SO the last 'edition' took over a year to complete. Must try harder Voguettes. Despite the fact that we are still in lockdown, and rarely out of loungewear, there is still inspiration to be found. Spring is springing, brighter days are on the horizon and homeschooling CANNOT last forever (not if miniShop wants to live anyway).
So join us for style & beauty chat, and other inspiration as we navigate our way as stylishly as possible through lockdown 3.

I’m one of the lurkers, briefly delurking (I can’t afford Gucci, so no, that wasn’t me Smile). I just want to thank @Stokey for the Pyrus link. Not a brand I’d heard of before. My shirt arrived today and it’s really lovely, so thanks.

SummaLuvin · 25/05/2021 13:57

@Stokey I remember hearing a theory that to measure boobs accurately you should get on all fours and dunk them in a container of water to see the volume on water they displace (I think you would do one at a time but not sure). I can see the logic and actually think it would work pretty well, but can understand why it's not a popular method!

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 25/05/2021 15:11

My Osprey bags arrived today. Unfortunately I don't like either so they're going back. Think I will chose a cream leather one from Mango instead. It's way more 'me'.

I also had some new braided mules arrive. I'm undecided on them. They're teal (see pics) would have preferred the tan but they're sold out. I have some long shirt dresses that go right down to the floor on me very similar to the ones below. One had long sleeves though. They both have teal in them and are busier patterns, so thought I could wear the mules with the dresses, but I'm not sure if the braiding is a bit too busy and thick to be just peaking out from under the bottom of the dress. Not sure what else I would wear them with 🤷🏼‍♀️

Any thoughts?

@WineGetsMeThroughIt, the mules are lovely, but I know what you mean about too much going on with the texture so close to the print of the fabric.

SummaLuvin · 25/05/2021 16:11

I don't think the braiding on the mules is too much, layering of textures can elevate outfits and make them more interesting. I think here the braiding makes the shoe look more ~fancy~ without that I think they could appear really casual depending on the quality of material.

I would also pair them with jeans and a nice top, or even a t shirt for a "I'm don't want to look like I tried too hard, but I want to make an effort and look nice sort of look" - brunch with the girls type of thing.

Karcheer · 25/05/2021 16:19

I like the mules but if you wanted Tan without the braiding, there are these but they are a bit plain in comparison...

Karcheer · 25/05/2021 16:20

Asos have these but I've no idea what the quality is like.

Stokey · 25/05/2021 16:52

@AprilLady that makes me happy, they're a lovely small brand who make really nice quality clothes at a decent price point. Which one did you get? Also do stick around.

The mules are a BV rip off aren't they? Not really my style but I think they'd look good with trousers or jeans like @Summaluvin said. I really like the second dress you linked!

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 25/05/2021 16:54

Ooh I like those ones! I love the idea of wearing them with jeans casually, but not sure about the colour. It's so bright. I like those tan ones they're very similar. I've also ordered these. I have now bought (6, maybe 7?) pairs of shoes in the past 3 months. All open toe / sandals. I need to stop 🙃

I do not need either of those. But I love the first pair. Problem is, although I love the high heel and will find them relatively comfortable, I will struggle to walk to longer distances in them

@SummaLuvin you are so right that layering of textures creates interest. I struggle to not be ‘matchy-matchy’ - I could never wear clashing patterns, but I love it on others.

For me, I think as I am short (and I’m another one in the small chest/large nork club) I am always self-conscious if my outfit is too busy.

FairyApple · 25/05/2021 17:57

I’ve been loving this dress for the office lately.

I’ve also put on some weight - too many post lockdown dinners and drinks and it’s hiding my extra kilos - I’ve had a few compliments. My faithful J Crew wool pencil skirts are all a bit snug at the moment.

I saw someone wearing this cardi and the matching bralet last week (cardi buttoned up and tucked into high waist, slim leg trousers). And these shoes and a small BV black bag. It wouldn’t suit me, but she looked so classic and fresh. I’m yearning for a touch of lavender.

