I presume you've already ordered now Smile

MotherOfGodHoulYerWhisht · 18/04/2021 09:34

Yes I have sorry @Bananarama3star. Thanks again for the heads up though, looking forward to trying it now Smile

Bananarama3star · 18/04/2021 09:39

That's good, let us know how you find it!
I've used it twice now, my skin is definately a better texture in the morning and make-up goes on nicely.

rainbowfairydust · 18/04/2021 09:47

Going to follow this!
Is this OK for breastfeeding?
I had acne as a teen which lessened to just hormonal acne once a month as an adult but my skin is perfect whilst breastfeeding. Prepared for it to flare when my periods return though. I only use a cleanser and gentle moisturiser atm and an olay eye gel, think I need to up my game at 37 as I wear foundation and powder daily which shows up all the fine lines

HelenHywater · 18/04/2021 12:34

Glad you like it @Bananarama3star .

I've now acquired some Paula's Choice BHA and vit c stuff (they very kindly sent me a 20% off email last week) to try. And sent an exceptionally unflattering photo to Skin + Me.

I remember now that Oskia renaissance serum also has a really good instant effect. I must have got it in an advent calendar though, because it's £100 a bottle Shock .

I used LG some years ago and can't say, in all honesty, I noticed much difference in my skin. What I did notice though was that when I spilt a bit on the shelf in my bathroom cupboard the paint blistered!

Not sure if that's a reflection on my rhino hide skin, or on my cheap paint :)

Rainallnight · 02/05/2021 23:27

I’ve just put on my newly purchased Liquid Gold and had a mad scramble for moisturiser as my night cream was all gone!

Does it matter what moisturiser you put on afterwards?

TableNiner · 03/05/2021 10:06

I used to use LG years back, think it became less effective over time.

I don’t think I bothered with a moisturiser but I was early thirties and using it as an acne treatment.

I love the balancing cleanser from Alpha H, great for removing make up if you aren’t into double cleansing.

Workyticket · 03/05/2021 10:09

@Freetodowhatiwant

I find Pixi glow tonic is excellent followed by The ordinary hylaronic acid. Whenever I regular use this routine I get compliments about my skin.
Bought Pixiglow recently but I find it stings a bit. Is that normal do you know please?
MotherOfGodHoulYerWhisht · 23/05/2021 01:29

So, as a complete skincare virgin I bought the Liquid Gold after reading this thread. I’ve now been using it on alternate nights for a couple of weeks and can truly, honestly say I love it. My skin looks and feels so different and I’m now a convert. Thank you OP and also to the other posters who concurred it’s brilliance.
I also splurged (after another recommendation on here) on the Prai, evening neck cream which is also brilliant, and alongside the LG (on alternate evenings) has definitely helped plump out my wrinkly cleavage. Does anyone know if I’m ok to use the neck cream on my face? I really want to try a retinol cream but don’t know where to start, it would obviously be cheaper for me to just use the Prai, neck cream (which contains retinol).
Do I really need separate lotions and potions? Any help really appreciated.

HelenHywater · 27/05/2021 07:24

Just saw this - glad you like it @MotherOfGodHoulYerWhisht

I'm going to try the Prai neck cream!

OP posts:
Ponks · 27/05/2021 07:34

Ah the Prai neck cream is great, I finished mine and have been using up other moisturisers on my neck instead, and I can tell the difference, so I'll be getting more prai when I can find a good offer. Think Boots had a buy one get one half price?

I'm sure you could use the Prai on your face as well, though I think it will be a weaker strength retinol as it's meant for the neck. If you're after a cheap starter retinol for the face I can recommend The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% emulsion or Indeed Labs Retinol Reface. Both gentle and pretty good.

Hodgedodge · 27/05/2021 08:30

What LED mask do you use @Namaste6? Does it help?
