SO the last 'edition' took over a year to complete. Must try harder Voguettes. Despite the fact that we are still in lockdown, and rarely out of loungewear, there is still inspiration to be found. Spring is springing, brighter days are on the horizon and homeschooling CANNOT last forever (not if miniShop wants to live anyway).
So join us for style & beauty chat, and other inspiration as we navigate our way as stylishly as possible through lockdown 3.

Hi @limesoda. Love that dress particularly the colour.

Shop Balmain jumpsuit for QueenC's wedding?

I quite like this DVF for THE wedding or if you fancy a beach one, maybe a Missoni kaftan!

I think I'm a bit less classic & tailored than most Of the other Voguettes. I'm a bit boho/hippy with a dash of rocker, I do like a midi dress but not too floral or frilly. I'm mid 40s hourglass with dark hair, also a winter - favourite colours are greens, red, cobalt & black. I like things that are slightly odd or quirky, quite fond of a jungle print.

shopafrolic · 21/05/2021 13:22

It’s all good @BlairWaldorfLovesShopping - thread is flying again Smile
I might have to start taking notes with all these lovely Newbies
Welcome @limesoda IVF how exciting. Definitely don’t make any big purchases right now.
I love the Erborian CC cream, it’s always been my go to and I’ve recommended it to lots of Voguettes. I’ve got the BB to try next - happy to hear it’s good.
**@WineGetsMeThroughIt* welcome! This is so lovely having new people to chat to. Have you seen that Gossip Girl is coming back - quite excited about that. Meant to tell @BlairWaldorfLovesShopping*
@QueenCremant GET MARRIED AGAIN - imagine a MNV wedding - most stylish guest list (cos obvs we'd all be invited right?)
OMG yes!!! I cannot wait. The cast look a bit edgier this time around though. Hope I like it!

I'm currently binge watching The Bold Type on Netflix. It's kind of got Gossip Girl meets Sex in the City vibes. Have you seen it?

Just posted this on another thread. Decided I am going on a crash diet and wearing this to hypothetical events in the future*.

*Diet may also be hypothetical

CarolineBingley · 21/05/2021 13:39

I am not well today so in bed and these links are a treat!

I love the various self portrait dresses that @SummaLuvin posted, especially the white one. The balmain jumpsuit that @Stokey posted is to die for!

@BlairWaldorfLovesShopping love the ring you got plus the inspiration. The amethyst one is fab.
I am thinking of getting this Boodles ring when I finally make it old Bond Street. I have worn my Pomalletto rings a fair bit during lockdown and wish I had got the garnet nudo ring when I got the others so I will probably get this too.

QueenCremant · 21/05/2021 14:38

Can definitely see shop in that Balmain.
Love the Claudie Pierlot dress someone linked. Sorry, my brain is like a sieve and I can’t remember who posts what!

I’m away this weekend with kids and my parents. Was hoping for walks and playing on the beach Hmm. This rain is really getting me down now Sad

MissKittyKitty · 21/05/2021 14:40

@CarolineBingley hope you feel better soon and wow I love the ring.

I am loving all these fabulous links; it's great to see the thread being injected with new blood - meant in the nicest way possible. Big hello to those who I haven't said hello to.

I'm early 50s, peri ie fatter, short with teen dc. I have to admit I've lost my style mojo recently and have been living in SB legging and a Canada Goose coat.

I like Sofia Coppola's style and I tend to wear plain colours, with some leopard and camouflage thrown in. However I am looking to jazz up my tops and wear a lot more colour and print on top.

Here are a few of my recent purchases:

bargainous jacket but I don't like the visible drawstring, I wish it was inside the jacket

green sweatshirt and one in ivory too

camo tee also bought the vest version

Baukjen blouse which will arrive in June - just in time for winter!!

Pièce de resistance Gucci bag but not this colour I don't want to say which colour as I wear it all the time

shopafrolic · 21/05/2021 14:48

@Stokey we must have cross posted and I missed the Balmain - love it
@MissKittyKitty hi! Baujken link just took me to a home page no specific product - lovely bag. I’m envious.
I’m on the 2nd episode of Call My Agent - I LOVE listening to people speak French - so far Andrea is my favourite, her blazer in ep2 with the silver buttons is perfect.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 21/05/2021 14:56

Oh my goodness @MissKittyKitty I can't believe your DC are teens now! Where does the time go?! Love the bag and can't help wondering which colour you got.

@CarolineBingley what a gorgeous ring! Hope you feel better soon. I think everyone's immune system has taken a battering with us all hiding away during Covid.

@TortoiseShed really lovely dress, I've never really looked at BA&SH before :) will do now!

RayonSunrise · 21/05/2021 14:58

Hello all! I've been happily following links and reading everyone's introductions for a good 20 mins now, and I can see I'm going to need to start taking notes. Thanks for the very warm welcome! 😂

I've also been loving the white Self Portrait guipure lace mini dress that summa posted, and the green DVF wrap dress with the panthers from stokey.

