SO the last 'edition' took over a year to complete. Must try harder Voguettes. Despite the fact that we are still in lockdown, and rarely out of loungewear, there is still inspiration to be found. Spring is springing, brighter days are on the horizon and homeschooling CANNOT last forever (not if miniShop wants to live anyway).
So join us for style & beauty chat, and other inspiration as we navigate our way as stylishly as possible through lockdown 3.

i havent worn make up in over a year and right now it would be wasted on me as my masks cover most of my face as they are all too big for my face and my eyes have got very hooded, my eye doctor is considering a referral to plastic surgery to have my eyelids lifted as it is actually interfering with my vision. they arent sure why theyve suddenly dropped the way they have, another one of my little medical mysteries!!

I had some more ear piercings done today, another helix and a tragus in my left ear. will have the other side done to match when these ones have healed in a few months time, i didnt want both doing at the saem time so i have one side i can sleep on ok

Stokey · 27/05/2021 08:32

Sounds painful One. Hope they heal well. I need to get my ears repierced as they've closed up having not worn earrings for years. I don't really know why I stopped but I quite fancy startimg again. Think I need to go to someone who does it with a needle rather than a gun. What do you think?

One success in the Whistles parcel, a green shift mini dress. Weather has finally picked up today. I'm wearing the stripey dress linked a couple of pages back with white Reeboks ... And have taken my tights off!!!

shopafrolic · 27/05/2021 08:53

@Stokey definitely needle rather than gun - especially if repiercing. Well done on legs out - braver than me!
@OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack Tats and piercings on the same day? Brave lady.
Wearing my Whistles Utility jumpsuit today with faithful white and black Vejas. Brunch with girlfriends and then a visit to DM.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 27/05/2021 09:10

@Stokey absolutely needle rather than gun like shop says, especially for a repiercing. I would never have gun peiricings now, my very first lobe piercings as a child were done with a gun and they took so long to heal. Needle is just much cleaner and honestly less painful. A decent place will have you sorted in no time and give you the right information for after care

Yes shop both in one morning, i dont get out much these days so wanted to make my outing count!! Grin OOTD sounds fab and very you, how is your DM doing?

shopafrolic · 27/05/2021 09:33

Not sure @OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack off to check in on her today as she is rarely honest if she is struggling. X-ray results could be up to 10 days so that’s a lot of time hobbling around alone. She refused to stay here.

OP posts:
OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 27/05/2021 12:05

oh no shop that sounds difficult to manage if shes not being honest with you. I hope the xrays come back clear and she will be okay and isnt hobbling for much longer. Its so difficult when they arent honest about if they are struggling, makes you feel so helpless. Thanks for you lovely

limesoda · 27/05/2021 14:14

Oh @shopafrolic I hope your mum is OK. The helpless feeling is shite.

Re: hair I've dyed my hair since I was about 13 so I don't really know about grey. Lockdown roots show that the silver blends in really well with my natural colour so I think it is the tone that is just right for me. It's collarbone length and a little bit wavy, and I tend to just airdry it because it doesn't really hold styling all that well so I may as well embrace it. Whenever I manage to get a haircut sorted, I might ask to blend the roots a bit so I can go longer between dye jobs, and I definitely want a fringe.

The berthie top is staying, I put it on last night and felt amazing and even got chatted up so ill take that. Also so delighted to be wearing a pair of jeans that actually fit. Amazing.

@QueenCremant I'm a daily makeup wearer, but it's so minimal. BB cream, bit of concealer, mascara, maybe a rub of glossier cloud paint on my cheeks. I do love lipstick, but generally only put it on when actually leaving the house, and face masks ruin it, so am not wearing as often as I'd like atm.

shopafrolic · 27/05/2021 17:25

Oh to ever get chatted up again @limesoda
I am tempted to grow my hair again - I used to like the wave I got from air drying (I change my hair more than I change my outfits). Oh and LOVE Cloud Paint - such a great product. Lovely and fresh looking.

QueenCremant · 27/05/2021 18:18

I just had to google cloud paint as I’d never heard of it. Is it only online? How do you know which colour to choose?

shopafrolic · 27/05/2021 18:22

Order online @QueenCremant Puff for daytime, Haze for eve. The model images give a good indication of each colour against skin tone.

Just realised I'm going out out out for dinner in Chinatown tonight. Not sure what to wear especially feet wise as will be braving the tube for the first time in months. I'll probably go midi dress, trainers & leather jacket, as not sure I'm ready for any type of heels yet.

limesoda · 28/05/2021 08:39

@QueenCremant I'm deathly pale so just went with beam because I was a bit scared. Definitely perks me up on zoom calls, I love it. Although always tempted by trinny make up, even if that's probably because I get such aggressive advertising for it.

