I spent nearly £70 on one eyeshadow palette AMA

Obviously I’m joking, but I really did buy a Chantecaille Butterfly palette, it was £68 (but I got it for about £54 with vouchers) and it is SO GORGEOUS. I feel like I’ve ruined myself for other eyeshadows now, but it’s just perfect for me.

Here’s a couple of pictures of it, photos really don’t do it justice. It’s so perfect for a pretty spring look for crepey eyelids!

What are your favourite splurge items? This is definitely my top one, I used to really like Chanel foundation but the buggers discontinued it!

Would you mind if asked how old you are?

LunaTheCat · 03/03/2021 21:16

It is beautiful
I spent los money on Bobbi Brown Christmas one which is just gorgeous too!

viewsoftheshard · 03/03/2021 21:18

Those colours look absolutely beautiful on you, I never would have though they would work just looking at the palette but wow, stunning on

BilboBercow · 03/03/2021 21:25

I just don't understand how those 4 little eyeshadow can be worth £68

I’m 38. My eyelids are extremely crepey and wrinkly after a particularly bad bout of eczema unfortunately.

I know what you meant was I look 28 though Wink

Oh god they’re not worth £68, not in a month of Sundays! Chantecaille has a great ethical background but it’s still way overpriced.

This is a treat as I’m getting a YUGE bonus in March, otherwise I’d probably do with the many other shadows I already own, or just not bother at all.

@viewsoftheshard I watched a YouTube review before I splashed the cash and they look so different on that in the pan. They’re so soft and creamy as well, and although I had some fading there was no creasing which is unheard of. I didn’t bother with primer as I wasn’t going out.

I’ve used their individual eyeshadows and they are very beautiful to wear.

. Paired with pink blush and a pink lanolips lip balm I also received in today’s internet shopping splurge, I felt really pretty today.

Is this brand ok/good to use if you suffer from eczema around your eyes?

I treated myself to it too - it’s sooo bloody gorgeous. Sorry not sorry…

GrumpyHoonMain · 03/03/2021 21:54

I think you should try the trinny london eyeshadow

TokyoSushi · 03/03/2021 21:58

Oh that's very lovely! I see they do another set of 6 eyeshadows, a snip at £333! Grin

It does look like vair naice eyeshadow though!

Uptoongirl · 03/03/2021 22:02

I'm pleased it's paid off for you...whenever I treat myself to something pricey I regret it. Looking at you Chanel Soleil Bronzer and you Hourglass Palette!

ShrimpSymphonyofSeasonalSongs · 03/03/2021 22:07

I bought Bobbi Brown Luxe Gems palette for similar price last year and I regret nothing it’s amazing. Enjoy your palette OP

I bloody hope so @misscockerspaniel! I haven’t had a flair up in over two years and know how to deal with it now if I do. It was my mum’s laundry detergent that triggered it!

@Uptoongirl I’ve had some duds too. Wasn’t a fan of Hourglass ambient light, and I bought a similar product by Delilah which I was hoping was going to be a more golden version of ambient light - it’s just a highlighter. For £35 Confused. I’m pleased with this and the lanolips I bought today though.

I love it so much! The shadows look so different on, in a good way, but it’s weird the only one that looks exactly the way I expect it to is the iridescent one.

I’ve just looked that one up - they don’t even have a picture of the shadows?! Like I’m gonna drop £333 on shadows I can’t even see?! actually can’t guarantee I wouldn’t

They are quite sheer - I promise in real life you can see them! They also look nicer with the full face but I’m not sure I’m ready to share that...

The pigment is pretty non existent for the price tbh, I’d be very disappointed.

picklemewalnuts · 03/03/2021 22:19

Can you put it on more intensely for us to see? I love colour, and find current fashion of barely there eye shadow disappointing!

Piccalino3 · 03/03/2021 22:25

You have beautiful eyes and I think the shadow looks great - just that perfect cross between sheen and shimmer which is really hard to get right. I love it when a beauty splurge pays off. Enjoy it!

Check out the YouTube video I posted - it’s better on there. I suck at taking a pic using the back camera which is what I need to do really. I don’t really like strong shadows on myself, it just accentuates my crinkly eyes.

@NonagonInfinityOpensTheDoor honestly I’m totally fine with it. The colours are just exactly what I wanted.

@Piccalino3 thank you! You’re right the formula is beautiful, that and the colours are just perfect.

I really cannot see the colours on you at all. You look perfectly nice etc but all I'm seeing is a very insipid slight shimmer.

I do have some chatecaille make up - mainly use the blusher in 'red ginger' which is lovely - but I'd like to see a more pigmented blend before spending £68.
