Lipstick Challenge - a different lipstick each day of Jan!

I remember a similar thread a few years ago that went down well

The idea is to use a different lipstick every day and share with the thread whether a review, photo, anything! It isn't about buying new ones necessarily but rediscovering ones you already own.

We do a NYD dinner here so will put a nice new one on for that tomorrow and report back!

I like that too! I really love lipstick and have loads, didn’t see this thread until now but I have to wear a mask all day at work so my lipstick stays hidden away.

I wear masks at work too but I still wear lipstick. I've found a few mask proof ones and I've got lipcote for some others too.

I got really low in lockdown 1 so I'm making more of an effort to look after myself to keep my spirits up. It's not the only thing I'm doing but make up, painted toe nails, shaved legs and body butter are making a big difference to my mood!

very true @RedLipsAndRosyCheeks I decided my collection is missing some mid range pinks, in between all the nudes & fluorescent pinks so I am now the proud owner of Inspirer & Seek Adventure (matte ink crayon). Wearing Inspirer today.

Hope it's ok to jump in here. Been stalking this thread for ages and love seeing all the different pics but I soooooo don't feel like I belong in style & beauty!

This matte ink you all speak of... its the Maybelline one, right? Does anyone know which UK-available shades might suit warm/neutral undertones?

Just getting to grips with both undertones and lipsticks and I cannot for the life of me work out which ones to try! I'm really, really shit at working out which lipstick is going to look half-decent when buying online! I tend to steer clear of anything pink/nude so am thinking a warm-toned red, orange/red, brown or burgundy... or just anything not too cool really. Or shall I just a chuck a couple into my Amazon basket and hope for the best?

@FreshFaceTime hello! I've got no idea if I've got warm/neutral undertones or not but I love maybelline matte ink! Ruler is a brownish pink type colour so maybe start there?
I only started wearing lipstick 2 years ago and I basically just bought a couple at random and took it from there so I say go with Amazon basket and hope for the best. The NYX ones are usually pretty cheap there too so if you get a couple of duds it's not so bad.

Got my Laura Mercier Rose Mandarine on today. Was reading Red magazine the other day and it seems lots of coral lippies in for Spring. Ok not rocket science but excited all the same!

Love the look of the prague lipstick even though it would not suit me!

@FreshFaceTime I’d second NYX lip creams. Inspired by this thread I have recently acquired Antwerp, Amsterdam and Prague. Antwerp and Amsterdam both looked quite warm to me when first applied but are more neutral when dry (though I’m not sure I really know what I’m talking about!!). I have been draped as a winter and gravitate towards pinks and red shades for lipsticks. From swatches Morocco is an orangey red shade.

Thanks @18Miaowse I don't really understand it either tbh but it made sense when I started choosing lipsticks and some just looked absolute shit that it tended to be the warmer or neutral shades that suited me most (I only know they were warm or neutral because I googled them, not because I could tell from looking!)

I think I'm more autumn than winter but "deep" , which is kind of borderline autumn/winter. This could all be total bollocks of course but I'm going with it for now 😁 Will have to check out the NYX ones and get going with the matte inks!

Hi @FreshFaceTime, I'm definitely no expert but I think cool shades have blue undertones & warm shades have yellow/orangey undertones. I find it hard to tell just looking at a picture though unfortunately.

Trying an old one today, soap and glory sexy mother pucker matte crayon in ember red. Ironically I think this might be a warm toned red as it doesn't really suit me, but unfortunately I think they are discontinued now so that doesn't really help .

See, if you had asked me I'd have said that looked cool toned. So clearly I have no idea either way! It's a lovely colour but not sure it would suit me so not hugely disappointed it's not around anymore. Feels ridiculous that I'm in my 30s and only just discovering lipstick!

@FreshFaceTime I was 34 when I first wore lipstick so you are not alone. I wish I'd not spent so many wasted years on eyeliner!

@RedLipsAndRosyCheeks ahh it's nice to know I'm not alone! I did exactly the same with the eyeliner. What's really annoying is that my eyes are fairly shit/ average at best. My lips are feckin awesome and I spent YEARS feeling self conscious of them because a girl at school called me blowjob lips when I was about 12. I was mortified and it's taken ages to learn to love them! They're one of my best features and I've accepted this now when the entire world is wearing face masks 😂

Any recs for warm long lasting mid pinks? I have five matte inks and none are right (although the formula is amazing)

@Readyorknot I got NYX Antwerp recently and initially thought it was a warm so might be worth a look?

@Lilypad78 I love that red - the name sounds warm, but I would have guessed blue toned red from the pic. It’s always hard to accurately capture shades in photos, infuriating.