DryWhiteagainW · 25/05/2021 18:14

Summat Im just digging out the washing up bowl to dunk my boobs before DH gets home Grin ....

SummaLuvin · 25/05/2021 18:21

@FairyApple that dress is supper pretty, such an elegant shape and neckline.

I actually ordered this cami & cardi set from stories yesterday! Hopefully I can pull off the look as well as that girl you saw. That shade of lavender is super pretty though, I wish stories did this set in more colours, only other option was a bright minty green which doesn't suit me www.stories.com/en_gbp/clothing/tops/tanktops-camisoles/product.cropped-fitted-knit-top-blue.0964355001.html

Stokey · 25/05/2021 18:21

@SummaLuvin @DryWhiteagainW proper LOL at the boob dunking!

Stokey · 25/05/2021 18:23

I'm finding &OS very pastel this year. It's really not doing it for me.

SummaLuvin · 25/05/2021 18:24

@DryWhiteagainW I think the bright colour is really pretty, but if you are unsure and think you will struggle to pair it with your wardrobe then my advice is to wait for a pair in your usual palette. When I'm not 100% certain and buy anyway my instincts are right and I rarely wear the item.

Karcheer · 25/05/2021 19:02

Pastels are everywhere and really not good for an Autumn.
WineGetsMeThroughIt · 25/05/2021 20:38

@SummaLuvin I love that cardi set! Luckily both those colours suit me. I think I'd do the green if i were to get it, but the top will be much too cropped for me I'm sure.

I tried the teal mules on with a few other things and I think I can make them work with a few outfits so I'm going to keep them. Grin

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 25/05/2021 23:04

ohhhhh new people! HELLO!!

Im one i am the alternative aspect of the vogue thread, all black, shorts with tights and dr martens! You cant find a lovelier bunch than the vogue ladies Smile

No fashion news, im slowly losing weight, and i mean very very slowly so im holding off buy9gn anything until ive dropped at least one full dress size, im between sizes right now so i dont want to buy too early and be disheartened if things dont fit straight away and i dont want to buy too big and it be a waste either

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 26/05/2021 11:19

Hi One, long time no see! :)

OOTD is this pink jumper dress from Zara with these pinkish Adidas and chunky gold necklace and hoops. Very comfy! (I'm at work but we are still allowed to dress down due to Covid, yay)

What's everyone else wearing? It looks like the weather is getting much better from today!

QueenCremant · 26/05/2021 11:30

Hey one, good to see you. How’s things? Are you still up north? How old is DS now?

Sorry not sorry for making tortoise buy the sezane dress Grin
Loving the lavender links, it’s such a nice colour but difficult to pull off unless it really suits you.
On my lunch break yesterday I may have browsed JL and order 3 mango tops. I can’t link from JL website as it always seems to link my name/email so I’ll try and find the links on the mango site.

TortoiseShed · 26/05/2021 11:49

My Sezane dress arrives today and I'm unreasonably excited Queen!! Glad you MADE me do that Wink

Re what I'm wearing; black lace up, ankle boots, (ancient), black tights, sage green, tiered mini skirt (recent purchase from ASOS), black sweatshirt (ancient) and a pendant which I got this week in Oliver Bonas.

Karcheer · 26/05/2021 13:02

Ootd is a bright orange t shirt from kettlewell and dark blue RI skinnies. I’m meeting a friend for lunch soon so will add a blazer (probably navy blue Ralph Lauren jersey one) and some ballet pumps possibly my Chanels but I think it might rain... so maybe not them.

QueenCremant · 26/05/2021 13:55

Hope you love it tortoise.

Is anyone still wearing makeup? I rarely wear it anymore as have to wear a mask at work. Determined to wear some this weekend when away though. Just tried my lipsticks on and some look awful!! The bright pink that was always my favourite totally clashes now. The one that looks best is a coral one.

QueenCremant · 26/05/2021 13:57

I’m not even going to bother linking the mango tops. They were AWFUL. Such weird boxy shape
