PeacheyPeach · 08/03/2021 09:38

Ive been using superdrug hotcloth vitamin D cleanser which is nice but i think has irritated my skin. Think i need to rethink all my skincare products again and start off with a dfferent cleanser.
What is a nice gentle one for someone with rosacea,

Rosacea sufferer here! I'm on Lymecycline which has really turned my skin around and keeps it under control. I have used so many different face products from Dermalogica, Clarins, Clinique etc but I have really learned that going back to basics is best. I use Simple soap on my face whilst in the shower each day instead of cleaner and then just Nivea sensitive facial moisturiser (the purple one).

lookdeepintotheparka · 08/03/2021 11:11

I use a hot cloth cleanser (the Liz Earle one) and have found its fine as long as I wash off with lukewarm water. Otherwise it definitely does set off my rosacea again!

I used Soolantra (GP prescribed) for 4 months a few years ago and it made such a difference to my skin. I just need to be careful not to trigger it through harsh products or heat.

PeacheyPeach · 08/03/2021 12:51

@ilovebruuuceandbags aww thank you i think this is what im going to have to do just go back to basics. Can i ask if you wear makeup what do you use to take it off or do you jsut use the simple soap?

@lookdeepintotheparka i must try and get an appointment with the gp to see about getting a prescription for soolantra as ive seen this recommended on a few threads.

Can i ask do you.just leave your skin alone. No serums or anything?

LakeFlyPie · 08/03/2021 12:53

Soolantra helped me too, had to explain to GP what it was!
I think using cetaphil cleanser and moisturiser has made the most difference overall

stayathomer · 08/03/2021 12:57

Another for cetaphil, between this and avene skin recovery cream, cicaplast and Roche posay hydraphase, my skin has gone back to what it was pre flare ups.

PeacheyPeach · 08/03/2021 16:04

Thank you @lakeflypie and @stayathomer
Ive just ordered an avene set which has the cleanser and moisturiser in. Going to give that a go and see how i get on. With the rosacea being on my chin do you thinki could use a serum on other parts of my face that are not affected or should i just leave alone!

OP posts:
MuddleMoo · 08/03/2021 16:27

Another vote for Cetaphil. Be as gentle as you can and go easy on the products.

MuddleMoo · 08/03/2021 16:28

Avene is good also. Just take it easy. I'd skip the serum for a bit. Less is more

Getoutofbed25 · 08/03/2021 16:42

Have a look at a company called Inaessentialsuk, they do Organic Rosevwater that has calmed my skin and also chamomile water which I haven’t yet tried. We are having lots of success with the lavender water for my teenagers spots. I’m amazed at their product!

Getoutofbed25 · 08/03/2021 16:43

I cleanse with Cerave and then use the Rosewater. Then moisturise again with Cerave

PeacheyPeach · 08/03/2021 16:48

@muddlemoo thanks, think i will leave off the serum. My skin looks a mess so think it needs a rest.

OP posts:
PeacheyPeach · 08/03/2021 16:49

@getoutofbed25 thank you i will take a look at that because i have been thinking about my teenagers skin also especially with them having to wear masks all day now x

Best of luck with it OP!!!

zippyswife · 08/03/2021 21:36

The hot cloth cleansing is a sure fire way to irritate my skin.

Avene gentle cleanser and almond oil seems to keep my rosacea under control.

Good luck- it takes a while to get a handle on it but you'll get there.

SeeSawSeen · 08/03/2021 23:51

Hi OP. La Roche Posay Toleriane Dermo-cleanser was a game changer for my rosacea. I actually feel the heat going out of my face after cleansing, it's magic for me. I follow up with the LRP Hydraphase moisturiser and serum, and, touch wood, I haven't had any bad flare-ups in ages.
Good luck, I hope you find something that works for you!

PeacheyPeach · 09/03/2021 22:41

@zippyswife thank you i do think that the hotcloth cleanser has not helped at all, so looking forward to using the avene when its.delivered!
@seesawseen hi there is the La Roche Posay serum ok for rosacea? I have to admit ive only stopped using serum for a few.days but my skin is already feeling not as soft im really missing using it!

ilovebruuuceandbags · 09/03/2021 22:44

Hi OP,

Yes I wear make up and just use the soap to remove (but use Nivea waterproof eye make up remover for mascara). I find that Clinique Even Better foundation covers well and doesn't irritate me and use Benefit Bo-ing concealer pot for a bot extra coverage on my cheeks.

Best of luck finding what works well for you.

Stonecrop · 09/03/2021 22:47

Caroline hirons was recommending Mother Earth products for rosacea I think?

Stonecrop · 09/03/2021 22:48

Sorry meant to say mother dirt which is a ‘live’ product

supercatlady · 09/03/2021 22:56

I use Emma Hardie cleanser. It smells lush.
I used to find dermalogica was just too gentle and I had blocked pores and congested skin.

ChiaraMontague · 10/03/2021 19:50

Another vote for Cetaphil!

ShouldHaveCouldHaveWouldHave · 10/03/2021 19:56

I use Pai calming cleanser. Have tried lots but this is my favourite. Emma Hardie is also nice and I like Aurelia Probiotic. Basically all the ones that cost a bloody fortune don’t upset my skin.

Serum I’m using either Pai (Kalmer) or S5.

wintertime6 · 10/03/2021 20:03

I have suffered badly with red, blotchy and sensitive skin and have been making more of an effort with skincare recently.

I started using the Avene antirougeurs cleanser twice a day and SPF and moisturiser. And I also gave up alcohol which has possibly had the biggest effect on my skin. Now that my skin is used to that and has settled down a bit, I've added in a vitamin C serum in the morning and the Clarins double serum at night. I have definitely seen a big difference in my skin.

SeeSawSeen · 10/03/2021 21:17

@PeachyPeach I use the LRP Hydraphrase serum on damp skin. I have a LRP mist that I use after cleansing, then the serum on top. I use Rosehip Oil from (The Ordinary) twice a week too, which really takes away the dryness.
LRP does definitely have a specialist rosacea range, but I have never used it. I find that rosacea products make my already dry skin even drier, and therefore redder and angrier! Oh, to have normal skin....Smile

I thought I was the only one!!
