@UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme that's a lovely blazer. I think I like it styled with the tunic best, but it's also very nice with the darker trousers.
It looks very smart, but you could easily size down and still look great.

@UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme ah thank you!

I definitely recommend the Next wide leg jeans I am wearing - so comfy! I'm a pear shape (and have thickened somewhat over lockdownWink) and have two pairs. One that are more fitted round the hips - much more a classic flared shape, and these which are looser all round. Both fab - Next have definately come up trumps for me in the jeans department.

Just jumping on if there’s room for another Smile I need to start thinking more positively about my wardrobe and body - rather than buying clothes that don’t fit “ for one day” and just living in Pjs until that day < that is unlikely to arrive >

I agree about how useful this thread is on several levels. There have been pictures of things like dungarees and jumpsuits and, while I'm still not sure if they're "me", it's been good to see how great they look when I presumed they would be a no-no for the more generously proportioned.

It feels like a nice environment to discuss stuff which my husband - currently the only person I'm seeing really (apart from the lady at the garage who keeps stroking my handbag Grin) - has no interest in whatsoever and my two best friends are both going through the furlough mill at the moment so it seems a bit insensitive to say "wanna see my new boots?" or maybe they'd like the distraction? I like that we sometime veer off the main subject to discuss life.

I feel like I've made some genuine friends on here. I hope between us we are building up each other's self-esteem.

I'll post today's picture separately as it's on my phone and I'm typing this on my desktop (hence the length!). It's a top I haven't worn for a while as I needed to remove the white maribou feathers I'd tacked on for a Christmas jumper day at work ha ha. It was £6 in a Simply Be sale a couple of years back and I love it, so it's a true bargain.

Welcome @Imkindreally
Very nice too @StCharlotte - I especially like the neckline. The bright colour is very appropriate for spring
Today I'm wearing a jigsaw drapey t-shirt and sparkle knit cardigan both size L with black jeans from Uniqlo size 32 waist.

Love these outfits Charlotte and alpha!

I cannot believe that top was only £6!! That really was a bargain find!

I agree btw, that this thread is, for me, more than just clothes! Definitely have delved into many more subjects than fashion and found loads of common ground I think. It's been lovely to have a source of friendship and chat, when it's harder IRL at the moment!

That said, I also love the fashion chat!!

Speaking of which, I'm in jeans and a hoodie - not my finest hour. But it's a weird day weather wise here. Sunny and cold! I'm off to the shops on hoof, (for the exercise and groceries), so this felt about right.

Oh and my top is too short which is the story of my life Grin, so I've got a longline, fitted tank top underneath.

You've certainly sussed what shape suits you @ParisJeTAime - that look really shows off your hourglass figure.

And @alphaechokiwi I do like a drapey top - that one looks lovely.

Thinks back fondly of two drapey wrap tops I owned and wore to death...

Morning all. Hope you're all well today.

Today is the first outing for this dress (Manteray at Debenhams) with black tights and calf length boots.

Very unusually I had to wash it first as it smelt very chemically. It's still not right but a good spray of Febreze has improved things and reminded me I need to order some new perfume Wink

StCharlotte I love the neckline and length of that top, and the colour actually - definitely a massive bargain and looks great! That reminds me I have an orange top (plain round neckline though) as part of an emergency change of clothes in my work rucksack - I should really switch the contents out so I actually get to wear it!

alphaechokiwi I like that drapey top a lot too!

ParisJeTAime the long top underneath looks good - not like a bodge because the top is too short, but like a deliberate layered look, and it works well I think - lots of people seem to deliberately do the long, more fitted, top under shorter top atm.

Oh lovely StC! That's a great shape and length on you imo. Also love the colour and print.

Yes, I've had that with a couple of denim things fairly recently! I got a denim dress from Asos sustainable range, (sent back as no good), which STANK. It was meant to be organic cotton or something, but it smelt like a garage forecourt! It was not nice on anyway, so it went back. I found my Sienna jeans a bit smelly too, to begin with, but they're fine now after a few washes.

Here I am anyway:

Seasalt dress, 18
Navy jumper, don't know where from, probably a 16
Navy snags
Seasalt Towpath, dark brown knee boots, 7 (not in shot, but they are on my feet)!

Good morning StCharlotte - nice dress! What perfume do you wear (when not wearing fabreze? WinkGrin ) I've never worn perfume - put off by my mother's excessively stong Chanel No 5 (presumably she uses far too much... anyway its quite overpowering and I hated that the children stank of it if she held them as babies). But I am starting to like the idea of a vanilla and lavender perfume maybe... Wierdly it was the combination of reading Troubled Blood and my youngest having a phase of checking how people smell (! he's a funny child Grin ) and commenting that "Mummy's smell is just clean" that made me start to ponder a late start as a perfume wearer!

