General beauty advent calendar discussion and swap thread

Like many others, I’m looking forward to starting my Beauty Advent Calendars on Tuesday. With no M&S calendar or thread this year, I thought it might be fun to have a general beauty advent calendar discussion and swap thread. I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts about the calendar they are opening, whatever it is.

I suggest though we comment only on content from current or previous days, so as not to spoil the surprise for those opening one day at a time.

I ordered the No7 one too so I have that one to keep me going. I know LF reuse numbers but I haven't got anything else coming so it must be it surely?

I thought you had been refunded but reading that it looks like you didn't?

Even if it turns up, you should still get compensated as it is late. Keep emailing the exec.

Not quite free as I spent £168 on the CEWUK box as a replacement but I can live with than

Oh I have 12 day Origins as well. I am curious but I will save it for January.

I'm also completely over-invested in the LF saga. After such a crap 2020, we're absolutely ready for Christmas in this house (DD put her tree up today!), and those calendars turning up after all seems completely in the Christmas spirit!

I’ll be opening Net a Porter and F&M. @CupboardMonster Good to have someone to discuss F&M with. I loved both the 2018 and 2019 ones, hoping this year’s won’t disappoint.

I'm using up the last of the M&S bits and have surprised myself by starting to love the Percy and Reed wonderbalm. I will likely buy M&S if they bring it back next year.

I have Look Fantastic (sorry Ochon!) and I've completely forgotten what's in it so that will be a surprise every day! Hope there's no Percy and Reed or black eyeliner - I really can't remember.

I'm going to enjoy this thread as DH just looks blank and the dog is utterly useless when it comes to discussion of skincare products...

Two things - 1) I really love the way everyone adds in "Sorry Ochon" (and Buffalo) when LF is mentioned, and 2) I don't remember what's in LF (total goldfish) but I would bet whatever Hermes is currently shipping under my tracking number that there is a black eye liner. Every box/calendar seems to have black eyeliner. My dd refused to take the last one I got in a beauty box as she reckons she has enough to do her until she hits 40 (she's 20).

It will be interesting to see do the expensive ones have black eyeliner. Might be worth going the extra just to avoid another black eyeliner.

I've got the M&S Summer beauty bag with most bits available if anyone wants to swap anything from that. I ended up with 2 bags.

I've just realised it's the Liberty one I've got, not the Selfridges one. It was a gift but 90% of it is stuff I wouldn't use unfortunately so I'll be looking out for lovely things to swap for if anyone has their eye on anything from that calendar! Am definitely a cosmetics rather than a skincare woman!

I’m trying to remember which calendar it was that had a brilliant Stila shimmery bronze eyeliner. I think it may actually have been M&S about two years ago. The only problem being that none of us could work out how to twist it up once the initial bit had worn down. That was very frustrating as it was a fabulous colour.
