SO the last 'edition' took over a year to complete. Must try harder Voguettes. Despite the fact that we are still in lockdown, and rarely out of loungewear, there is still inspiration to be found. Spring is springing, brighter days are on the horizon and homeschooling CANNOT last forever (not if miniShop wants to live anyway).
So join us for style & beauty chat, and other inspiration as we navigate our way as stylishly as possible through lockdown 3.

Shop it's on Netflix - French, so cool & hilarious. You'd love it!

Stokey · 20/05/2021 21:35

@TortoiseShed they're the kind of thing I want to be drifting around in if the summer ever arrives - but back to the drawing board to find some that don't show my knickers!

shopafrolic · 20/05/2021 21:38

I’ll check it out - thanks

QueenCremant · 20/05/2021 21:45

@shopafrolic snd @Stokey, funny you both see me as a summer. I always thought that’s what I would be. When I was diagnosed it was a toss up between winter and spring, hence being a sprinter. blair is a blue spring so again between a spring and winter but the warm version to my cool. I’m looking forward to just being draped and getting some more colour ideas. I don’t particularly want to be boxed in a season but even I am am getting bored of navy Grin.

Welcome to all the newbies-I haven’t had chance to read properly and look at links but I will.
Just a quick bit about me-I’m late 40s, medium height/build, blonde hair slowly getting darker with menopause (as well as fatter). In style terms, I’m an ingenue natural, so I’m all about comfort and practicality but love a bit of girliness. I also love quirky accessories although don’t have the confidence to pull them off. I’ve been slowly getting into dresses which I love wearing. They have to have a waist though-can’t do buffet/sack dresses sadly, however much I love them.
I tend to mainly get stuff from John Lewis as I have a Waitrose near me so easy to order/return. Love brands like sezane, suncoo, des petite hauts, velvet by graham and Spencer but my wallet doesn’t! I’m most likely to be found in cropped jeans and a navy blouse (or legging or pjs Blush).

DryWhiteagainW · 20/05/2021 21:48

I loved Call My Agent!!! Totally brilliant!

Hello to everyone. Took me ages to find the thread. Hello and welcome to the new joiners. Shop has summed the thread up so well and it’s made me all nostalgic.

I love the AOS orange dress, love that high neck. My shoulders aren’t as toned as they used to be though....must get back to the gym.

QueenC what will you do if they say you can’t wear navy? Grin

I wore a dress with exaggerated puff sleeves today at work for the first time. Kept pattinG them down but felt ok and had some positive comments.

I’ve got a few dates in the diary and will be totally over dressing!!!!

nelsonscolumn · 20/05/2021 21:51

Hi All. Another long term lurker who has been tempted out. I'm a rather older thing at 55 but I love clothes, fashion, skin care and make up and at last have the disposable income to enjoy it. Just wanted to pop in and say hello and will post more tomorrow. Just have to say that Shops style crushes are exactly mine. My daughter describes my style as "aging rock chick"!

shopafrolic · 20/05/2021 21:55

@nelsonscolumn welcome and do stay - we’re allowed to be stylish no matter our age. I’ll be v happy to be an ageing rocker which is weird considering my love of clubbing and house music Smile
Blimey if @QueenCremant can’t wear navy anymore that will be as bad as when I was wrongly diagnosed as an Autumn, spent £££ on new clothes only to find out they’d got it wrong. A very expensive mistake!

OP posts:
QueenCremant · 20/05/2021 21:59

Nah, navy is definitely a colour that I know suits me!!

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 20/05/2021 22:02

Hi all, hoping I can join in too after reading the recap post. You seem like a lovely lot.

A bit about me. 40yrs, 5'4, summer colouring and very pale. Hourglass figure, size 10, quite petite. Chunky and boxy things swamp me. I would describe my style as a combination of classic, preppy and romantic. I wear a lot of pastels and neutral shades. Very rarely wear black, and never primary colours like red, royal blue, grass green etc.