ParisJeTAime I like that jumper - also a good neckline and colour - and your bracelet too!

I'm in a light grey hush v neck - XL and a bit big so I have a next longline vest top underneath. Its lovely and soft and not bulky, I love wearing it, but it takes oversized slouchy possibly a bit too far to be that flattering... Also wearing my Next bootcut jeans.

I feel as though I wear such similar stuff day to day that its not worth a photo every time, but its what works with my life! Due to digging them out when I joined this thread this thread I'll be putting my heeled boots on instead of trainers when I go out - small changes Grin I'd only been wearing trainers, hiking shoes or bulky winter snow boots handed "down" to me from my 13 year old son for years until I joined the thread and dug out my heeled boots from the bottom of my wardrobe for a Saturday style challenge!

Actually I'm hoping to get a walk in, do I will be wearing hiking shors the first time I leave the house... I was hoping to get dc3 going with homeschooling then go, but he's even more flitty and easily distracted than usual today and has only just finished yesterday's homework (he's at school alternate days since last week and was at school yesterday - I was at work til 8pm yesterday and DH didn't make him do his homework when he got home) ... He's decided to return to an old interest in learning Japanese and keeps stopping what he's meant to be doing to "have a break" and write out words in hirigana, which is all very good but he has at least 5 homeschooling tasks still to do so I feel obliged to stay and try to keep him on track even though DH is home, on work calls in our room...

Guitar lessons have started up again so I'll be driving to town in my smart boots to take dc3 to the music school then his occupational therapy appointment this afternoon in my "posh" (for me) ankle boots - that's as far as dressing smartly goes in my day to day life BlushGrin

@ParisJeTAime Do you have two pairs of those Towpath boots?! I do like those Seasalt dresses on you.

@UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme I'm a one-scent girl and I wear Happy by Clinique. It's light and orangey. I can't do "grown up" perfume. Years ago my mum went abroad and asked me what I'd like brought back from duty free and I asked for fags Chanel No. 5, a proper perfume not a spray. I'd never even smelt it before, I was just a sucker for advertising, even in my teens. Turns out I didn't really like it and never wore it and it ended up being the most expensive air freshener known to man as if I heard my mum coming towards my bedroom, I would spray it to cover up the smell of smoking. Which almost certainly didn't work Grin. Kids eh?

I jut had a call from work. I've been working from home (diabetic) but there is a small physical paperwork element of my job that has to be done in the office. The natives (my colleagues) are now rebelling and the (very lovely) office manager has just suggested I pop in for an hour before the office opens to sort out my paperwork. I said "but that's my getting ready hour!" and she said, "what changing into day pyjamas?". So I had to confess that I have religiously stuck to my morning routine and I have to get fully dressed and do my usual hair and make up so that I feel like I've got ready for work. Otherwise that way Netflix lies...

Oh no @StCharlotte! Sorry you're having to go in for an hour's paperwork. So funny they think you're in PJs everyday! I know that is far from the case!

StCharlotte thanks for the perfume information - I wouldn't do "grownup" either - light or reminiscent of something edible (fruit, Vanilla...) I think GrinBlush but I do also love the smell of real lavender - the plant, not sure if a perfume would smell like the actual plant...

What did you decide about going into the office? Could you go late rather than early?

Hello LivingDeadGirlUK glad you've washed its more than my DC2 manages without nagging GrinBrew

@UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme This link might give you some ideas or there's a perfume thread on here where I imagine someone will be able to recommend something. Imagine next time you're in the airport, you can run round and try them all! Those will be the days!

www.globalblue.com/destinations/france/paris/top-10-lavender-perfumes

So far as the office is concerned, I will probably need to pop in maybe a couple of times a week and I will go in early because then I can finish early. I could go in late but I'd rather finish early. It's a shame really as it's only for the sake of another three weeks and I don't think I generate that much work for them and, if I can be a bit snarky, I can tell from the system that I'm already doing waaaaaaay more than all of them - sometimes more than all of them put together. Ah well... It has been agreed that I will be going back to the office full time from April. I worked from home during the first lockdown and then went back to the office in July until December when we had quite a serious outbreak in the office and I had to self-isolate as a close contact. Then Tier 4 and lockdown happened so they just said stay at home. Now I've had the first jab so I'm going back. But they're made it covid-safe and I won't be sharing an office with anyone for the foreseeable so I'm not worried. Also, it's about a 20 minute walk away (involving a big hill) so the exercise will be good and I'll be able to go to Waitrose which is at that end of town. Hurrah! Every cloud and all that...

(Can I just say, my neighbour dropped something in this evening and said "wow you look lovely, I love your dress!". So I think it's a hit Grin)
