After stalking the website for days because they were out of stock, just ordered these table gifts www.toa.st/uk/product/homeware/6xpar/set+of+6+furoshiki+table+gifts.htm

Feel disproportionately pleased - and very hopeful that we can do family Christmas because I know my mum will love them as much as I do 😊. Better do some work now...

MrsCat1 · 09/11/2020 10:37

They look beautiful @Saurus72. What a great idea. I’m tempted to make some myself using the mountain of fabric off-cuts that I have.

Has anyone done any of the Toast zoom sessions? I did one on Kantha embroidery a few weeks ago and it was excellent. I’ve booked in for the table decoration one so hoping for great inspiration from that.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 09/11/2020 12:02

Welcome back moomin and auldfox
I've got the checkerboard ikat dress but haven't worn it in this colder weather so would be interested in how you wear it moomin. I may try with a stripey top underneath now that you've planted the seed.
I'm all toast today in bottle green cords and anja check shirt.
mizu I don't know the boot brand but they look a bit like palladium boots based on the sole. Might be worth looking at them too as they are less ££

NoCureForLove · 09/11/2020 12:36

I've worn the checkerboard dress recently with a denim jacket on top and tights. Went well with denim. I think the shoulders might be difficult with a layer under but that's probably just me... not very good at layering. Smile

AFingerofFudge · 09/11/2020 14:35

@Saurus72 am very envious- I would love to buy those furoshiki gifts but they're out of stock again!

Saurus72 · 09/11/2020 14:49

@AFingerofFudge I’ve been obsessively stalking the website because they look so lovely and there was just one there this morning. I was considering the crackers when it looked like they weren’t coming back but those clothes looked so chic! Small things hey!

BerniceBobsHerHair · 09/11/2020 17:32

maizeblouse other brands i like are cos and arket on the high street, community clothing and Kate sheridan. I like the Justine tabak dresses a pp linked to but haven't bought from there.
I think seasalt is a bit toast like. I like people tree also. Am sure there are a lot more!

Moominmammaatsea · 09/11/2020 17:59

Bernice, I like the idea of a matelot top under the Ikat checkerboard dress! NoCure, I’m glad it’s not just me who thinks the dress can work in the winter months. @Saurus72, now I will be obsessively checking the stock for more furoshiki table decorations. I love heirloom decorations that I can pass on to my girls (they’ll probably bin them after I’ve gone and buy cheap crackers from Poundland but the sentiment is there...)

My Fracap boots arrived today and they are so beautiful that I broke my own rules and wore them immediately. I wore them with my Toast brown and black check dress (£48 in the recent sale), Falke grey melange merino wool tights and a charcoal cashmere cardigan. Secretly, I would have preferred the olive leather but black is more practical, especially when I wear them with my Japanese indigo denim trousers because of the inevitable colour rub.

AuldFox · 09/11/2020 18:39

moomin really sorry you’re having a tough time with so many demands. Do look after yourself even if it’s just a long bath/slice of cake/lie down.

Ok so I don’t know what’s going on but this thread is not coming up on my “I’m on” list, I haven’t hidden it, and doesn’t even come up on the S&B board for me. I can only find it by searching for it. Bizarre.

What gives MN?!

AuldFox · 09/11/2020 18:41

moomin I want to try a thin navy roll neck jumper under the chequerboard dress, but I seem to have moved onto my typical business like tweed/knits of winter already, as I’m just going to work and back these days.

Craftycorvid · 09/11/2020 19:41

Hi all! So my cashmere blend cardi’ finally arrived and, yes, Turmeric coloured it is - soft and lovely too. I’ve scored a Seth shirt and Ashley jeans on eBay, and really happy with both. The jeans fit well - 10 really would have been a bit big. The shirt is the most amazing heavy quality linen/cotton.

Moominmammaatsea · 10/11/2020 10:26

MrsCat, I’ve booked in for three of the workshop sessions and I’m looking forward to the Festive Table one most of all. I’ve participated in a few of these online sessions so far, including visits to artists’ workshops, plus the truly fantastic Graham St AW20 styling tutorial. I couldn’t get a ticket to the furoshiki session, so if anyone has booked in but is unable to ‘attend’, then please do give me the heads up (I’m happy to swap a ticket to another event).

