Mine is the Philip Kingsley elasticizer.
All my friends love it but every time.i try it my hear is left like a grease slick. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong as I follow every direction. I rinse my hair more than normal when using it.

What doesn't work for you?

Pillow talk lipstick looks awful on me!

Better than sex mascara gave me constant panda eyes.

It cosmetics cc cream was terrible on my skin.

TrialOfStyle · 31/12/2020 13:50

I had a little sample of PK Elasticiser and loved it. Invested in a huge bottle and now I’m not so sure.

I think many of you may be wearing YSL wrong. It’s a highlighter, not a concealer. That said, I’ve had better.

Becca highlighter has too much fallout.

I find MAC lipsticks horrible on my lips. Really don’t get the excitement of Benefit mascaras.

Yet to find a foundation that doesn’t flake on my dry skin. Perhaps problems with all the primers I’ve tried so far.

TrialOfStyle · 31/12/2020 13:51

You’ve also all talked me out of keeping my unused Pillow Talk lipstick too. Wink

Bader’s The Rich Cream broke me out and gave me blackheads - gutted as I was excited to try it (from the Liberty advent calendar).

Le Labo Santal 33 just does not suit me; several of their other perfumes do.

Any volumising hair product whatsoever - nothing gives me volume, my hair is v straight, fine but also quite thick and even perms back in the 80s only held for about a month!

ChrissyPlummer · 31/12/2020 18:51

Dr Bronners magic soap. I remember reading about this as an amazing multi tasking product, also says on the label how many uses it has. I tried to use it as a shampoo and it just would not wash out of my hair! I was staying in London for a couple of days and ended up begging the Toni & Guy staff at Canary Wharf to help me, which they did. It may be ok as a shower gel but not anything else.

Acatnamedfox · 01/01/2021 02:57

Another vote for PK, haven’t noticed a bit of difference.

Most of Charlotte Tilbury, overpriced bleh..

Elemis marine made me break out.

EL Night repair didn’t notice anything other than more spots and the counter girl have me the made up spill “it was originally used by doctors for people with scarring” was it fuck..

Blondie1984 · 01/01/2021 03:46

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish - brings me out in spots

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/01/2021 09:26

Estée Lauder anr, no difference.
Pk elasticizer was good but tested on animals so I use Superdrug’s version.
Clarins beauty flash balm, can’t see a difference.
Any eye serum.
Any decleor product. Too perfumed and too greasy.

IloveJudgeJudy · 01/01/2021 09:33

Anything Elemis. I had a four-piece set for day/night that was so expensive I felt I had to use it but it made my skin feel dry. I used to like Decleor skin products but they don't feel or smell the same any more. Prai Beauty products. I bought a couple of sets so only opened the second set after I'd finished the first; the perfume in the second set had changed/gone off. The Dior? mascara that you squeezed the bottom of the container to warm up/load the brush, PK elasticizer, EL eyeshadows.

Items I rate: Benefit Pearl primer, Benefit eyebrow products, Too Faced Better than Sex mascara - I'm still looking for the Holy Grail of mascaras and it's the best I've tried... so far, Fenty beauty eyeshadow palettes, Avon hand creams

YSL Faux Cil. Made my eyes water so much my then boyfriend thought his cat must be hiding in the car and causing an allergic reaction.
YSL Touche Éclat. Yes I used it as a highlight bit a concealer. I just looked cakey

8 hour cream. The smell lasted that long nothing else did. My hands felt drier afterwards.

Pai Rosehip oil. I like rosehip oil but this just felt too thin. I preferred The Ordinary. I also like The Ordinary squalane cleanser.

Sheisedo Ultimune serum. First couple of times I used it my skin did feel nice and soft but increasingly it started to feel quite tight and dry which I assume is the alcohol. Turns out it's a pre serum so I was supposed to then put another serum on top. At £70 a bottle I want it to be massaging my face and singing me to sleep

GellerYeller · 01/01/2021 22:03

Elemis 'Exotic' Mask was anything but. Cystic acne every time and the consistency of Sudocrem.

Diorshow mascara stuck all my lashes together as one and was impossible to remove. YSL faux cils is my go to.

Persisted with both Elasticiser and Flash Beauty Balm and concluded both were 'meh'.

Preferred Pai rosehip oil to The Ordinary.

GellerYeller · 01/01/2021 22:07

Special mention to Nails Inc that never fails to take a layer of nail off when it inevitably chips about ten mins. after application. Lured me in with good colours many times 😠

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 01/01/2021 22:10

nars creamy concealer. highlights every wrinkle under my eyes

and yy to clarins beauty flash balm - what is it even supposed to do??

FestiveFruitloop · 01/01/2021 22:14

Every makeup setting spray I've ever tried, including UD All-Nighter, has been a turkey. Makes my makeup look like it's melted on to my face, but not in a good way (think foundation settling into fine lines etc).

Also Clinique Dramatically Different. As far as I can tell, the only thing that's dramatically different is the price.

LaceyBetty · 01/01/2021 22:22

To the poster who broke out using the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser, I use the oil free version and absolutely love it. I have vicious middle-age acne too.

Agree about function of beauty and the ordinary. Also don't get on with olaplex.

NotMyDayJob · 01/01/2021 22:33

Another vote for function of beauty, and despite one of my options being a sensitive scalp, it was really, really bad for my head.

Also Laura Mercier oil free TM, wanted to love it but it oxidised badly and turned me bright orange!

Clarins Lotus Oil, I love facial oils, but this did nothing.

DieCryHate · 01/01/2021 22:51

Liz Earle cleanse and polish makes my skin red and dry. I now use Superdrug vitamin C hot cloth cleanser.

Anastasia Beverley hills brow pomade is fiddly, dries out easily and whilst fills in my sparse brows well, it also removes half of them with its stubbornness upon removal.

LunaTheCat · 01/01/2021 23:09

Agree with Rusty I love Jo Loves.

Goldieloxx · 01/01/2021 23:51

Touche Eclat for me too, caused dry patches for me, the woman on the YSL counter was really rude when I told her about it, totally put me off the brand. I use Dior Show highlighter instead now, which is great.
