I think you either have to be very lucky/ sit on the site permanently and/or get up very early for John Lewis.
Dress sounds lovely @lookingatthings

Laska2Meryls · 06/01/2021 12:53

I was just lucky I think, Toast is my JL landing page though it seems!

I was only looking last night because I wss having a price match argument with JL !! ( Josef Seibel boots) Which they did concede in the end Grin 👍

@lookingatthings, it helps to have dreadful insomnia and wake up at 4.32am each day! My first action is to take a peek at the JL Toast page...😅 (more out of curiosity, as I don’t want or need anything else now).

faustina · 06/01/2021 14:49

I'll tell you what's really lethal for a good night's sleep - having the JL app on your phone!

I'm getting ready to send a whole lot more back to Toast. The oversized alpaca cardigan is a (very very expensive!) weird shape - not oversized at all, and then suddenly, towards the bottom - absolutely huge! Love the Francis tee in khaki so am keeping that, and still wondering about this Alpaca Wool Marl Sweater in midnight. I really like the colour but am wondering if I can justify the cost which is still quite high!

In the meantime I've been cheating on toast with Brora - tried this fairisle jumper which is a lovely colour but the shape is just odd - very long in the body, yet quite fitted:

Brora fairisle. Tried it in two different sizes but have given up now.

I'm trying a couple more things from their sale which started today - an alpaca donegal coatigan and an alpaca fisherman rib jumper. Hoping their sizing is more accurate for them.

And I'm off to Waitrose now to pick up a couple of modern rarity things and some Kin balloon trousers and a pair of hiking boots

hmmm - can't seem to upload a pic of the toast jumper.. anyone else having problems?

lookingatthings · 06/01/2021 15:26

I've got dreadful pregnancy insomnia at the moment, but I've been filling the wee hours with bad 90s reruns 🤣. I'll be checking JL toast now. Sorry bank account

midsomermurderess · 06/01/2021 15:37

I have the Kin balloon trousers. I love them.

ToastCosILoveIt · 06/01/2021 15:38

@Countmeout, let me know what you think when they arrive.

@faustina, those balloon trousers look good, do they come up big? Also like this dress on Kin but sometimes they really let themsevles down with poor quality material in their dresses and tops. www.johnlewis.com/kin-textural-mark-making-print-dress-blue/p5290025

ToastCosILoveIt · 06/01/2021 15:43

@lookingatthings@loo, that Cocoa dress looks good. Is it true to size? Perhaps hard to tell for you if you are shortly to give birth! Also, is the bust tight as one of the reviews says?

ToastCosILoveIt · 06/01/2021 15:44

@midsomermurderess, what is the sizing like in the balloon trousers? Would a 10 fit a usual size 12 person?

faustina · 06/01/2021 15:53

@ToastCosILoveIt - I've wanted to try some for ages and suddenly there was one pair in a size 10 for twenty something quid so I went for it. I'm usually a 6/8 so it's a bit of a gamble. I think they're the navy ones? Happy to pass them onto someone here if they don't work for me

faustina · 06/01/2021 15:55

yes- also agree about the material. I don't buy the synthetic stuff - polyester etc

midsomermurderess · 06/01/2021 16:01

Toast I think they are true to size, they are quite snug at the waist.

Laska2Meryls · 06/01/2021 16:14

I have been looking at that Kin Making mark dress ToastcosIloveit

OP posts:
Countmeout · 06/01/2021 16:54

@ToastCosILoveIt maybe not me . I’ve managed not to buy anything else (well maybe a raincoat from Poetry managed to fall into a basket) - never bought from them before although often have looked.

faustina · 06/01/2021 17:21

The balloon trousers are nice, but way too big for me. If anyone wants them, let me know. They were £23.50

NewYearNewOldMe · 06/01/2021 17:25

@ToastCosILoveIt its not as generous in the chest as it could be- I'll be wearing a breastfeeding vest underneath it anyway so it's not a problem for me, but if you have anything over a c cup id say it would be very revealing- the wrap front is very low.

Its otherwise true to size I'd say. Although that's with alot of 'when this bump isn't in the way' estimation on my part. But the shoulders fit wonderfully so I think I'm pretty accurate.

ToastCosILoveIt · 06/01/2021 17:37

Thank you @NewYearNewOldMe and everyone else who answered my queries x

I’ve sent this dress back. The bottom half was perfect in size 10. I’m too busty for the top half, I could just about do up the inside button (it’s a faux wrap) but the front wrap part was cut too low for my cleavage. I think size 12 would be too full in the skirt; I can’t make this one work. Print was really nice though!

I would agree with you about Kin quality and fabrics.
I took a dress I got for £26.50 back, the fabric was awful, even at that price!
Im not a huge fan , its all enormous and I dont think its worth the price.
That tiered cord dress was the exception, it was very nice but not really my style.
I would rather buy something from Toast thats really lovely fabric and double the price but buy less .
Im not buying much atm .
I have plenty of summer clothes and several unworn Toast dresses .
Really annoying as I have around £200 left from Christmas gifts to spend !

Moominmammaatsea · 06/01/2021 18:37

@faustina, thanks so much for the Leach Pottery @ Seasalt recommendation. I ordered several mugs and I absolutely love them - they were £25 each, reduced to £19.95, and then were three-for-two. It felt almost rude to use a discount code I’d been sent, too! They have arrived in individual boxes in really attractive packaging and will make fabulous gifts for Mother’s Day and summer/Christmas gifts for DD1’s amazing SENCO.

I’ve also ordered a set for myself! And now I’m definitely covering the Toast/Leach nesting bowls. They are a thing of beauty.

In Toast news, I succumbed to Lockdown 3 depression and ordered a wool/cashmere jumper in Pear that randomly appeared in my size at 4.32am on the JL Toast site. I took it as a sign it was meant to be...Grin

faustina · 06/01/2021 18:53

@Moominmammaatsea - so pleased they're a success! We need all the joy we can get right now - wherever it comes from!

Laska2Meryls · 07/01/2021 11:06
