Ive been using superdrug hotcloth vitamin D cleanser which is nice but i think has irritated my skin. Think i need to rethink all my skincare products again and start off with a dfferent cleanser.
What is a nice gentle one for someone with rosacea,

By the way on the hot cloth cleanser front, I was always told heat totally exacerbates roseacea

Iceskatingfan · 10/03/2021 21:51

It’s not cheap and it’s not exactly a cleanser (although they do have a cleanser in the sameness range) but Elemis rose exfoliator has helped me massively with my rosacea.

Iceskatingfan · 10/03/2021 21:51

I tried that Liz Earle hot cloth thing and it flared mine right up!

sanfranfibber · 10/03/2021 21:53

I find Cerave makes my skin worse than ever! So irritating there isn't just a safe set of products

SeeSawSeen · 10/03/2021 23:43

@stayathomer

I find that rosacea products make my already dry skin even drier, and therefore redder and angrier! I thought I was the only one!!
You're not alone, @stayathomer!
PeacheyPeach · 11/03/2021 09:15

Ive kept away from the cleanser aswell as all my other skincare products other than moisteriser this week as im waiting for the avene stuff to arrive and my skin has calmed down so much already. It just feels so rough like it needs something aswell as moisteriser. Do you think the la Roche posay hydraphase serum would be ok x

I use Cerave Hydrating Cleanser in the morning and at night Clinique cleansing oil. Cerave Spf moisturiser in the morning & a mix of GOW Azelaic acid & rosehip oil at night. The Azelaic acid I find makes the biggest difference to any Rosacea redness I may have.

PeacheyPeach · 11/03/2021 13:38

@fferny1 i thought that acids were a bit of a no go if you have rosacea xx

OP posts:
Fferny1 · 11/03/2021 14:06

Azelaic Acid is a common treatment for Rosacea - Skinoren - for Papular Rosacea. It's the one acid thats recommended. I just use the serum from Garden of Wisdom , so its not as strong as Skinoren.

SeeSawSeen · 11/03/2021 15:37

@PeacheyPeach The Hydraphase serum works really well for me, but I'd hate you to spend your money on it and it not work for you, or even worse, set your skin off again! I wonder if you could get a sample first? As you know, it's very hit and miss with products...a lot of the highly recommended ones, for example, do nothing for me. I think it's just sheer luck really, finding something that suits.

PeacheyPeach · 11/03/2021 18:44

@seesawseen your right i should try and get a sample first. Especially as i have a draw full of now redundant skincare products 🤣

I’ve got all the la Roche Posay rosacea stuff and it’s the only thing that has helped my skin. I had metrogel and for a year which made it worse then I tried antibiotics which did nothing except get me hospitalised as I discovered I was allergic to tetracyclines 😬. Tried various other skincare ranges that also did nothing for me. My rosacea is still there but it has calmed down considerably and I don’t get the dry, cracked, flaky skin and spots anymore. My skin isn’t hot and painful anymore either. It’s just smooth red skin now but the redness is starting to lessen and I’m hoping that it will fade eventually. La Roche Posay has been a miracle for me!

PeacheyPeach · 12/03/2021 14:19

Thanks everyone for all your fab suggestions x my avene cleanser , moisteriser came this morning so will see.how i get on with this . I have ordered some simply hydrating serum from superdrug as it seems to have good reviews and its only £3.99 so not a lot to spend if i dont like it!!

Avene. Great range for sensitive skin. Don’t use anything harsh.

FoofOfTheWalkingDead · 12/03/2021 21:09

I've tried avene and and anti-b cream from the dr but both irritated my face. I was told to never use oily products on my skin and it seems to bear out. So, no serums! My go to is Clinique Redness Solutions. If I run out, I have an oil free nivea moisturiser but it mildly irritates my face. I use the redness solutions foundation and powder too.

AnnieGetYourPun · 12/03/2021 21:33

Ahhh, ok. Avene’s been lovely for my ageing skin.

FoofOfTheWalkingDead · 13/03/2021 21:36

Sorry @AnnieGetYourPun, I wasn't directing that last one at you!

Bigpinkslippers · 13/03/2021 21:49

I use tropic cleanser, toner, moisturizer, mineral makeup, serums, eye cream, body pebbles. Nothing from tropic has caused a flare up. I know its a mlm but for me all the products are fab.

AnnieGetYourPun · 13/03/2021 23:11

That’s ok, OP 😊

I’m really impressed with the Avene anti-aging stuff. It’s nice. But then, I’m OLD 😂

PeacheyPeach · 13/03/2021 23:25

Was just wondering if you ever used face masks or are these a no no ?

I have the Eve Lom Rescue Mask and I’ve used calming sheet masks before. Avene also do a soothing mask in a tube as do REN I think.
I also got a free Dr Jart one the other week from Boots but haven’t tired it yet.

ShouldHaveCouldHaveWouldHave · 14/03/2021 09:54
