Can fillet in lips ever look natural?

I’ve lost a lot of volume in my lips and am considering filler. However I’ve never really seen it look natural. I guess this is because of it looks natural you wouldn’t know - and on website before and after a it’s always straight after so still looks obvious.

Anyone had experience of having lip filler where people really cant tell?

Well the people who know you will know straightaway I would imagine. Everyone else will be able to tell also.

Suzi888 · 31/12/2020 18:58

Not sure, I think half the volume the specialists suggest would work. They never want to actually do it though! 0.5ml rather than 1ml. It looks ridiculous otherwise.

bitheby · 31/12/2020 18:59

Steak or o-fish?

Swingometer · 31/12/2020 19:00

IMHO you can always tell

It never looks natural

BettyOBarley · 31/12/2020 19:02

If you look at Consultant_Clinic on Instagram their lip filler always looks very natural to me, something to do with using a cannula.

Corriefan2021 · 31/12/2020 19:03

Of course it can! People on here just don’t like it so will always say no.

Sexnotgender · 31/12/2020 19:03

I’ve never seen it look natural. You get the occasional photograph that looks ok Devon the angle but in real life it’s obvious.

mochapls · 31/12/2020 19:17

Yes it can look natural!!!!! Just don't go OTT with it and constantly get it done. I've had 0.5 of filler, my lips look juicer and filler and the only people who have noticed are those who are into beauty treatments and only after I've said.

Some people who get lip fillers, form some kind of addiction where they think it's dissolved so they get more and more then boom - trout lips! Don't get like that. Speak to your friends and listen to what they say as to whether you need more or not.

TomorrowIsAnotherDae · 31/12/2020 19:22

It can look natural, although people may still notice something different. Some plastic surgeons also do fillers and botox and don’t charge much more than less qualified practitioners. I had it done by a plastic surgeon who avoided filling around the edges of my lips and concentrated on giving me volume more centrally iyswim? It was very subtle but I was happy with it. Only a handful of people noticed.

TornadoOfSouls · 31/12/2020 19:25

From pics I have seen on here I would say that some people’s idea of what looks truly natural is a bit distorted. However I have seen some that look very good, even if not completely natural looking.

Plussizejumpsuit · 31/12/2020 19:27

Yes they can. I think we just notice the filler when it's over done.

ILoveShula · 31/12/2020 20:03

@butterybiscuitbasic, that was no typo, that was deliberate, but thanks for making a miserable old trout laugh.

Haggertyjane · 01/01/2021 10:08

A few years ago I was worried about some tiny lines around my mouth. The beautician assured me a little filler would just push the lines out. I said I don't want a trout pout under any circumstances, just the lines gone.

I couldn't look anyone in the eye for 6 months because my fish face looked so hideous.

SacreBleeeurgh · 01/01/2021 10:11

I was also coming on to suggest having a look at The Consultant Clinic Instagram too. Absolutely no vested interest, I just think they do some truly remarkable stuff. I’ve never had lip fillers and probably wouldn’t as my lips don’t bother me that much (my nose on the other hand 👀...) but love a good perusal of the before and afters on there!

MoltonSilver · 01/01/2021 10:24

Without wanting to offend anyone, I've never seen it look well (or natural) even when people post pictures saying how happy they are and how natural it looks. Each to their own.

Bloodhoundgang · 01/01/2021 10:56

My colleague got 0.3ml. I would never in a million years have said that she had any filler. She looked amazing, couldn't pinpoint what it was until she told me. Gave a subtle lift to her whole face.
Am considering botox by the same practitioner and I have never been interested in getting anything done.
Definitely can be done well but aim for a slight enhancement as opposed to changing your features is the secret.

CrotchBurn · 02/01/2021 07:54

It doesn't ever look natural. Even when its subtle you can tell. Obviously nobody is going to tell someone that though there is no polite reaction to someone telling you about their fillers other than "no frigging WAY!!!"

Franticbutterfly · 02/01/2021 08:28

I've seen someone who had 0.5ml put in to replace lost volume due to age and it looked natural.

Spaceprincess · 02/01/2021 11:29

Yes of course it can. I like mine to look done though. I know people that have 0.5 ml and once its settled down it looks natural.

WanderingHopefully · 02/01/2021 11:34

I've no idea whether it can ever look natural as I suppose if it ever does look natural, your wouldn't notice it in strangers if that makes sense? Certainly I've seen many random people in the street who look ridiculous and probably assume noone can tell they've had fillers. Please do go to a doctor if you are going to have it done. It beggars belief that the industry is so unregulated that anyone with minimal training in the subject can inject your face.

WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo · 02/01/2021 11:35

My friend had 0.5 put in..hers look natural probably because she naturally has very full lips that have lost volume due to aging.

OTOH someone who has ' spaghetti strand ' lips will never get the same look. Because the baggage isn't already there.

peaceanddove · 02/01/2021 13:57

Human being have evolved to accurately recognise even micro expressions. We are exceptionally good at gauging people's expressions and identifying even tiny differences in facial features.

So yes, you can always tell if someone has had lip filler. Even a small amount intended to look very natural. Even a small amount of filler creates an unnaturally smooth texture to the lips which is always the give away.

Soutiner · 02/01/2021 14:09

The only person who has lip filler and they look reasonably natural is Liz Hurley and when she goes for a top up they can look overdone but then calm down.

I’ve yet to see anyone on here that has had them down where it doesn’t look obvious.