@Stokey I cannot do heels at all so sounds fab to me. I love the trainers and dress look.

shopafrolic · 28/05/2021 08:52

@stokey Outfit for this eve sounds great. I can't imagine wearing heels at all. Mine are literally gathering dust in my wardrobe. May do the big AW / SS switch over this weekend......

OP posts:
MarshaBradyo · 28/05/2021 09:03

Yep finally I reckon coats can go in wardrobe

I agree on heels, all those GR gathering dust!
In their boxes at least, so not too bad

I’m looking at new flats that I can just put on, the amount of times I put my Marant trainers on and off in a day (laughing a bit at this but really it’s a bit of a faff)

Looking at pointed ballet flats, saw some on IG, will link

shopafrolic · 28/05/2021 09:12

First world problems @MarshaBradyo Grin

Exactly Grin

DeusEx · 28/05/2021 09:21

Can anyone recommend an alternative to glossier cloud paint? Unfortunately not available in my country though many other names are (Benefit, MAC, Lancôme...)

DeusEx · 28/05/2021 09:29

On lips, I recommend Kiehls butterstick. Less precision than lipstick, applies more like a lip balm than a lipstick but gives good colour and doesn’t really smudge so works well under a mask. Makes me feel a bit brighter when there’s no point wearing lipstick. I’d only really recommend the berry colour however - the others I find are too light to really show, and I say that as a very pale person with pale lips.

shopafrolic · 28/05/2021 17:24

Skips in.
I’ve had my second jab! Yay!
Went shopping to celebrate and finally found some decent jeans. Levi Made & Crafted column jeans
I tried on so many pairs, flares, wide legs, bootcuts but these were the most flattering. I sized up so they sit a little lower and they have a good amount of slouch which should improve with washing and wearing.
I also bought new bras as the HRT has meant I’ve gone up a cup size. Fantasie rather than Freya now as the shape was better on me.
So a good day.
@DeusEx cloud paint is the only cream blush I use so I’m not sure about others sorry.

DryWhiteagainW · 29/05/2021 07:39

Can just see you in those jeans Shop v nice.
Went out for a quick dinner last night. Midi dress, Air and Grace trainers, tan leather Massimo Dutti biker.....felt good. The tan biker will be a total winner now it’s warmer and is almost the same colour as my hair, so in love with it.

Tonight will be a heels night.

Stokey · 29/05/2021 09:17

Sounds similar to me @DryWhiteagainW, except my jacket was black.

It was strange going into Central London, it was far quieter than usual - I got a seat on a tube at Oxford Circus at 10.30pm on a Friday night - but still much more people than I'd seen for months, spilling out of bars on the streets of Soho. In a way it's more civilized once you're inside though as everyone has to be seated so no groups milling around the bar.

Summery day today, think I'm going for black light dungarees with a tee under.

Stokey · 29/05/2021 09:47

Question ladies - I need some new tees. A friend of mine used to have a brand that I loved but she's closed it and my current ones are getting a bit ragged. Any recommendations? Am looking for a mix of basics and something more interesting.

shopafrolic · 29/05/2021 11:17

I've been buying basic tees from Selected @Stokey - they have their own site and are on ASOS too. Pretty pleased so far.

im in for my secodn jab this afternoon, expecting to feel rotten like i did after the first but we'll see

Ive been wearing a lot of Killstar recently which is a slightly more grown up goth brand, they fit well and are good quaility for the price so im happy with everything ive had from them,. I know they wont be everyones style but they work for me, especially the kimono sleeve tunics which i can get away with wearing as a dress as im shorter than most so they are a decent length on me!

Have stepped up my skin care game over lockdown and im a lot happier with my skin now even though im still getting spots from wearing masks but they arent as bad now. Hylauronic acid has made the most difference to me, for the first time in years my skin is soft and not dry and tight, i use the nip and fab dragons blood one though im not sure if its actually been discontinued as it seems hard to put hands on soemtiems so might have to look for a different brand if it has

Themarvellousmrsm · 29/05/2021 18:12

What a fabulously sunny day; after taking one of the dc out for breakfast, spent the day in the garden finally putting in all the summer bedding plants.

@TortoiseShed, lovely dress, very flattering & you have a lovely figure.

I ran out of my usual ultra sun so ordered the supergoop as recommended by Dry, added the glow version too, so far so good.

I met with friends for lunch yesterday, almost normal! Outfit was MV wide crops (white) blue Boden 3/4 sleeve t, A&G trainers & MV denim jacket. Even dug out the bayswater for the first time in over a year!

For dinner with friends later I think I'll wear Zara black & white midi dress with the silver hush sliders.

Have a good weekend everyone
