What colour is my new hair?

I asked for copper/auburn and they used intense copper blonde mixed with something else.

To me, this looks purple/auburn? I struggle a bit with colours but definitely not what I expected.

There’s deffo no copper in there! It’s purplish-auburn. Black cherry type colour. It’s really nice, but if I’d asked for copper I’d not feel I’d got what I’d asked for. Copper is warm-toned whereas this is definitely more cool-toned.

Completely agree. OP, I am going to guess that you were asking the hairdresser to return your hair to the way it used to be, naturally. The colour you have now is not one that appears in nature. It is cool toned - it’s “red” in the modern sense, like lipstick or a pillar box. Not “red” the way we describe the naturally-occurring hair colour that is actually orange.

Eh? This doesnt look copper or Auburn to me at all, unless people aren't getting what those shades are actually supposed to look like.

You look like you have beautiful hair OP, but I wouldn't be happy with this. It's not what you asked for and I agree with a PP who said it isnt a colour found in nature. It looks artificial which isnt a bad thing at all in itself - but it's not what you asked for. It's a synthetic red, almost a cartoon surreal shade, like Ariel.

It’s defintely not a cartoon surreal shade, I wonder if it’s the colour settings on whatever device you’re viewing on. The overwhelming majority are seeing auburn copper colouring.

It’s also very pretty op, a lovely colour.

If you want in the future a more vibrant strawberry blond copper, ask your hairdresser for 8.3.

I see a lovely deep copper auburn.
It’s not black cherry - I have had that and that’s a dark purple almost towards the black end of the scale.

Are we all seeing a different image or something? Is it like that dress where some people see white and gold and others see black and blue? (Definitely copper, can’t see purple at all to me.)

I don’t see copper at all. Or purple! To me copper is orange brown, but I am seeing more pinky red. It looks very lovely though and looks like it suits your skin tone.

I would say rich auburn...more copper and def not purple

I love it. To me it looks red, can't see any purple.
Red fades and gets lighter quickly so in a few weeks could look a little different.

It’s slightly more red than copper but definitely not purple as that would be a much cooler red. As PP have said it’ll fade anyway so it’s probably better it’s a bit deeper red to start with as it should fade to more what you want. If you had a lighter copper it’d fade to nothing quicker.

Here it is in the daylight. I agree with PP it isn't a colour found in nature. I feel a bit like Jessica Rabbit.

It is still soo shiny and soft! I think the issue with strawberry blonde is that whenever my hair is bleached it turns to straw. I don't know if maybe I just haven't found the right hairdresser yet.

There's no purple in there, just red.

My hair is Garnier's "ultra lilac" and that really is purple 😂

Too bright for what @CrotchBurn? It has brightened my mood and that's enough for me right now! As PPs have said it will likely fade soon enough.

This, to me, is copper.

This is auburn.

And this is what I think a PP means by black cherry. This is the world that OP’s hair is in right now. It’s not warm, autumnal or tertiary - it’s cool, with red, pink and - yes - purple tones.

Yes, it will fade, but right now her hair is not auburn or copper.