Seasonal colours are one of my favourite topics. I'm a winter, but like many others am finding my colouring is shifting a bit now that I'm in my late 40s so I'm starting to learn towards some of the bright spring/winter crossover colours. They can be difficult to find at this time of year (soft summery blues, warm pinks and greens, and ecru seem to be everywhere) but I was in John Lewis earlier today and this colours in this Hobbs skirt really jumped out at me:

www.hobbs.com/product/diane-floral-midi-skirt/0121-7177-9021L00-RED-AZURE-BLUE.html#cgid=clothing-skirts&is=false&sz=60&start=0&isSecondPage=false&pid=0121-7177-9021L00-RED-AZURE-BLUE&pos=9

...not especially taken with the length, though. It feels just not quite midi enough, somehow. Maybe I'm longing for it to be a maxi skirt? Anyway, it's a great print. I think I just want everything to have a certain amount of drama.

While I was in JL I actually tried things on, which was both exciting and sombering. I've been toying with the idea of a jumpsuit while WFH, though I know all-in-ones can be a challenge for hourglasses. There were 3 max items in the changing rooms, so I grabbed what I could find in a 12:

www.johnlewis.com/mint-velvet-ruffle-strap-jumpsuit-black/p5548386

www.johnlewis.com/whistles-denim-cropped-utility-jumpsuit-black/p5465777

www.johnlewis.com/sweaty-betty-gary-jumpsuit/black/p5455711

It was... interesting. I should admit that though I'm tall, broad shouldered and fairly bosomy naturally, I'm also a BRCA gene carrier so my boobs were reconstructed a couple of years ago. I was a 14 then, so they were probably more of a like-for-like swap when they were first done but now that I'm slowly battling my way back down to a 10/12 they are conspicuously not shrinking with the rest of me!* The Whistles jumpsuit was definitely the most "me," but it was a washout from the shoulders to underbust. I would have had to have worn it open to the waist with a vest beneath to have any hope of being decent in public. Separates it is then...

*I came home and moaned to DH, who looked confused and told me he didn't see a problem. Typical...🙄

MissKittyKitty · 21/05/2021 15:11

@RayonSunrise I loved all 3 jumpsuits you linked but they are not always the easiest thing to wear.

this is the Baukjen blouse

@BlairWaldorfLovesShopping I'll bring it to the next MU.

nelsonscolumn · 21/05/2021 15:59

Wanders into thread .....On the back of this thread I may have bought a gorgeous All Saints leather jacket that I have been lusting after for ages today...... wanders of again.

shopafrolic · 21/05/2021 16:06

@nelsonscolumn don’t be blaming us Grin
@RayonSunrise I have this Whistles jumpsuit for casual - looks awful on the mode but v flattering. Perhaps too utility for you? I am a UK12 (well I was 2 months ago before I started HRT) with a 32E / 34DD bust.

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 21/05/2021 16:07

@MissKittyKitty that link took me to a Gucci dress on NaP - maybe it’s my phone?

OP posts:
BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 21/05/2021 16:24

@nelsonscolumn you can't leave us without a link! :)

On the subject of casual jumpsuits, I have a khaki denim one from Mango which always gets compliments. They are just such a pain when going to the loo!

limesoda · 21/05/2021 16:31

Oh I cannot do a jumpsuit because of the loo issue. They look so good on other people though. I love the idea of utilitarian dark denim all rolled up, but I'm just too lazy.

Ba&Sh are one of my discoveries of the year, and it broke my heart to have to send back a dress I got in the sale. It was so beautiful, flattering etc. etc. but demanded bare legs and I live in Northern Ireland so that doesn't happen nearly enough for the price point. Boo and indeed hiss.

@CarolineBingley that Boodles ring is STUNNING.

Karcheer · 21/05/2021 16:35

@CarolineBingley i have the Blossom necklace and bracelet, love that range.

MissKittyKitty · 21/05/2021 17:00

@shopafrolic that was a link to the dress I'd wear to @QueenCremant's wedding. Hope she doesn't mind the ivory colour. Grin

onalittledishy · 21/05/2021 17:07

I'm new, can I join too?? In fact I'm completely new - I just joined MN yesterday so I can post on S&B, it's about time I took control of wardrobe/hair etc...
Loving the sound of your rebranded thread, hi everyone Smile

RayonSunrise · 21/05/2021 17:09

Ah, sorry MissKitty, I'd matched the wrong dress to guest. Grin

[Shop], thanks for linking to that jumpsuit - I am intrigued. You're right, I would have passed that over looking at the model pic as I'd have had that down as one of this season's "unwaisted" styles. Sounds like we're a similarish bust size (give or take the immovability of mine) so I'd certainly be curious to give it a go.

I confess that my interest in jumpsuits was initially piqued by this lovely Dona Ida thing:
www.donnaida.com/collections/denim/products/cassandra-jumpsuit-blackest

To be honest, many of the jumpsuits on the DA website are pretty delicious. Part of me is looking at jumpsuits elsewhere to a) prove to myself it's entirely possible to get something just as desirable without dropping £300, and b) check that I can actually fit an all-in-one at all.

RayonSunrise · 21/05/2021 17:14

Come to think of it, this Urban Outfitters one isn't TOO dissimilar for a third of the price - I'd love to compare the denim & cut.
