SO the last 'edition' took over a year to complete. Must try harder Voguettes. Despite the fact that we are still in lockdown, and rarely out of loungewear, there is still inspiration to be found. Spring is springing, brighter days are on the horizon and homeschooling CANNOT last forever (not if miniShop wants to live anyway).
So join us for style & beauty chat, and other inspiration as we navigate our way as stylishly as possible through lockdown 3.

Out last night. When looking at my wardrobe I decided to wear something I haven’t worn for so long......pencil skirt and sky high stilettos (with tan leather jacket)..........have forgotten how to walk in both it turns out Shock

TortoiseShed · 30/05/2021 09:14

Oh no @DryWhiteagainW! I hope you managed to stay upright? Can't say I would have.

I was out last night too. I wore a garish (but lovely imo) floral print dress from Oliver Bonas and Star Wars Rebel Alliance high tops from Pozu and an oversize white lyocell blazer from H&M.

We have a BBQ with friends this afternoon, and think I'll wear a sage green mini dress* from &Other Stories over forest green shorts from Oasis (aiming for tonal rather than clashing), all saints snakeskin belt and a big rattan bag. Not sure about my feet actually. Will need to think about that. Maybe black leather birkies?

So excited to be planning outfits for actual socialising now! Glad to hear a few people are now fully vaccinated. I'm waiting for my second AZ and cannot wait.

Also been planning a trip with girlfriends to Paris where I once lived - staying in the same arrondissement and everything. I'm a bit giddy. Whether it goes ahead obviously is another question, but for now, it is.

*I'm fairly tall, so high street mini dresses are only suitable as long tops on me annoyingly!

TortoiseShed · 30/05/2021 09:15

Even if you did fall over, at least you looked fabulous doing it Wink

shopafrolic · 30/05/2021 15:51

oh @TortoiseShed I would love to go back to Paris - only ever visited in school or work trips. If you ever have time could you PM me your top tips in terms of where to stay? I find the whole arrondissement thing v confusing Confused
I love hearing everyone outfit planning for fun stuff. V chilled weekend here. BBQ will be fired up in a bit and I am currently sitting in the garden with a chilled glass of white wine, reading a gorgeous gardening book - The Flower Yard by Arthur Parkinson.
@DryWhiteagainW I wore heeled boots to go jean shopping the other day and found that hard so stilettos would be out of the question for me right now. Fashion kudos to you my friend.

@OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack I had my second jab on Fri - felt hideous after my first (AZ) but seem ok with the second so hope you’re ok. If your skin feels dry then take a look at the Curel range. Really good and not a bad price point. Link some of your clothes - I love seeing different stuff.

Hello everyone! Hope you're call having a nice weekend. I had a medical procedure a few days ago which has involved daily returns to the hospital to change the bandages (accompanied by painkillers!). My fashion nightmare this week has been about trying to avoid getting blood on my clothes - a MaxMara top, shawl and a Burberry jacket were my day 1 count.Hmm

I have been in London every day this week and have really noticed that office workers are dressed much more casually than pre-pandemic. If that continues into the autumn that will be a big permanent shift in work attire.

So despite attempts to stay away from light colours I am masochistically in a white desigual t-shirt (I have not bought anything from them in ages!) and Gap high rise cut off white shorts. And battered old trainersBlushWe have just come back from a day in the countryside and am now sat in the garden listening to a summer mix and wondering what drink I am going to put the fresh mint from the garden intoGrinHope everyone's day has been nice.

TortoiseShed · 30/05/2021 19:10

@shopafrolic, I've PMed you, although happy to share that I lived in the 5th and loved it Smile.

@CarolineBingley, hope you're alright! Yes, I agree re office workers at the moment. It's very casual where we are too. Wonder how long that will continue for.

QueenCremant · 31/05/2021 09:18

Hey all, sounds like you’re all enjoying the sunshine. Loving hearing about the outfits. Kudos to anyone wearing heels!
I’ve been casual this weekend as doing lots of walking. Wore a navy oasis dress yesterday and planning on hush shorts and top today.

Will be interesting to see what happens with work wear. My feeling is that it’ll stay casual for a while but then go full circle to full on power dressing.

QueenCremant · 31/05/2021 09:20

these are my sandal of choice this weekend. Not glamorous but v comfy and practical

QueenCremant · 31/05/2021 09:21

In the navy colourway. Obviously.

shopafrolic · 31/05/2021 15:16

Just been for a 7k walk with miniShop complaining the entire way. We went so slowly my Apple Watch hasn’t even registered it as daily exercise so no rings closed for me todayAngry
Off for a BBQ across the road later. Will wear Me&em maxi dress lots of room for food and it has pockets which always makes me happy. Will pair with Vejas as feet aren’t sandal ready yet.
Enjoy the sunshine ladies.

Floaty maxi dress sounds ideal for BBQ!

