Royal Style - more tiaras please for 2021 (maybe no more crocs)

Hello - let's hope we get a bit more glamour this year and fingers crossed for some tiara watching....

Did anyone watch Secrets of the Museum on BBC4 tonight? They had very short section (far too short) on one of Queen Victoria’s tiaras. The design was magnificent, sapphires and diamonds and how it sparklers when they held it. When things are normal again I’m heading back to the V&A (without the children) for a proper look.

Not much happening in royal land at the moment.

I'm not sure if I've ever posted on these threads, so I'd have to describe myself as a lurker. But I have read every thread and post, and love the history of the various tiaras, and of course the frocks.

I do think that Kate has looked very good over the last few months. At one stage, I wondered if she was pregnant as her face seemed a bit more full. But maybe it was because her hair was mostly off her face - I do think her hair can swamp her features, so I like her updos.

I've got a question, that maybe the experts here could answer. I recall that after W&K's wedding, in the procession back from the Abbey when they were in the coach, there were times when William saluted and Kate bowed her head, presumably when passing certain monuments. But I don't recall Charles and Diana doing the same thing. Can anyone explain that, or am I just confused?

Maybe a different route? St Paul's Cathedral rather than Westminster Abbey?
I'll have to look up the monuments. Good question, though.

Maireas, I suppose it could have been about what monuments were on the journey, but I guess most military monuments would be army ones and Charles was Navy and William was RAF.

I think, Tracy, that the RAF do a flyover for most significant royal events. I wonder what it all looks like from the balcony, though.

Horsemad, that rings a bell. I've got a mental image of a camera shot as they were going through Wellington Arch.

Kate bowed her head respectfully as they passed the Cenotaph. How she remembered to do this amongst all the excitement and the cheering crowds was indicative of her decency and poise.

Wills was saluting various things and Kate instinctively bowed her head. She wasn't told to do it iirc

hotel I wonder if was because Charles was no longer in the forces when he married? Whereas I think William was, hence he was required to salute on passing certain sites.

It was when they passed The Cenotaph. William & Harry also saluted at it on the way to Westminster Abbey.

I absolutely LOVE Char's hair here! It really suits her! I didn't like her quite extreme shaved side look but this looks super chic. She looks amazing but the one thing I always think is her smile never quite reaches her eyes and she looks pained.
I'd love to know the secrets they have - I could imagine Albert has quite the ego.

I’m growing to really like Charlene’s style, even the recent haircut. She seems to be comfortable dressing for herself and just going for it. That necklace is fabulous though on me it would like misplaced Elizabethan ruff. And agree that the smile never seems to reach the eyes.
