Also guilty. Snapped up a random cord dress that appeared late last night. I DO NOT NEED MORE DRESSES.
But have today returned a lot of unwanted sale stuff to Toast.

Keepers are:
Blue velvet jumpsuit - had to size right down

Ora cotton check dress - much nicer colour - brighter in rl than website

Cord Anja shirt. Very nice and will wear lots. Good with denim.

Still waiting on gold wide leg culottes and now this dress...

I'm done. Smile

ToastCosILoveIt · 07/01/2021 13:54

Well I fell down another rabbit hole called Kitri. Has anyone ever ordered from them? I have had my eye on a pink tiered dress and a green pleated dress: both now in the sale and an additional 10% off so they are on their way...that's it now, I think I will have a no spend rest of January and February.

parttimepunk · 07/01/2021 15:15

I ordered a dress from Kitri about 2 years ago. I've mixed feelings about it. On the one hand I really like the style of it and it's very well cut. However I was surprised at how cheap the material feels. Mind you, I paid full price. If I'd got it heavily reduced in a sale I think I would feel a lot more positive about it.

Saurus72 · 07/01/2021 15:28

Yes agree re: Kitri, the fabric was very synthetic on the dress I ordered and returned. It does seem to be really popular though and fashion journalists love it. I’m just a manic weirdo about natural fabrics...I’m the one checking labels in clothes shops (shops...I remember them...) and getting strange looks.

NoCureForLove · 07/01/2021 15:56

Yup. My Kitri experience was great style shit fabric...

parttimepunk · 07/01/2021 18:02

I've just had a further reductions email ... hopefully link attached below:

Fortherosesjoni70 · 07/01/2021 18:39

mm... they have reduced very little as usual though.
Drip feeding us the sale.

Saurus72 · 07/01/2021 18:48

Thanks @parttimepunk - I bought the dress I’ve been stalking for ages www.toa.st/uk/product/all+sale/c1pej/dropped+waist+dress.htm

I hoped it would be reduced more because I think it’s really suffered from the lack of photo on a model. I bought this last year too in the ‘black olive’ colour and I’ve worn it loads. Really easy to wear - cashmere cardi and knee boots and I’m cosy, comfy and dressy enough. V pleased!

Also, will comeback again later after dinner because there is new stock including the £345 dress from Sunday Times Style which was supposedly made to order but can’t see a reference to that www.toa.st/uk/product/womens+dresses+and+tunics/c1qbi/forte+ikat+wrap+dress.htm I may me reading it too quickly - trying to finish work before I faint with hunger - another 11 hour day 😒

parttimepunk · 07/01/2021 18:52

Ah that's v interesting. Made to order as opposed to made it measure. That's an eye watering price though.

I love the green dress Saurus. If the sleeves were a bit longer I'd but it. The colour is gorgeous.

Saurus72 · 07/01/2021 18:57

Eye watering is the word - At first glance I can’t see where it differs from a normal Toast dress tbh

Venusflytart · 07/01/2021 19:35

Just got an email from toast, further markdowns up to 50% now, hurray, but hat cost me £££ though. Yet finally got those Fine Stripe V Neck Tees in both colours!

Fortherosesjoni70 · 07/01/2021 19:37

I think all their new things have jumped up in price!

Fortherosesjoni70 · 07/01/2021 19:38

Striped cotton slub tee £85. I mean really??? Shock

Laska2Meryls · 07/01/2021 19:40

Love the new colourways in the new drop.. but prices gone up it seems,
the stripe Francis is lovely but , £75!

I love the dark red jeans ...

OP posts:
Venusflytart · 07/01/2021 19:42

Well, if the tee slubs, it is clearly worthy of £85 according to the people at Toast. Most people can buy food for two weeks for that, or a slubby tee. This is why I wait for the sales, and even then they are grossly overpriced. (What IS a 'slub tee' anyway?)

faustina · 07/01/2021 19:47

I always think slub means the fabric is a bit nobbly (to use a technical term) Smile. I'm not paying £85 for it though!

I've noticed the prices rising in other similar brands too - I was looking at Brora and they also have t-shirts for £80 something. It is quite mad

Saurus72 · 07/01/2021 20:09

Maybe the strategy is just to test pricing by pushing it up to the point at which people no longer buy. Maybe they’re counting on enough people who have kept their jobs, are not spending and want a distraction of nice clothes 🤷‍♀️

mizu · 07/01/2021 20:11

saurus72 I bought that dropped waist dress in black olive last year too and love it. The fabric is so swishy and beautiful that I find myself looking down at it while I'm wearing it and going ooh so nice Grin

Wear with a cardi or jumper and trainers of sandals. And wore to work with tights, Blundstones and a jumper when I was face to face teaching.

ToastCosILoveIt · 07/01/2021 20:18

I think Toast have lost the plot a bit. Their clothes were already highly priced and while we were prepared to pay them, they aren't always good value. We are going into an economic crisis, lots of people have lost jobs and lots will be working from home for months to come. The need for lovely office and going out clothes is reducing not increasing. Instead of putting up prices and creating a made to order range, they would have been better to focus on keeping prices stable and perhaps focused on a more relaxed range at slightly more affordable prices. As you say @parttimepunk, the made to order dress looks no different to their usual dresses.

Laska2Meryls · 07/01/2021 20:19

I cant see me wanting any T shirt enough to spend £75 or £85 on it !!

I would love the new Forte Ikat Jacket though, but id have to wear it everyday for at least 6 months to feel that it had started to justify its price.. (and in Tier 4 lockdown thats simply not going to happen .. unless I grace the local Co Op with it!! Grin.. Also its a bit parky out there atm..)

OP posts:
Saurus72 · 07/01/2021 20:55

@mizu It’s a really good dress isn’t it? I wondered if I might find it a bit nondescript but it was perfect for Saturdays in The Old World where we would go to a gallery, then dinner/drinks etc. Are you tempted by the green one?

BerniceBobsHerHair · 07/01/2021 21:21

I've been admiring that dress too. Just my usual question - how long is it??
The made to order dress - what happens when they have returns? I assume you would be able to return. Agree with toastcosiloveit about the direction they should go in instead

Templetree · 07/01/2021 21:33

Thanks for the heads up about new sale items.
Having said I wasnt buying any thing ...
Ive ordered the Garment dyed Linen square top in the red.
Went for a small based on reviews.
Also ordered the Garment dyed Linen side button dress in Charcoal .I really couldnt work out if I would be a S or M in this so ordered both and will return one.

Im goggling at the price of the Ikat made to order dress £345
Then I saw the cushions 😳
£345 then you go round to a friends for lunch and realise that you match their cushions.
Seriously!
There are a couple of things in the new collection I quite like but will wait until Spring

Grumbles.
No garment measurements .
Get rid of the what size am I thing.
Photographs are poor -a jumpsuit-photograph shows model crouching on steps?
The wierd drip, drip sale policy .
Really annoying.

mizu · 07/01/2021 21:36

saurus72 yes, tempted. Might size up though. Got an 8 before and I've hand washed and it has shrunk very slightly.

Saurus72 · 07/01/2021 21:58

@BerniceBobsHerHair this is a really crap photo of me wearing it which may/may not help because of the bad light. I’m 5ft 5, mid calf I’d say.
