General beauty advent calendar discussion and swap thread

Like many others, I’m looking forward to starting my Beauty Advent Calendars on Tuesday. With no M&S calendar or thread this year, I thought it might be fun to have a general beauty advent calendar discussion and swap thread. I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts about the calendar they are opening, whatever it is.

I suggest though we comment only on content from current or previous days, so as not to spoil the surprise for those opening one day at a time.

Bit disappointed with Liberty again today. Decent size bottle of aromatherapy oil but I’m not a fan of the smell! It’s supposedly forest but there’s a big hit of pine-scented loo cleaner in there...

I am Finnish and my dc like Moomins. I got them dvds when they were toddlers. Now that have Moomin chocolate calendar every year that my parents send to them. I have also Moomin coffee mugs and bowls, and each dc have their own Moomin plate.

I have obviously been very deprived.

All three dc loved Dr. Seuss as kids but probably not so much now. The book for ds22 was more for me than him. It was Oh the places you'll go which I thought was appropriate for a graduation.

A Moomin book may have just dropped into my amazon basket. DD20 might like it but she doesn't live at home so she can't have it.

After seeing some of the comments about eye makeup remover and Clarins I just thought I’d mention that I got a Clarins one in a calendar last year. Possibly the Fenwick one? And there may have been a Clarins item in the Debenhams one last year too.

I love this thread! Have you been to Moomin World? How lovely that your DC like the moomins too I find Moomin stuff in the U.K. quite expensive but I do like the Covent Garden shop. These are my DC  they were also very expensive

You must miss him but it's obviously your fault. He'd never have thought of going if it wasn't for the book.

Ds has no interest in working abroad, although he is about 3 hours away so we don't see that much of him. Dd, on the other hand, will be gone the second she graduates.

I like the Moomins too and have been to the Covent Garden shop which is very cute.

So festive glittery gold nail varnish in Boots No 7 AC and a mini Bare minerals prime time primer in the JL AC which I was going to give to DD but as there is much love for it I will be keeping it to try. Not sure why a primer had to be quite so small 7ml ie tester size.

I really like Nivea double effects eye make up remover.

I've recently changed from Clarins to Clinique take the day off eye makeup remover and much prefer it-it's lovely and gentle and very effective.

Anyway, after a strong start from JL was ever so slightly disappointed at the teeny tiny size primer today.

I love today's. Feels so nice at this time of year. I actually love DH as much as he bought it for me solely for the Moomin lip balm (I am obsessed with Moomins) but this range suits me as my skin is so thin and pale.

Like the look of the Lumene mascara that I pulled out of the Lumene calendar this evening.

Nars lip pencil from the Fenwick calendar ... not quite as exciting.

The Lumene mascara is fantastic (I opened the whole calendar in November and have been using it a few weeks!) I’m really fussy about mascara and have yet to find a good well priced one but this might be my all time favourite, up there with Lancôme Hypnose and Benefit They’re Real. It goes on really easily (great brush!) lengthens and holds a curl. It’s a bit of a pain to get off - more like a waterproof mascara - but I guess that’s understandable given its curl holding power.

I use moisture surge on my driest areas Retailqueenie, it’s brilliant.

Today’s items!
White company- the body balm to go with yesterday’s body scrub. Looking forward to using this!
Rituals - an overnight hair mask. Not something I fancy using- I’m so worried I’ll wake up with greasy hair. Does anyone have any experience with it?
Joe & Seph - pumpkin spice - I was skeptical but absolutely yummy

Dark green un-named Nespresso this morning. I think it was Stormio. Got me all jittery just as I was starting work at 0645. Ugh!

Lovely Rituals of Jing Reed diffuser. Have it sat next to my dyson fan so I get wafts of it when I have a flush. Lol.

I buy this diffuser for our bedroom, it's really lovely!

I will offer everything I won't use to friends in the next few weeks and may try to swap after. I have the liberty aveda leave in treatment - 1.5 of them as I end up with two advents and it doesn't suit my hair. Today's items as while I like it I don't need two of them.

I have the rituals jing deep sleep spray, and I don't like the smell- in fact I wondered if it was off! What is it meant to smell like?!