Styles I wear a lot of are shirt dresses, long slim lines, floaty styles, structured blazers, high heels and wedges - used to be daily, but have swapped to flats like white trainers for daily wear since no longer going into the office. It took me a while to come around to the 90's style again, but I'm loving a lot of it at the moment, but also blending it with pieces to give more of a '70's vibe. Enjoy a puffed sleeve, but not overly so, soft florals, and classic timeless styles.

Cant think of many style icons off the top of my head, but Blair Waldorf definitely comes to mind.

Budget is more Zara, with a bit of independent boutique pricing thrown in. Would love some Zimmerman pieces, also love the style of Sezanne, Maje, Ba&sh, but not purchased anything from them, and some of the Dutch brands out at the moment which I have purchased from.

I'm a shopaholic and own at least 90-100 dresses, with 10-15 being purchased in the last year and have not yet been worn due to covid. Looks for any chance I can get to wear them! Have way too many shoes, but none super expensive and love to accessorise.

Prefer shopping in person rather than online! Will try and link some recent purchases later.

QueenCremant · 21/05/2021 06:19

Loving all the links. Can’t remember who has linked what but I love that orange other stories dress. Not keen on the needle and thread dress linked but I love their stuff. If I were ever to get married again I’d consider a needle and thread dress Grin

TortoiseShed · 21/05/2021 08:01

I also would love to wear a needle and thread dress to get married in. I'm already married though, and DH said he won't divorce me just so we can have another wedding Hmm

QueenCremant · 21/05/2021 08:24

tortoise you should definitely LTB Grin

TortoiseShed · 21/05/2021 08:28

Thanks queen! I feel validated at last Wink

shopafrolic · 21/05/2021 08:30

@WineGetsMeThroughIt welcome! This is so lovely having new people to chat to. Have you seen that Gossip Girl is coming back - quite excited about that. Meant to tell @BlairWaldorfLovesShopping
@QueenCremant GET MARRIED AGAIN - imagine a MNV wedding - most stylish guest list (cos obvs we'd all be invited right?)

TortoiseShed · 21/05/2021 09:44

I love this for hypothetical wedding.

If you do have a wedding and invite the entire thread, queen, you wouldn't mind if I wore this would you Grin?

As a hypothetical wedding guest with hypothetical bags of money I would splurge on Self Portrait. Maybe one of these.

Ha ha, my bf would run a mile if he knew we were all planning wedding outfits Grin. Sadly, he’s adamant that he’ll never get married again. I’ve said I’d be happy with a sparkly ring, a nice dress and a party Grin

libertyonhertravels · 21/05/2021 10:14

Will catch up properly and look at links sometime tomorrow but it's just so great to see the thread in action again.

Welcome newbies, delurkers and old friends alike Smile

Am Grin at plans for a QueenC wedding.

TortoiseShed · 21/05/2021 10:15

Love both the net-a-porter ones you just posted summa.

CarolineBingley · 21/05/2021 10:59

Hello! I haven’t been here for ages and there are lots of new people.Smile welcome to the newbies/delurkers, how exciting to have new people and links.

For newbies/people who have forgotten that I name changed. I have been around a looong time. I am vertically challenged/petite but with an hour glass figure. Minus make up and in a hoodie and jeans, I look about 16. This would be great except my job involves about 500 people reporting to me and it’s pretty hard to take a 16 year old boss seriously!

I love clothes but don’t see myself as “fashionable” or “trendy” as I have a classic style. My wardrobe is a mix of designer and high street. I love accessoriesGrin.

I would love a Mnv weddingWink! I would dress up a storm for you QueenC!!

VivaVegas · 21/05/2021 11:22

So nice to see the thread coming alive again, welcome to all the new posters!

I was a latish joiner a few years ago.
I'm just over 50 🙄 5ft 4 and petite.

I've had my colours done, can't removed what I was categorised in but I'm more suited to black, grey white and brights. Pastels and mustards etc make me look ill!

I seem to live in jeans and converse high tops or trainers at the moment having spent the best part of 4 months in jeans and biker boots! I cannot wait to go out next week to dinner inside wearing something nice instead of freezing my bits off in a garden!

