Does anyone have an really good lip balm recommendations? My lips are really dry, I found some Vaseline in my draw so using that at the moment.

same for me

Burts Bees is fine for me when my lips are not too bad, but Nuxe is better

mathanxiety · 08/11/2020 07:58

Carmex.

The one.

The only.

Vanessashanessajenkins2 · 08/11/2020 08:01

I have the same issue. Only thing that works is Carmex

squishee · 08/11/2020 08:21

I used to love Nuxe Rêve de Miel (comes in a glass pot), until the formulation was changed and utterly ruined. Such a shame.

Now I think a balm in a jar is potentially a direct route in for the virus. Touching your lips is touching your face!

EA8 makes my throat scratchy as do a number of brands.
I've found that drinking plenty helps reduce my dry lips.
I also take l-lysine.

Housewife2010 · 08/11/2020 08:33

The Nuxe balm in a jar is quite bulky so I keep it at home, therefore, I don't fear any Covid risk. I keep stick and tube balms in my handbag. I like the Caudalie Lip Conditioner for out and about.

TheTeenageYears · 08/11/2020 08:40

Palmers cocoa butter lip balm, been using for more than 20 years. Some lip balms dry out lips because they contain glycerin- avoid those ones.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 08/11/2020 08:47

Blistex instensive moisturiser (preferably the cherry one)

rc22 · 08/11/2020 09:00

I agree with all those who have said Carmex. One of my all time favourite beauty products!

WonderMoon · 08/11/2020 09:07

Lanolin - the one in the purple tube used to sooth cracked nipples from bf. If it works on nipples, its going to work on lips. I use it all the time on my lips. Its AMAZING.

TheVanguardSix · 08/11/2020 09:12

I was a model for 20 years. My lips were one of my best features. Age and menopause and all the rest have done their bit to take that away from me! But my point is not to say "Oooh look at me. I was a model" but to tell you, I've tried 'em all and I've worked with the best make-up artists who've tried them all. I know a good lip balm when I find one.

The very best- my top 3-

M&S mint lip balm stick (you can grab it at the checkout next to the hand sanitizer. It's amazing!)

Uriage lip balm stick

Khiel's lip balm

Girlintheframe · 08/11/2020 09:14

I've tried loads of lip balms! Currently using lanolips which is pretty good but EA 8 hour in the pot is my absolute favourite

Agree. I have several.

Burts Bees is good as well.

fivedogstofeed · 08/11/2020 09:28

Nuxe honey lip balm, the one in the pot. You don't need to carry it around but keep at home and use twice a day. Transformative!

Lily193 · 08/11/2020 09:34

Dr Lipp

GlassOfPimms · 08/11/2020 09:44

I was having real trouble with sore, cracked lips because I have a nervous habit of biting my bottom lip when I get stressed.

Tried many of the lip balms recommended above but they all made things worse. I got into a viscous cycle of applying balm then a few hours later they'd feel dry again so I kept applying it all day.

The only thing that worked for me is using a lip cream and not a balm. I'm currently using the No 7 one but might give the Elizabeth Arden one a try too.

ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords · 08/11/2020 09:55

Those of you that like the Nuxe, what is the consistency? I bought some because I love their other products, but I find it very thick, almost solid, and almost grainy. I just wondered if I got a dodgy pot, or if it's always like that.

poppet31 · 08/11/2020 10:43

I got this one in my M&S advent calendar last year and it's working pretty well. Smells lovely too.

ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords , yes you are right about the nuxe one being quite solid and a bit gritty when you first put it on, mine is like that

Snackasaurus · 08/11/2020 11:22

O'Keefes 😊

TheFormidableMrsC · 08/11/2020 11:28

O'Keefes. Miraculous stuff.

throwaway10000 · 08/11/2020 11:31

I have tried loads, including all the lip products Kiehl’s have. Carmex just works. I have lip fillers though so my lips get incredibly dry in winter (more than the average person) so that’s probably why nothing else does the trick.

Housewife2010 · 08/11/2020 12:14

I always avoid mint scented lipbalms because I've read that the mint essential oil can dry your lips out. My Nuxe balm isn't grainy but I've had one that's got grainy near the end before.

DarlingCoffee · 08/11/2020 15:41

Yeah you want Carmex it’s the best one

userxx · 08/11/2020 16:15

@throwaway10000 Is that a side effect?
