Grin Posh
freezingmytoesoff · 27/03/2021 21:24

Ralph Lauren?

TheMarzipanDildo · 27/03/2021 21:25

My DB (16) likes bloody Flannels. He’s not posh at all though- just a spendthrift.

savvy7 · 27/03/2021 21:37

My posh boy likes plain unbranded hoodies

PrintempsAhoy · 27/03/2021 21:37

I thought Gucci and Canada Goose etc were the opposite of posh? It’s drug dealer kit, right? Or nouveau riche Grin I guess drug dealers are the new nouveau riche Wink

The only proper posh teen boy that I know wears stuff from depop (vintage Adidas) and scruffy unbranded stuff

Are you looking to buy your godson a present?

Cowbells · 27/03/2021 21:41

Round here it's Adidas because all the public school boys want to look like roadmen. Also Supreme and some Jack Wills - though that's more what their parents buy them.

drainrat · 27/03/2021 21:47

Etonians and Wykehamists: Uniqlo, Nike, Adidas, North Face. Or joke hoodies they’re buying on the internet.

They none of them care very much about clothing or trainers.

DaphneBridgerton · 27/03/2021 22:03

Supreme

Mumsnut · 28/03/2021 09:36

Is Superdry lame then?

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 28/03/2021 09:52

Grin at Gucci, Monclear (if not on a mountain), Canada Goose being ‘posh’. They are the exact opposite. They’re the 2021 equivalent of Burberry in the 90’s. Posh don’t need to shout its presence.

Posh boys I know wear unbranded, hand me downs, nicked off their mates etc. If it is branded, it’s high end outdoor wear such as Rab, or Icebreaker.

Cowbells · 28/03/2021 09:53

@Mumsnut - I asked DC about Superdry. They told me it's where parents buy street clothes. Hmm They see it as for middle aged people (by which they mean late twenties, thirties.)

CarpetDiem · 28/03/2021 09:56

I think with 16yo the best thing to do is to ask him directly, that way if he says moncler or Gucci you can just get him a selfridges gift card to suit your budget. If he’s posh posh he won’t wear branded hoodies.
My DS wears northface hoodies but we’re not posh, he has started buying less sporty clothes from river island. I like Superdry, 16yo DS doesn’t.

UntamedWisteria · 28/03/2021 09:56

How posh?

Definitely NOT Jack Wills or Superdry.

DS likes vintage football shirts bought from Depop. North Face is popular with the public school crowd.

HandforthParishCouncilClerk · 28/03/2021 09:57

At the moment the trend seems to be the same as it was when I was at boarding school in the 90s! The classic worker/skater brands but absolutely no big logos - Carhartt, Dickies, Vans

Or vintage - Levi’s, Adidas, Nike

Preferably at least a size too big

UntamedWisteria · 28/03/2021 09:58

Vintage Adidas also good.

You will get maximum points for vintage.

I wish Depop did vouchers ...

TechnoDino · 28/03/2021 10:01

Posh or wealthy? Different things.
Round here (conspicuous wealth flashing) it’s all Supreme and Gucci.

itsgettingwierd · 28/03/2021 10:02

@Eve

My DS won’t wear anything branded - that’s for drug dealers apparently.Confused
Grin

My 16yo ds says the same.

Not just drug dealers though - apparently people who wear brands are always the bullies who think they are something because they wear Nike 🤷‍♀️🤣

tiredmum2468 · 28/03/2021 10:04

@Eve
Yes, exactly!!!!

toffeebutterpopcorn · 28/03/2021 10:04

Well the boys not posh - but goes to a posh school I guess. He tends to wear sports team hoodies (US leagues that his auntie sends over).

itsgettingwierd · 28/03/2021 10:05

I had a Carhart hoody at 19! I wore Roxy and Carhart!

But mainly because I worked ski seasons - got a bloody good discount and then brought my summer season clothes before leaving resort and flying off to warmer climes!

Squeejit · 28/03/2021 10:17

We’re not even slightly posh but my boys wear skate brands like Huf, Rip n Dip, Polar and NikeSB.

Atalune · 28/03/2021 10:20

North face
Patagonia
Supreme
Dickies
Carhartt
Champion
Rip and dip

17CherryTreeLane · 28/03/2021 10:27

My Ds likes Ralph Lauren and come de garçon.

17CherryTreeLane · 28/03/2021 10:27

Oops - comme de garçon

ThePricklySheep · 28/03/2021 10:30

I think it’s really specific to their friends. I’d just ask their parent.
