Really: the very best lip balm for older lips

I have always been a bargain hunter, which has quite naturally, led me to buying cheap and buying twice on more than one occasion.

My lips are prone to drying out and at nearly 48, are starting to show their age.

I have started, in all areas of my life, to spend less often but to spend well - and so, with that in mind, can you recommend a really good lip balm for lips which need soothing and a little plumping?

TIA

I'm 44 & I like Lanolips, a tube is £10.99 from Boots.
It is really good for chapped & dry lips, lasts for months but also looks like you've used gloss.

@Tehmina23 thank you! I hope it works, given the paucity of other responses! 🤣

I love Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. It smell a trifle odd but is miraculous. Expensive, but can be used on eczema, burns, and a multitude of other things.

I've found O'Keefe's lip repair great:

I had a cold a few months ago where nothing would stop the corner of my lips from being sore and cracked, but this sorted it in a few days (I'm 43)

Lanisoh nipple cream

Phalarope · 25/01/2021 21:43

8 hr cream - the original stuff, not their lip balm. Slather on at bedtime and leave it on overnight. There’s also a Palmers cocoa butter lipsalve I keep in my coat pocket for during the day that’s very moisturising and a bit more of a barrier to the weather.

ChippyDucks150 · 25/01/2021 21:45

I use Bepanthen it is great for dry sore lips. They always look great as well as slightly plump.

TheBaroucheBox · 25/01/2021 21:46

I second Lansinoh nipple cream.

Melange99 · 25/01/2021 21:46

Nuxe, the one in the pot. Put on before bed, new lips in the morning.

In the day, Carmex - the one in the pot or the one in the stick tube with spf. (Not the squeeze tube one.)

Outwithreason · 25/01/2021 21:48

I love Clinique moisture surge lip balm. It is quite glossy though.

BangingOn · 25/01/2021 21:48

I love the Korean Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, either used as an overnight treatment or a regular balm.

sandgrown · 25/01/2021 21:50

My daughter loves Nuxe Reve de Miel

LegendDairy · 25/01/2021 21:51

Lanisoh

Letseatgrandma · 25/01/2021 21:51

EOS or O’keefes.

I did use nipple cream when my kids were young and I had it lying around but stopped as I found it hard, slimy and no better than any standard lip balm.

ShrikeAttack · 25/01/2021 21:53

By Terry, Baume de Rose, the absolute best. About £30 from SpaceNK.

justilou1 · 25/01/2021 21:53

Laneige lip sleeping mask hands down. It lasts longer and I think over time it’s had a plumping effect.

Chocolateteabag · 25/01/2021 21:54

I second @Melange99 on Nuxe in the pot

impressivelycunty · 25/01/2021 21:54

Nuxe. Every. Single.Time!

MrTrellis · 25/01/2021 21:55

I know it’s meant for teens, and is also a spot stick and general balm but this the THE best lip balm I’ve ever used.

Lily193 · 25/01/2021 21:57

Most of the recommendations on here (Laneige lip sleeping mask, Nuxe, O'Keefe's, Elizabeth Arden)don't suit my lips at all. Dr Lipp is the only product that makes a lasting difference.

LucasLeesEyebrows · 25/01/2021 21:58

DH had Smile Direct retainers a couple of years ago and they gave him a few lip balms with his order. It was honestly the best lip balm I have ever used (and I’ve been using lip balm religiously every night before bed, since I was a teenager) I think you can buy it from their website. Failing that EOS is very good.

IamEarthymama · 25/01/2021 22:12

I am blaming all of you as I have just bought a Nuxe Lip balm stick and browsing for the little pot too! 👄💄

Flipflops123 · 25/01/2021 22:15

Yes to Lanisoh!!

teuer · 25/01/2021 22:48

Another vote for Nuxe Reve de Miel (in the Glass pot.). Only thing that keeps mine soft and without flaking. I’ve tried o‘Keefes, lansinoh, Kiel’s. Burts Bees, lanolips, Carmex, blisteze and Dr. pawpaw and Bodyshop hemp balm. They were all soothing they didn’t moisturise my lips. I put the Nuxe on at night and in the morning and that seems to do the trick. For some reason the same make in the stick version was very average in comparison.

teuer · 25/01/2021 22:51

IamEarthyMama. I’ve been using the Nuxe in a pot for about 4 years after reading about it on here. Each pot lasts for ages and you can get good deals on Amazon for it sometimes. I don’t know why the stick version is nowhere near as effective but it really made no difference to my dried out prune lips.
