SO the last 'edition' took over a year to complete. Must try harder Voguettes. Despite the fact that we are still in lockdown, and rarely out of loungewear, there is still inspiration to be found. Spring is springing, brighter days are on the horizon and homeschooling CANNOT last forever (not if miniShop wants to live anyway).
So join us for style & beauty chat, and other inspiration as we navigate our way as stylishly as possible through lockdown 3.

Thanks @JaneJeffer, I'll give that a go tomorrow. It's really annoying because as soon as it's wet, you can't see the stain so think it's gone, then lo and behold it appears again.

I'm definitely over skinnies @SummaLuvin. I've been liking cropped flares but now the weather is warm, I'm all about a dress. I'm seeing lots of people wearing wide trousers rather than jeans too.

limesoda · 09/06/2021 11:00

@SummaLuvin and @Stokey I feel you with the skinnies. It was about 6 months ago when I started paying attention to the board and there were the threads saying they were out and I thought they looked OK on me. I even tried stitchfix to lure me out but it just didn't seem to work.

Eventually these ones from Mango seem to flatter me best, so I'm using that to try some others. Christ knows what I'll do when we get to winter and need to cover my ankles, mind.

I'm really struggling with dresses. I have always primarily worn dresses but they need to be quite fitted to suit me and internet shopping just seems to result in the popularity of the shapeless sack with far too much material. The quest continues. This one was nearly perfect but the sleeves just didn't hit right on me and it was too much money to not be perfect. Might just start going for skirts and tees for a while, but then the top half looks quite dull, and I'm set to do a lot on zoom for the foreseeable.

SummaLuvin · 09/06/2021 11:21

@limesoda I don't know you style, but I like the look of a lot of Forever New. They are an Australian brand now stocked on ASOS.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 09/06/2021 14:16

I'm similar limesoda, I've always worn dresses for work and suit fitted ones, I struggle with casual dresses. I think you just have to make sure it is fitted at the waist. This doesn't help you, but I have a lovely one I got from Topshop last year which is a wrap style but ties at both sides so can be cinched in. That's pretty much it as far as my casual dresses go!

Re jeans, I haven't worn skinnies since before Covid. I like H&M Vintage Slim Ankle High. Also been thinking about wide leg. Even my tapered leg ones don't look right anymore!

Purchase update....

My sparkly Chloé shoes arrived today. They are divine.

Also keeping my Burberry raincoat, it looks fab on.

The great disappointment was the Gucci dress!!Grin So it turns out that when I was refreshing the app I actually ended up accidentally buying 3 dresses in 2 in 36 and 1 in 38. They look hideous on me!Blush. I told dh that as the 3 dresses are going back I have saved him £5kGrin

DryWhiteagainW · 10/06/2021 22:30

limesoda I love dresses too and am smallish so get swamped. Like Blair I go for more fitted styles. I love skirts but finding coordinating them a real faff..........

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 10/06/2021 23:03

limesoda ia lso wear a lot of dresses and im definitely better in soemthing fitted at the waist. Im a plus size hourglass so need that nipping at the waist or i look swamped. I do well in swing styles but a lot of the patterns are a bit twee for me now, i wear a lot of plain black these days, harking back to my goth teenage years Grin

limesoda · 11/06/2021 11:35

Yes the dress thing is so very frustrating. Its almost a bit of a trademark for me, but I just don't know where to go. Post my Marie Kondo, I did a lot of cos shapeless sacks, and that look can be amazing, but I'm trying to find some a bit..softer these days without going down the full ditsy floral midi look. Tentatively have a few skirts on order, but one arrived this morning from hush and its going straight back. It was fine but just did not spark any kind of joy. I ordered a few things and they are all going back, ackcherloi.

Delighted about the shoes @CarolineBingley and the raincoat. Also that you've saved so much money.

I put all my old clothes on ebay and have made a fortune, so have a little nest to go back into the wardrobe, which is quite exciting. Will probably keep a wodge of it for decent jeans when this IVF fandango is over (or a maternity wardrobe, but I really cannot think that positively RN).

Loving the teenage goth revival @OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack I really wish I didn't wear so much black, but it suits me, is flattering, and you don't have to worry about any wayward prints. Either that or navy.

Stokey · 11/06/2021 13:52

I'm going to go against the grain and say I quite like the small and a bit swamped look, but I'm quite boho. Having been more weighty over the last year, I don't think they work as well without the slim silhouette underneath.

I've got a Kemi Telford dress which I really like which can be worn loose or with a detachable belt to give it more shape. Her patterns are definetly not ditsy or floral! Also a couple of Hush ones.

Not sure about all the smocking that's going on this year though, I feel like it doesn't work with boobs.

Great that the shoes & Mac are keepers @CarolineBingley. Wonder if any of the lurkers had better luck with the Gucci?

Thanks again @JaneJeffer for the fairy liquid tip - it worked & my dress is now stain free. Planning on wearing it to a party my DH seems to have organised this weekend in our garden to watch the football.

DryWhiteagainW · 12/06/2021 09:44

Stokey totally agree about smocking and boobs, it looks terrible.
On the dress subject, I have a question.
Do you thing fitted shift styles to the knee are dated now or a classic style? It’s a style that suits my proportions and I love it with heels but have been wearing midi a lot more over the last year and confused now Confused

Also I need a nice cream vest top, pref in silk, anyone seen any?

libertyonhertravels · 13/06/2021 06:06

Gosh @DryWhiteagainW I'm struggling to remember the last time I saw someone in a fitted shift style dress Smile. It is a classic look and you look fab in those styles but it definitely doesn't feel on trend. Where are you planning to wear it though? Also I am permanently searching for silk cream vest or tank tops without success!!

I want this jumper but have bills for electrical work and central heating installation to pay this month I shouldn't have even gone looking at clothes.

DryWhiteagainW · 13/06/2021 07:55

Liberty I was just going through my wardrobe and saw them. They feel wrong now. Maybe something for holidays.

DryWhiteagainW · 13/06/2021 07:55

Nice jumper...in both colours

QueenCremant · 14/06/2021 08:50

Wow, amazing weather we are having! Loving wearing my dresses and shorts! I need dresses fitted at the waist nowadays. I could used to wear the sack shape ones but now I’m thicker round the middle I need the definition.
@DryWhiteagainW shift dresses are probably a bit dated and I was about to say you could accessorise to make them look more current but I’m not sure how…

QueenCremant · 14/06/2021 08:52

Maybe these dry Grin

QueenCremant · 14/06/2021 08:56

QueenCremant · 14/06/2021 08:57

QueenCremant · 14/06/2021 09:00

QueenCremant · 14/06/2021 09:03

JaneJeffer · 14/06/2021 23:27

Glad to be of help @Stokey

limesoda · 15/06/2021 12:35

@DryWhiteagainW is this one any good?

DryWhiteagainW · 16/06/2021 22:28

Grin QueenC so me!

Lime very pretty but I’m looking more vest than camisole, not spaghetti straps really. It is lovely (and tempting) though

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 17/06/2021 15:50

@DryWhiteagainW voila?

I've got some news... Babyblair2 is on their way, due Christmas Day (!) :) very happy but not so pleased about having to dress for my rapidly expanding waist Hmm Grin

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 17/06/2021 16:08

congratulations blair ! what lovely news Thanks Thanks

Stokey · 17/06/2021 21:15

Amazing Blair, congratulations! Sadly I do think you start showing much earlier with number 2, it's like your body remembers and just decides to become enormous instantly. How old is DS now?

Very sad the nice weather is over, loved wearing summery dresses. And the Rains coat I ordered is too big so need to return it and don't have a decent light raincoat. Booooo.