Full time worker, normally part office part home but home for over a year. Again looking forward to getting back to the office soon for some normality and to become less of a slob!

More high street than designer for me. Like Mint Velvet (and they are embracing red currently which is good) Jigsaw, Whistles and Stories. Also Zara and H &M. Not averse to buying the odd teen size item if it fits, seem to find some good ones in Next!

Would seriously like it to stop raining and warm up, foolishly booked a pedicure for next week thinking it might be sandal weather soon!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 21/05/2021 11:22

Hello! Seeing this thread moving so fast all of a sudden has given me serious FOMO Grin

@QueenCremant yes I've seen GG is coming back! It's going to be weird with a new cast. Can't wait to see the outfits though. That's so interesting about your colours. I've heard they can change with time so maybe you aren't a sprinter anymore? Looking forward to hearing how you get on with the new draping!
(And yes please to a MNV "wedding"!!)

Welcome to all the new posters :) @RayonSunrise @SummaLuvin @StripesandSpaniels @TortoiseShed @Ellewoods20 @nelsonscolumn @WineGetsMeThroughIt - hope i didn't miss anyone.

About me - I'm 34, 1 DC, work full time. As @queenCremant said I'm analysed as a House of Colour Blue Spring (spring on the cusp of winter) and I also had a style personality done which came out as Romantic Classic, which I don't set much store by now. I'm a short legged hourglass and I suit fitted clothes, so I've not really been buying much these past 2 years, even without Covid.

The only thing I've bought lately is this ring which I was chuffed to find as I love the Piaget cocktail rings (which blingy probably has Grin).

shopafrolic · 21/05/2021 11:52

@VivaVegas I think it was me having a pedicure in mid April that jinxed the weather in the first place so I say go for it.
DH and I are going on a date tomorrow - miniShop is at a party midday - 7pm so we are going out to eat at 16.45 - are we nuts? I feel as though it might work as I can drink too much and then have an early night Grin
Not much room for dressing up though......might look a bit odd.
I started Googling wedding attire but I always find it difficult as I hate wearing dresses and skirts - will have a think.
@BlairWaldorfLovesShopping it was me who mentioned about GG - I can’t wait - the pics from the steps with the new characters look ace.
What’s everyone else up to this weekend?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 21/05/2021 12:30

Oh sorry @shopafrolic! Failed at the first hurdle of rebooting the thread - keeping track of who said what! Blush

I love eating late afternoon, as then you only need 2 meals in the day which is just easier. Enjoy!

I've got my mum coming to stay over, it's going to be so weird having someone else sleeping in my house.

limesoda · 21/05/2021 12:33

I am SO EXCITED about the newbies welcomes on this thread, I delurking to join in at last. I thought about it when this most recent thread started and then got scared.

I'm 37, and lost my way a bit with fashion after I did Marie Kondo and had nothing left. I started my own business and I wasn't really sure what I 'should' be wearing IYSWIM? Towards the end of last year I spent ages thinking about what actually works for me and my lifestyle and the result is that sort of notional idea we have about a French girl: classic, good tailoring, that sort of thing. I've started to take care of my skin and hair properly, am a bit of a slave to dermalogica's ultracalming line abd my favourite discovery of the last year has been the erborian BB cream.

I'm winter in terms of colour, lots of black and navy and white round here. I bleach my hair an icy cool blonde and cannot WAIT to get to the top of my v popular hairdresser's waiting list to get that fringe I've been fantasising about for years cut in.

My wardrobe is very, very empty at the minute. I'm a couple of months away from starting IVF and I don't know if the pounds I've shed are gone forever, whether it is worth keeping the jeans which are now two sizes too big in case it does actually work by some miracle, so I'm spending my money quite carefully and wisely. Recent purchases:

Hobbs trench

Claudie Pierlot via the Outnet

This Cos tee but with navy stripes instead of orange

I LOVE the M&S blazer @TortoiseShed posted and it might be making its way into my basket next month.