@Saurus72, I managed to order a furoshiki table set this morning; I am disproportionately happy! I’ve used some cash we’ve been sent for a family Christmas gift by a very generous relative. They will look splendid on our Christmas table - but will I get away with persuading the children to part with their gifts so I can put them away till next year?! Grin

Saurus72 · 10/11/2020 10:43

Oh fantastic @Moominmammaatsea - very excited for them to arrive. And we are basically saving the planet so 🤷‍♀️. Maybe those positive vibes will be rewarded by the next batch of sales buys - I seem to have quite a few things on my wish list again. Bought this yesterday, one left in my size www.johnlewis.com/modern-rarity-tie-waist-dress-navy/p4939517 I’d been looking at it for ages but not wanting to pay £140. £42 seems like a steal, will hopefully be perfect for work.

Spottyegg · 12/11/2020 14:20

@faustina did you buy anything from the +j collection? I ordered the double faced coat (in s and m as unsure as to sizing), and a stand collar shirt in lilac - will see what they are like!

Spottyegg · 12/11/2020 14:21

My workmate has bought the Toast green tweed coat - it’s lovely Envy

Countmeout · 12/11/2020 14:43

@Spottyegg 🐸(sorry can’t find a green face) is it very weighty? How green is it? I had earmarked it for the sale (just to try in the interest of the common good you understand)

faustina · 12/11/2020 14:45

@Spottyegg - I got the cashmere blend collarless coat and the hybrid down jacket (the shorter one with the sticky up collar) and also the pink and scarlet wool stole

I have no idea about sizing either - got small in both. I bought a raincoat when she last did a collab with them and that was an XS but it could have done with being a bit bigger - mind you, uniqlo have made their sizes much more generous since then!

Spottyegg · 12/11/2020 15:14

@Countmeout quite an emerald green, but can’t comment on weight - looked cosy on though! @faustina I can’t justify another hybrid down coat, I have a sale one from last year which is not as elegant but perfectly ok.

MaizeBlouse · 12/11/2020 16:28

Not strictly Toast so I hope I don't get booted off the thread. But this lovely dress from And/Or arrived the other day. You maybe can't see in the pic but it has a thin plaid pattern woven in. Its a very light cotton but not see through. It was in the JL price match.

Thanks for the alt. brand recommendations, most of them I had never heard of before so it was really nice to have a look and see some new clothes.

Reading back on the last thread a PP said about buying more consciously and that's what I want to do moving forwards. I deffo bought a lot of fast fashion in my early 20s and so much of it was only worn for a year or so. Now I'm hoping to buy clothes that last and now I know my body shape a bit better that helps too. I'm still bfing the baby so a lot of my clothes have to be boob practical too.

ToastCosILoveIt · 12/11/2020 17:01

I dabbled in the +J release this morning. I have been searching for a thin down coat for a long time. Uniqulo's standard one arrived yesterday but it is so plain (and a tad small when done up) that i am sending it back. I am also sending a Zara one back: i didnt realise when I ordered it that it is fleece lined so way too heavy (and too long and big).

I have ordered the +J long down coat in a medium and large as their sizing is all over the place and also ordered the hybrid one that you have ordered @fautina but only in a large - hoping it is not too big. I was tempted by the cashmere coat too but simply don't need another coat in that style.

I did also order the collarless dress from the range in black and in navy. Looking forward to receiving them all and hope I don't have to send loads back. it will be nice to have some 'Jil Anderson' in my wardrobe.

Craftycorvid · 12/11/2020 17:26

Does anyone have the ‘Franca’ style dress in any colour or fabric? I wondered what the shape might be like on a short a**ssed size 8?

Moominmammaatsea · 12/11/2020 18:05

Maize, that dress is gorgeous, but nowhere near as scrumptious as the lovely little munchkin hanging off the hem!

Craftycorvid · 12/11/2020 18:28

Ha ha! Yes, just spotted that the dress has a very cute accessory on the hem! Grin

Saurus72 · 12/11/2020 18:30

@Craftycorvid yes, I bought a navy jersey (quite thick) Franca on the summer sale. I’m 5ft 5ins and usually a Toast dress size 12-14 and bought the Franca in Medium. It’s pretty fitted on the top and generous in the skirt. I’ve worn it to death wfh - comfy and warm. The neckline is super flattering I think. I can’t take a picture tho - it’s in the wash because I’ve worn it twice this week already 😊

Saurus72 · 12/11/2020 18:31

Oh, and comes about two inches below the knee.
