I was 'accused' of having Botox and fillers

unipixie · 10/12/2020 10:38

In a very aggressive manner. I have nothing against Botox/fillers and have considered doing it myself during a very stressful year. I was sneered at, felt a bit taken aback, and didn't know what to say. I couldn't defend myself because that would just feed the attack, plus I have nothing against non invasive cosmetic procedures and am quite pro them. I did consider getting something done as we came out of lockdown 1, but I suppose I won't bother now
I'm 53, and think it's my new hair colour that has lifted my face. Being brave, here's my pic. Does my hair colour lift my features? I was going to go over it with darker toner, maybe I should leave it as it is?

I think you look gorgeous! Keep at it. The hair looks just right

dontgobaconmyheart · 10/12/2020 12:45

How can anyone tell if they haven't seen what your hair looked like before OP? Or make any comments on your looks based on one photo that is hardly in HD. You look very nice, have lovely healthy looking hair and skin etc but I wouldn't have said you'd had botox, it doesn't look like you have in the photo. You look youthful but not 'lifted' in your face.

I'd just forget about it tbh, the person is seemingly rude, ultimately what's to be upset about? You want credit for looking naturally good rather than them thinking you had some botox? Given that you'd been considering it anyway I just cant see any logical reason to be so offended, past the point at being miffed at someone speaking out of turn.

SaraSara12 · 10/12/2020 12:47

You look early 30's!! Whatever you're doing it's working!!

unipixie · 10/12/2020 12:53

@Janegrey333

I want to ask if you are using hair extensions but I dare not or I might be accused of being jealous. It seems to be the default accusation in these parts.Hmm
I've thought about it, my hair was thinning for a while , but my lovely hairdresser put lighter bits through my balayage which has made it look thicker. My hair was very dark with dark brown balayage. I think I'll leave the hair until NY and see how I feel.

The person who said it was a school mum. She isn't usually lik that, I guess she was just having a bad day. I just smiled and said something like if only I could.
My hair is naturally black-brown. I've had the balayage lightened.
I'll probably leave it until my next appointment and see how I feel. Hopefully there won't be another lockdown

You look great! You're friends are obviously jealous. Tell them to bugger off.

ScalpHelp · 10/12/2020 13:00

Weird thread. How did this conversation come about?

I can’t say whether it looks like you had Botox or not as I don’t know what you looked like “before”.

I can definitely say you don’t have filler as there are areas of your face that could benefit from filler (not to be nasty)

In terms of the hair, to be honest I think your balayage placement could look a lot better. I don’t really think it has “lifted” your face. You probably just feel more confident and are carrying yourself differently? The hair would look nicer with more highlights concentrated at the ends and around your face (money pieces)

TheDaydreamBelievers · 10/12/2020 13:08

You look wonderful and I wouldnt say you look like you have had fillers etc (not that I'm against it at all, people should do what makes them happy)

DameCelia · 10/12/2020 13:55

Hi @unipixie, you and I have almost identical face shape and colouring (if I dyed my hair to what it used to be).
Our facial structure can very easily look a bit haggard with any loss of weight, tiredness, illness, and with age.
I know people assume I have fillers to stop the droop that comes to a mediterranean face on a slim body, I don't, I use frequency tools and treatments to keep the volume.
I wonder whether people are subconsciously used to what our face type looks like without treatments and if they see a face that doesn't look like that they automatically assume work.
Nutella Lawson is a good example of someone who would probably start looking thin cheeked and therefore a bit droopy without work.

You look great

Melange99 · 10/12/2020 17:11

I overheard a couple of colleagues saying I used botox and had a boob job. Neither of which is true. I am slimmish with fairly big chest, and not much in the way of wrinkles/face sag. I feel a bit pissed off that I have been accused of doing stuff to myself when I haven't. Each to their own but I am not interested. They haven't seen me since March - they wouldn't say it now, this year has aged me and broadened me out.

Lovely hair OP, thick, shiny and very natural looking.

nimbuscloud · 10/12/2020 19:32

Lovely hair.

jumperweather · 10/12/2020 21:15

Your hair looks great! You look better than me and I'm in my 30's! Rock it :)

CrotchBurn · 10/12/2020 21:39

I think you look fab HOWEVER I think you would look more youthful with a shorter cut

Arabiannights01 · 10/12/2020 22:35

Wow - you look amazing. Women can be so jealous so just ignore them.
Definitely agree with not going darker with your hair colour, it’s perfect the way it is.

peboh · 10/12/2020 22:37

You look great. I'd thank them for the compliment, then pay them not more attention.

BathshebaWasOnTheRoof · 10/12/2020 22:47

You look fab and the other woman was clearly jealous. I know it was designed to be mean but it’s a compliment really. Smile

I’m mid 50s and have almost no grey hair and I’ve had bitchy comments along the lines of oh, who does your colour and then an accusation that I’m lying! Same for my eyebrows.

Christmashottubintheshed · 10/12/2020 22:52

You look great op, I would never have guessed your age!

LaurieFairyCake · 10/12/2020 22:56

Love the hair

You look very 'fresh', yes the foundation but also you have good brows and a more olive skin tone so I guess you have a lot less wrinkles

ApplestheHare · 11/12/2020 06:25

I really like your hair. I think the slightly lighter bits definitely lift it and give some definition. I have similarly dark hair but no highlights and it's looking very flat atm! You are very pretty so I wouldn't worry about the comment.

TheVanguardSix · 11/12/2020 06:33

I think you've gotten out of this thread what you needed: validation, adulation. Why do you actually even care what another school gate parent thinks, OP? Isn't that the beauty of being 53??? Have you bypassed the don'tgiveafuck age of enlightenment that hits us in our 40s?! Don't worry about the outside! You look great, for what it's worth. But open your third eye and just levitate above it all.

This

You are 53 OP and clearly insecure and attention seeking.

Why don’t you see your fifties as the decade to address these features rather than concerning yourself about aesthetics?
