SO the last 'edition' took over a year to complete. Must try harder Voguettes. Despite the fact that we are still in lockdown, and rarely out of loungewear, there is still inspiration to be found. Spring is springing, brighter days are on the horizon and homeschooling CANNOT last forever (not if miniShop wants to live anyway).
So join us for style & beauty chat, and other inspiration as we navigate our way as stylishly as possible through lockdown 3.

For those who don't know me... I'm late 40s, one DD, work full time. 5ft 6, size 12/14 pear shaped but rapidly morphing into a middle aged barrel effect with what peri menopause / HRT is doing to the middle of my body.

I'm autumn colouring and like blair a 'romantic classic* style which does suit me but I've concluded I'm a bit too lazy/busy/poor (whatever!) for the level of maintenance that image requires.

I live mostly in midi length, shirt style dresses with ankle boots or loafers or brogues for work and jeans with jumper or t-shirt and long cardigan at the weekend with veja hi tops. I love a good coat, a nice bag, cashmere and silk scarves, floral and animal prints, gold hoop earrings and hats (berets, fedora, beanies etc).

And I live in NZ so am permanently out of season Grin

Themarvellousmrsm · 22/05/2021 08:40

Hi Blair, I'm fine thanks, how are you? Was just trying to work out how old your ds is now?

Shop hope your dm is ok, can imagine the memories it brought up - hugs . I'm rather drawn to the WTF fund jumper!

Caroline fabulous rings - look forward to trying on at the next MU Grin

Queen really miss your sunday am links and cannot imagine you not wearing navy!

Lots of fabulous links over the last few days - too many to mention but I particularly loved the &OS orange dress @SummaLuvin linked, the Monki shirt dress (i'd have blue) linked by @TortoiseShed.

In the stripes section, the montrose navy stripe - Stokey did you actually buy this? Really like it and can definitely picture you wearing it, and the Cos t - @limesoda linked.

Morning all. Just saw this from Rockins and now I want leather skinny flares.

@Themarvellousmrsm yes I did - wore it yesterday over tights and heat-tech tee & got lots of compliments on the school run! It does come up quite big but is nice material, thicker than it looks. I got the 8 and it was probably more midaxi than midi I'd say, down to just above my ankles, and I think I'm slightly taller than you?

Love that Rockin look Shop & the Fund jumpers. I love Hades ones too, I've been lusting after this cardie for ages but don't think I can justify the cost. Also love their "The Cure" one.

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 22/05/2021 09:21

[quote RayonSunrise]Come to think of it, this Urban Outfitters one isn't TOO dissimilar for a third of the price - I'd love to compare the denim & cut.

Loving everyone's links so far, but yours stood out @RayonSunrise I like that UO jumpsuit and the Stories one.

Have you heard of Rock The Jumpsuit? I have seen some influencers wearing ones from them and that Urban Outfitters one reminded me of one of theirs here rockthejumpsuit.com/collections/new-in

I've always been afraid of jumpsuits after being scarred for life after a friends 40th where a guest wore one that looked great from the front but made her bum look like it was about 2ft long and saggy. Wasn't flattering. I've always been afraid of them since, even though I've seen some others that looked great on people.

Also love a bit of Urban Outfitters. I know it's a teenager shop, but I've found some great things in there recently. Was pleasantly surprised!

I am soooo tempted by this Gucci dress that @MissKittyKitty accidentally linked. I am only hesitating because of practicalities- sizing, keeping it from not getting grubby on public transport and the fact I would probably only wear it about 10 times max this year! But so tempted!

shopafrolic · 22/05/2021 09:26

@Stokey I know what you mean about justifying the cost of knitwear. After my cashmere loungewear from M&S got eaten by moths after only 2 or 3 wears I am v wary
@WineGetsMeThroughIt Rock the jumpsuit are great. The Urban Outfitters link is v similar looking to their Anita one.

Ooh I love it!! It's a pretty classic and timeless design though @CarolineBingley Would you wear it in years to come?
shopafrolic · 22/05/2021 09:36

You have no pets @CarolineBingley and the children are past the age of sticky fingers, and I can totally see you in it.......

@WineGetsMeThroughIt it’s beautifully classic isn’t it? It’s so me! So yes i would wear it in years to come but here is the problem... I have lockdown plans which means my usual size (36) would be too tight. I am happy to get the 38 but not if I am going to lose the lockdown pounds and fit properly! First world dilemmasGrin

CarolineBingley · 22/05/2021 09:51

@shopafrolic I know you don’t like cats but....!😂

I want to get it for the office but what about it getting grimy on the train?!!

Haha yes first world problems indeed. But I have used the gorgeous dresses in my wardrobe as an incentive to lose weight. Both from my second child which I did, and lockdown weight. Only a few pounds to go now.

Lol #decisions

Wow End of an era
I used to love the buzz walking into TopShop Oxford St, had a brilliant personal shopping experience there back in the day.

OP posts:
SummaLuvin · 22/05/2021 12:40

at risk of sounding like a misery guts I hate the huge stores, it's too much and I find it overwhelming, so I just turned around and would give up. Though I guess that's where a great personal shopper can be incredible though, they have so much stock to work with.

End of an era for sure, I remember the Kate Moss collections, and when they came out with make-up, for a while everything topshop touched was golden.

TortoiseShed · 22/05/2021 12:46

Yes, I remember buying one of the Kate Moss, Topshop dresses in the Prince's Street store in Edinburgh. About 12 years ago! It was a great dress. Why did I get rid of it?? #kondoregret

SummaLuvin · 22/05/2021 12:57

I used to have a Look magazine subscription and they ran a 'celebs wearing high street' section, it was mostly Topshop. Though now I am not a naive 14 year old I wonder if that level of coverage was paid for to some extent.

I remember their USA flag denim shorts, I thought they were the coolest thing imaginable. I actually still have and wear a flippy floral summer dress from Topshop, I got it when I was 15, I think it was £45 which was a huge purchase to me then, but it's lasted so nicely, their stuff used to be well constructed.

nevertrustaherdofcows · 22/05/2021 15:10

My addiction to cloggy shoes and the 70s generally is not abating. Ordered these ..

Off out for my afternoon date night. Since it will be part outside and part indoors I’m wearing Markus Lupfer lips jumper, Joseph leather skinnies, Grenson boots and Longchamp shoulder bag
No red lip because of bloody masks so thought I’d wear one instead Grin

Home to live stream Glastonbury later...... have lovey evenings all x

SummaLuvin · 22/05/2021 15:44

@nevertrustaherdofcows those clogs are 😍 very jealous that my feet just won’t get on with sling backs. I can’t walk more than 4 step without them slipping off my heel. I am also loving the 70s trends.

Batshittery · 22/05/2021 17:30

Hello everyone. Can I join you? I meant to post the other night but I was on my way to bed. I'm about to get ready to go out for the evening, but I wanted to jump in before I change my mind, so I'll return tomorrow and introduce myself properly if that's ok Smile

Stokey · 22/05/2021 17:51

@nevertrustaherdofcows love love love the Marni clogs.

Hi @Batshittery, let us know what you're wearing.

I know it's desperately uncool but I'm going for the glitz of Eurovision tonight rather than Glasto @shopafrolic. The DDs love it (my excuse). Outfit sounds perfect.

SummaLuvin · 22/05/2021 18:24

@Stokeynot uncool at all, I'm going out this evening, and am super excited, but when I realised earlier this week I would miss most of Eurovision I died a bit inside
