I was 'accused' of having Botox and fillers

In a very aggressive manner. I have nothing against Botox/fillers and have considered doing it myself during a very stressful year. I was sneered at, felt a bit taken aback, and didn't know what to say. I couldn't defend myself because that would just feed the attack, plus I have nothing against non invasive cosmetic procedures and am quite pro them. I did consider getting something done as we came out of lockdown 1, but I suppose I won't bother now
I'm 53, and think it's my new hair colour that has lifted my face. Being brave, here's my pic. Does my hair colour lift my features? I was going to go over it with darker toner, maybe I should leave it as it is?

@unipixie i wasn't referring to you in my post, I could tell you were Indian or perhaps middle eastern. You look fab. You have great genetics. If you want to dye your hair black go for it.

myhumps123 · 11/12/2020 12:07

My post was for the people that mentioned very dark hair ages people and make them look Haggard

Poppingnostopping · 11/12/2020 12:23

You look lovely and glamorous and very similar to a friend of mine that always turns heads when she goes out. I don't get Botox or filler vibes with you. Hair lovely.

I just don't think there's more to be said, you couldn't look much younger without starting to do ridiculous Nicole Kidman type things. Yes, you don't look 30, you look great though and shouldn't give any silly comment another thought.

I don't care whether you started this thread for validation- that's ok even if you did as you've posted it in Style and Beauty and are asking opinions about appearance!

Poppingnostopping · 11/12/2020 12:27

I also agree about the dark hair issue, some very pale people look odd with flat black hair dye, it's not flattering at all, however if your normal hair is dark, then it will suit you and match the rest of your face, eyebrows and so forth. I wouldn't go over it with darker tones, to me it looks good with your eyes/eyebrows.

I don't see many 53 year olds who look as good as you, OP, unlike lots of mumsnetters who live in a world of barely aging non wrinkled people in their 50s and 60s (but then again they do have super handsome husbands and stunning model like children as well, so I guess it comes as a package!)

Janegrey333 · 11/12/2020 12:55

@myhumps123

Look at the likes of Catherine zeta jones, Monica Belluci, many older Bollywood actresses look great with dark hair. Why should we dye our hair lighter to look younger? Again good old Mumsnet never fails with it's white privilege. If course us Asian and black people must look very old and Haggard with our dark hair and of course you whites with your dyed light hair look fresh, fabulous, young and youthful. Give over

You whites? Hmmmm

myhumps123 · 11/12/2020 13:25

@Janegrey333 I am white (Irish) also. Asian and white to be precise. Just hate how white people think they are the eptimone of beauty etc. As we all know on the whole Asian and blacks have dark brown/black hair. Why should we dye our hair lighter to look more attractive. We look fine as we are. Anyhow English men just love foreign women. But that's not the point.

XiCi · 11/12/2020 13:41

Seriously? Grow the fuck up. Pathetic

myhumps123 · 11/12/2020 13:54

@XiCi I am only stating the truth. Why don't you drop your bad language?

XiCi · 11/12/2020 14:02

Not the truth myhumps123 just your misguided opinion. Men, wherever they are from, are attracted to women for all sorts of reasons. To say all English men love all 'foreign' women is stupid and reductive. If it makes you feel better about yourself though you just crack on.

Tehmina23 · 11/12/2020 17:37

My sister has olive skin & had naturally dark hair so dyes it dark brown now it's quite grey, & looks amazing, not at all haggard.

I'm quite pale & get highlights which are pretty but can make me look washed out without enough makeup. But the alternative is a dull shade of greying mouse.

@unipixie I think your hair colour suits you.
I don't think you need Botox or fillers as you are pretty without them.
To be fair, many of the women (and young girls) who have invasive treatments don't probably actually need them.

It's weird though.
My sister & I have naturally full lips & people commented sometimes negatively- now those people probably have mls of lip filler to achieve even fuller lips!!
My sister has had racist comments about her olive skin too & now everyone wants fake tan.

Wester · 11/12/2020 18:45

You are absolutely gorgeous, no way in hell do you like 53!

AllDressedUpForMyselfOnly · 11/12/2020 18:50

Your stunning!!

Ellapaella · 11/12/2020 18:54

You are beautiful - you have fantastic bone structure and perfect features, you don't look like you've had botox at all. I'm going to be honest and say i think you look late 40's early 50's but so what? You are still more attractive than most women half your age so why does it matter how old people think you are? I bet whoever said it to you would give her right arm to look like you.

Well said and you have to wonder about the self esteem of posters who rock up just to sneer. That’s not being sanctimonious- that’s just having enough self confidence not to be thoroughly nasty about someone else on the internet.

No
DailyCandy · 11/12/2020 20:12

You look wonderful

ScalpHelp · 11/12/2020 22:45

I would place you at 37+. However I’m 23 and don’t spend much time with people older than me so it’s possible you just don’t fit my inaccurate perspective of a 53 year old. The combination of the hoodie, lighting & the general selfie aspect makes you seem younger.

Lardlizard · 11/12/2020 22:50

You could have itYour hair dyed silver would look nice I think

grassisjeweled · 12/12/2020 01:03

I'd be more inclined to say you look good, rather than fillers and botox. Your hair suits you : it's nice and thick.
