Boy mama sweatshirt suggestions ?

EgSk · 10/11/2020 15:14

I’m looking for a boy mama sweatshirt or long sleeve top ( could say anything along the lines of boy mama)! Any recommendations? I want something slightly nicer quality if there is anything out there . I love soft materials and an oversized fit !

OP posts:

The OP was asking where to get one, not what people thought of them. People have been so snobby and judgemental and have probably undermined the confidence of the OP and for what exactly? Needlessly nasty.

ShirleyPhallus · 11/11/2020 11:58

I think it’s fine the ones that say “it’s not my thing but here’s where you might find it”.

But the ones that say in a nasty, sneering tone “is this even A THING? I had children 10 years ago and I’d wasn’t A Thing then, I can’t understand why you’d possibly do this” accompanied by several of these Confused They’re the worst

And then the poster who couldn’t comprehend that a shirt with a slogan on it is exactly the same as any T-shirt with any slogan, badge, colour, style etc etc - it’s all the same. It’s literally just displaying your taste for the world to see.

LivingoffCoffee · 11/11/2020 11:59

Honestly this thread has gone in a ridiculously unnecessary direction.

@EgSk I don't have a specific recommendation, but would suggest looking at Etsy for custom sweatshirts. I find the smaller artisans on there will have better quality (read their reviews to find the best ones) and you can customise to exactly what you'd like.

What happens if in a few years the boy decides she’s a girl?

Alexandernevermind · 11/11/2020 12:55

You could go to a uniform supplier and get something printed? (Did anyone else think that this was going to be a trans parent post?)

It's not my cup of tea but lots of people have car stickers advertising their kid's sex. I've seen lots of slogan clothes for pregnant women too. In recent years there been a lot of shops selling family pjs like Mummy Elf/Daddy Elf/Mini Elf too. There is clearly a market for this sort of thing so but mean to take the piss out of OP.

If you're reading this OP buy a soft top and get it printed professionally.

Lisa78Lemon · 11/11/2020 13:03

People getting so worked up about something just because it's not to their taste; absurd!

I personally love the idea and have asked my DH to get me a 'Mama Bear' sweater and my DS (who is 1yo) a bear cub matching sweater.

Why people have to criticise the OP is beyond me, she wasn't even asking what people thought of the idea!

TicTacTwo · 11/11/2020 13:03

I think the phrase "Boy mama" might be the problem as we don't really use mama commonly in the uk. When I read your title I didn't realise you meant "mum of boys" which would be the normal phrasing.

TicTacTwo · 11/11/2020 13:09

Just had a quick Google on NotOnTheHighStreet which is the place I'd look if I was buying this for you as a gift and they only have slogans that assume you have more than one boy. I'm not sure if you contact them they'd change it to boy singular.

I still think buying the sweatshirt and getting professional printing is the answer.

Ellapaella · 11/11/2020 13:26

There are literally loads if you google 'Mum of boys sweater'. Tons of different ones and plenty on Etsy.

drumandthebass · 11/11/2020 15:27

It's obviously another shit American thing. So tacky

Jemma2907 · 11/11/2020 16:24

Being unnecessarily judgemental over what someone else chooses to wear when they never asked for your opinion. So tacky.

Member741788 · 11/11/2020 16:32

Wow, mumsnet is is horrible place sometimes.

OP, the Lisa Macario sweatshirts look lovely and they do custom machine embroidered ones. I’ve wanted one for ages, just not sure whether they would be oversized enough.

I hope that you can ignore the unnecessary but needed comments on here OP

This was such an innocent uncontroversial OP. It's sad it's had some unneeded comments.

I don't have a jumper like that so I don't have recommendations but I hope you find one and I hope you're not the type to let comments put you off

baubled · 11/11/2020 16:39

There's some absolute arseholes on this thread

Spied · 11/11/2020 16:39

Good Lord. I'm off to peruse boy mamma sweatshirts.Grin

I was supposed to put NOT needed at the start
Welshponyslave · 11/11/2020 19:49

Bloodyhell. I didn’t realise what controversy, anger and disdain I must create as I wear my “Raising Boys” sweater at the park or museum 😂
Tbh I just like it, it is black with gold shiny lettering and I have always been a fan of a slogan top. Not to everybody’s taste but hey ho, that’s what makes life interesting.
My boys are fab, I am proud to be their Mum and the sweater makes me smile.

ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords · 12/11/2020 00:10

@FamilyOfAliens

I don’t know why everyone is saying S&B is a friendly, supportive board.

If you post about a quirky but comfortable pair of shoes you like, it can be brutal, with posters saying their granny wouldn’t be seen dead in them.

I think if people feel that tops with slogans advertising your status as a parent are tacky, it should be ok to say so, even if that’s not what the OP asked. Threads often stray from the original question.

Maybe because the S stands for style, so if people think things are totally lacking in it, they say so.
purpleme12 · 12/11/2020 02:00

How sad that people feel the want to do that

MadamShazam · 12/11/2020 09:35

Sorry I have no advice OP, but you have had some unnecessarily harsh replies here. Flowers

Exactly as they’ve done here.

nemeton · 12/11/2020 10:24

I assumed this was going to be asking for matching little boy/Mum jumpers Confused
Couldn't work out why it was so long, so I assumed it was a new brand!

Look how long #BeKind lasted...
