Thanks so much for the boot comments the other day, everyone! I tried them on again and they've started to loosen up already and when I "styled" them a bit more I really liked them.

I have nearly £800 worth of sale dresses in my next basket. I do need to "up my game" regarding work wear whenever we go back. Even though I'm sure no one notices most of it is old, cheap and hand me downs which considering my new role is not reflective of what I think I should be wearing..... Does that make sense? So how do I decide what to try/buy????

Thanks for the outfit compliment. I really like the shape of your dress today, and your outfit with the Reiss bodysuit looked fab the other day. I absolutely know what you mean re: smart work clothes. It's an area I really struggle with because I work from home 90% of the time (even pre-Covid) so can be very casual, but, at least when we were allowed out of our houses, I do sometimes have to go to London for meetings, and I never feel like I hit "smart and effortlessly stylish", more "county bumpkin dresses up for a day in the big smoke". Which is absolutely what I am, but it's not the look I really want to go for.

🤣🤣🤣 love that we are probably all telling ourselves negative stories, I don't see country bumpkin in your styling.

We definitely are examples of imposter syndrome in action.

I always have this thing that, I don't deserve to have the power/ position that I do, when actually whilst I've been extremely lucky I've also worked very hard to make sure I'm knowledgeable and educated on loads of different topics.

I think I'll go for dresses that I like the colours I often find work dresses to boring especially in black and then I don't feel good in them so never wear them.

I missed the bots! Damn. @Sickoffamilydrama thank you. When I got my first big promotion I used a personal shopper at John Lewis and banana republic. It was brilliant and I got a capsule wardrobe that I loved. Everything went with everything and all I had to add was a linen dress from Hobbs and sandals plus a red coat and I was sorted for the next 2 years pretty much. At the time it felt a huge expense as I bought everything at once. John Lewis and Baukjen and I think the dressing room offer online sessions and I think it would be worth it. You have a fab figure and you deserve to feel great

Nice outfits @CaveMum I'm not dressed yet but thought I'd share with you the dresses I bought. I think I was clutching at straws thinking they are work suitable it's one of the only industries that is very smart/corporate still where as these dresses are like I work in an artistic industry.

I suppose I could change careers to match my dresses.....wanders off looking for jobs running an art gallery!

@Sickoffamilydrama - I think the middle one (Phase Eight) is quite corporate. The blue one on the right not so much!

I agree with @OublietteBravo about the phase eight dress, it's perfect.I always forget about phase eight but they do some good stuff once you rummage ( some stuff is a bit per una in that it's over embellished). Look at Hobbs too

I overslept which has meant DH is deep into complex NHS what the f* are we going to do about the new SA strain calls, he covers an area with lots of cases. So no yoga.

Top: hush. Bought this about 18 months ago and have worn it 3 times. While I love it the quality is appalling. It bobbled after one wear, almost when I put it on. So now it almost looks like fleece material. But it's comfy and a good shape
Jeans: hush, was reading that pale jeans are bag and that reminded me of these and again, super comfy after a broken night
Trainers: jigsaw ( according to Stylebook, my most worn item since I logged everything)

I’m back in trusty Jolie Moi today.

Anyone know what the sizing is like with East dresses? I’ve seen a dress on eBay that looks good for summer holidays (I’m still praying we get to go away, we moved last year’s holiday to this year and I really want to go!). I could take a punt on it, it’s only on at £8 + postage at the moment, but I don’t own any East stuff so just wondering what it’s like. The dress still has the tag on which says RRP is £179 so could be a bargain!

Thanks everyone I think I might have missed my own brief there of buying some work suitable dresses and just bought myself nice ones instead! This is the problem corporate wear doesn't excite me, I think I'll step away from online shopping for a while as think I'm doing it from boredom as well!

I'm near Bicester village so if I save I can go splurge on work dresses whenever we are allowed to go to shops.

That's annoying @Sooverthemill DS has a jumper from M&S that did similar it literally bobbled on the first wear. It was an Xmas present but kids wear isn't cheap from there so I expected better. I used to really rate their kids wear but it seems to have gone down hill.

I think @CaveMum East comes up big but at that price it's worth a go anyway.

Hello, have been awol waiting for pay day so I could buy some stuff I need and today my DM boots arrived!!!

I have bought a couple of long sleeved tops, jeans and a long vest jacket from Free People (which dh says is hideous) and think they'll arrive later this week. Also bought a Wrangler denim blue chore coat and a blue and white stripe shirt from Tommy Hilfiger.

Am looking forward to new gear as I sold most of my wardrobe last year and have bugger all to wear!

Ignore the clothes explosion next to me - dh can't look for his running gear without pulling everything out on the to bed...

Pic doesn't show the boots well at all...they are ox blood and so beautiful I have been wearing them round the house all day.

Another wrong pair of jeans! Was aiming for my Boden girlfriend black ones but I can't tell them apart in the dingy light. But actually quite happy to put these on. These used to be my going out jeans a few years ago

I think I’ve managed to get back into the habit of wearing work clothes during the week. I do actually quite enjoy wearing a dress. I suppose the main change is that I wear footwear for tramping around the local neighbourhood rather than office footwear. I keep being tempted to buy more boots. But I don’t know how permanent WFH is, so I’m holding off. I did crack and order a few bits and pieces from the Whistles sale - photos to follow once the parcel arrives!

@Sooverthemill - I really relate to your issue of struggling to identify clothes in dingy light. I actually bought some rechargeable LED lights and stuck them in my wardrobe.

@OublietteBravo don't suppose you have a link? I'm going to have 'my man' build me a wardrobe once I've paid off the kitchen next year and would have lights put in but a temporary solution would be fab. Also for DDs room as I can't have a light on in there because of her light photo sensitivity would be good to have something in her cupboard

Also I love your outfit today. I am waiting for a dress to arrive ostensibly for DD1s wedding but I will wear it ahead of that if I like it!