DS has been told to isolate by preschool, so our socialising days (of circa one weekend) are now behind us. Bad timing. Oh well. At least it's just him, so I can take the older one out over half term.

libertyonhertravels · 31/05/2021 19:22

Lovely to hear everyone chatting about the sun and dressing up.

tortoise you look great in the floral dress.

shop I hear you on the walking whinging child. DD does likewise. If I need actual exercise I let her take a scooter or bike.

I agree with queenc that work wear will get more formal again. I'm feeling a desire to dress a bit sharper. I'm not sure high stiletto type heels will come back though - they don't feel right for these (soon to be) post pandemic times. I think we're all too conscious of our vulnerability now and heels are the ultimate 'safe times' shoe. I'm predicting suits but in fabrics that allow movement, functional cross body bags and dark, plain trainers or flat/low heel ankle boots. A Kamala Harris in pantsuit and converse or Fran Libowitz blazer and cowboy boots vibe.

The glamour will come from great hair, considered jewellery, expensive glasses and the return of lipstick.

I may be talking complete shite of course but hey it's Vogue Grin

DryWhiteagainW · 31/05/2021 20:57

Tortoise annoying that you have to isolate again, so hard for little ones.

I’ve been sneaking into work with my A and G trainers with maxi dresses, no complaints yet and so comfy .....I don’t wear heels at work but love them for going out .
Re lipstick, I’m last, so have always worn those lip tint drying ones for daytime and they are fine under masks.

I’ve been enjoying my new garden sofa, made a lovely cosy corner, like an outdoor room. Went to the nursery and have gone very pink this summer in the garden. A lovely Bank Holiday potting in the sunshine.

QueenCremant · 31/05/2021 22:08

fab party shoes

QueenCremant · 31/05/2021 22:12

new flats for @CarolineBingley. Love this colour as a neutral

shopafrolic · 31/05/2021 22:52

Can’t wait for cowboy boots to come back round again

shop this TUNIC is one of the tunics im wearing as a dress. its knee length on me being short so it makes the perfect lightweight dress and the super floaty sleeves mean its nice and cool. I know the print on it isnt for everyone but it works for me, you all know ive always tended ont he more alt side of fashion Smile

went out for lunch today with my brother, nowhere fancy just for burgers but it was nice to be out and about. I havent been getting out much even when restrictions eased as being indoors for over a year has meant ive lost allt he fitness id built up so im having to really be considered about when and where i go so im not over doing it and making myself ill for days after. My sister is bringing my nieces and nephew over this week which will be nice and Im mid making plans to see Ds when he can fit me in, the boys got a better social life than i do!! Grin

Ellewoods20 · 01/06/2021 14:26

Caroline Hope you’re okay! And that your clothes don’t get ruined Wink
Queen those Chloé flats you linked are dreamy!
Been loving the warmer weather and finally being able to wear all my summer clothes. Although I must hold back on buying more white dresses Blush

Themarvellousmrsm · 02/06/2021 09:17

Wishing you a speedy & painfree recovery @CarolineBingley Maybe treat yourself to a bit of bling take the pain away!

@libertyonhertravels am liking your style forecast, definitely a return to smarter dressing will happen but hopefully killer heels are a thing of the past (unless one loves a killer heel of course!)

Being on the wrong side of 50 I have decided that I will never again wear uncomfortable shoes so naturally when heels inevitably return I will be on the lookout for nice, stylish and comfy probably more chance of finding the Loch Ness monster

Talking of cowboy boots, I loved the wellies @shopafrolic (?) linked and the Rains parkers. Did nobody fancy the adult all in ones? Grin

Themarvellousmrsm · 02/06/2021 09:18

Anybody?

libertyonhertravels · 02/06/2021 10:40

I'll pass thanks mrsm Grin

TortoiseShed · 02/06/2021 14:00

Oh hell no, sorry @Themarvellousmrsm. I'd definitely look as if I was there to fix your boiler in that!

3yo DS isolation week of half term is much more bearable thanks to the lovely weather! I also got a whole load of activities and a new trampoline to keep us all entertained. So far, not bad, but he doesn't really understand why he can't go out!

onalittledishy · 02/06/2021 15:02

I've just spent a happy half hour reading through all the posts I'd missed, although I'm about to be dragged away to make some cakes with the kids... off out for dinner tonight, first time in a restaurant in so long!! Maxi dress and sandals I think, I'm definitely in summer mode now the sun is here hurrah.

Thanks for all of the links - I'm off to buy some cloud paint, and can't stop thinking about those Sezane espadrilles Smile

CarolineBingley · 02/06/2021 20:39

Thank you @Ellewoods20 and @Themarvellousmrsm! By the way MrsM what is that hellish thing you posted?! On the other hand the silver glittery Lauren ballet flats which I was lead to by @QueenCremant makes my heart flutter.

What a glorious day! Dh and I went for a long lunch together. I got to wear stuff I haven’t worn in 2 years! I couldn’t wear a dress as I was at the doctors again in the morning so I wore...White me & em vest top with these Veronica Beard belted shorts and black castaners. The best bit was my bag. I bought this small Chloé Tess hobo bag about 18 months ago and think I have used it once! The gold bits on it meant I went full on gold jewellery including 3 stacking rings. Grin.
