I emailed my mum today because of this thread (we really do have very little contact, I haven’t seen her in person in a few years) and is I feel SO anxious waiting for her to reply. Even by email and text she has the power to make me feel shit, but of course I feel very guilty about not seeing her, which is also shit.

That really wasn't my intention.
I find everything to do with my extended family really stressful and unpleasant and if I'm honest I have done for a few years.
I've had 26 years of PA shit from mil and I'm 50 next year. That's half my life!
Mum and I are getting on better than we have in a long time but that's because I'm letting A LOT of stuff go.
I just don't react to her like I used to. She is also the most content she has been since my dad died.
I'm off to the cemetery later to see him.
Dh is going up to his parents house to see fil so it'll ALL kick off 😬

I'm sorry lots of you are having a hard time. I avoid all of my in-laws as they all mainly live on other continents. Most are toxic, bullying and fucked up.
My family are normally abnormal if you know what I mean and I hope my kids don't inherit the overseas genes 🙏.

On a happier note my new Ffern has arrived. And I've just messaged them to cancel my subscription. As I now have 4 bottles to use up. In this Summer's iteration the top notes are delicious citrus with a touch of olibanum, a nutmeg heart and a hay absolute base.
I wasn't too keen on the heart at first, but either side it's gorgeous and it's now growing on me.

Is anyone doing the Perfume Society seasonal subscription?

I'm plugging away with the cheap thrills, but don't feel fully limbered back up after my break yet.

Latest bargain purchase has been Weil's Passion Essence (has anyone bought anything with a worst name this year?). It has a slightly odd wet synthetic fruity (green coffee?) note crossed with tuberose on opening and none of the listed bergamot or lemon. This really isn't promising, but it somehow works its way round to being a very satisfying oriental gourmand, with sandalwood, vanilla and an attractive musk, plus dry, dry cocoa, and a soft wood, like a gentle oud (although none listed), very occasionally peeking through. I kept coming back to this at the weekend. If you can get beyond the first 20-30 mins, it's very satisfying

Well, I'm having a bit a a rubbish day :( trying to get through to a Dr is just impossible here ATM. Referral should have been done beginning of May. No referral done. So now I'm chasing.

Perfume wise too! I decided to go for the perfume society Seasonal boxes - except they took payment 3 times 🤬 so that's that cancelled.

Then my 15ml 4160 special complicated shadows has arrived and even though I should love it on paper, I don't. Sigh.

Mil has apologised - to dh! - for her behaviour on ds1s 18th. Meh.

Horrendous week health wise. Feel like roadkill. More time spent on voluntary work than I should have really.

The person ds2 sits next to in school was sent home yesterday as a close contact of a + covid test yesterday.

I'm pretty much done today.

Noticed a couple of people have mentioned the Perfume Society seasonal boxes – does anyone have a link to what’s in the summer one? You get a link in the despatch email when you buy it but I wasn’t hugely impressed with the Spring choices so don’t want to buy blind again!

SOTD is actually L’ancome Piviones Printemps from the Spring box. One of the better ones in there and very pretty.
