I like that striped t-shirt @Laska2Meryls. I think you have the short/cap sleeved very similar one, same as me? Is the new one above the same thickness?

I've just returned a massive sack full of Toast misses - all the striped tees (ok but still not really worth it) - the loop back smock top (too big and too thin), the sale Gansey (too big and unflattering) and the non-sale Gansey (exchanging for a small)

I kept the navy tencel top. Still waiting for a few more jumpers to try - oh and I bought this from JL - it's their Modern Rarity label, and it's really lovely! Also down to £42 now, though I paid £70:

I have just received my trailing leaves dress and I’m so pleased with it ( especially at the sale price) - it hangs beautifully and is a flattering shape. The ecru background is also a softer look than the website photograph suggested. Thanks to everyone who posted reviews of it and the advice to size down !

FiddleFigs · 04/01/2021 17:36

@BerniceBobsHerHair - I’m 5’10” and it’s midi length on me - about an inch or so below the knee, bit longer at the back. The 10 is quite a neat fit at the shoulders - I don’t think I could layer much underneath tbh, but it balances the A-line shape nicely.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 04/01/2021 19:43

Ah thanks for replying @FiddleFigs - sounds like it could work for me as I like a longer midi length (I am much shorter than you). Will keep an eye out for a 12.

Isn’t it just lovely? I didn’t get the advice to size down, but there was only one size 10 left so I grabbed it before it disappeared!
Gonegrey31 · 04/01/2021 22:43

AuldFox it has really given me a boost today amongst all the gloomy news . I’ve been buying Toast dresses for many many years and this is going to be a favourite. So glad you share my view . The tie belt will pull it in for you for a closer fit no doubt .

AuldFox · 04/01/2021 22:52

So happy you love it too gonegrey

I shall use the belt with abandon! I’m really not a size 10, but Toast dresses are generously sized indeed (apart from the coco leaf dress, that one has a close fitting inner button, be warned!)

Saurus72 · 05/01/2021 11:50

A few more things have been added to the sale - still disappointing IMHO...

AmethystMoonShine · 05/01/2021 12:57

Thanks @Saurus72 I wouldn’t have looked without your message and I nabbed a pair of the IDE PJs in M... a return I suspect as I missed the PJs when they first went on sale.

AmethystMoonShine · 05/01/2021 12:58

Agree though the additional items are barely noticeable Sad

Saurus72 · 05/01/2021 13:17

@AmethystMoonShine Always happy to help other people spend money 😉

applecatchers36 · 05/01/2021 13:35

Have just looked again at sale and ordered some PJ's & the denim dress, then the wide leg side button jeans not in the sale, both denim in indigo. Will see if any of it is for keeping!

Gonegrey31 · 05/01/2021 13:58

Thanks Saurus I have ordered a denim dress that I missed back in the summer !

Laska2Meryls · 05/01/2021 17:52

ametyhstmoonshine the ide PJs do come up smaller in the top., I had some for christmas ( actualy wearing them right now after my shower!) .
I had to size up to the L , and tbh i could have had the XL in the top (I am quite busty) if I had actually wanted to sleep in them, except the trousers would have been huge . I have sent an XL in navy back today .

I ordered a cord long tunic shirt , just saw it in the sale, id never seen it before , then noticed the reviews are from 2018 !!

@Laska2Meryls thanks for the info on the Ide PJs Smile much appreciated Smile I’m hoping M will be ok. Fingers crossed. I’m usually an S in Toast nightwear but had to size up to M in the Ide nightshirts. Sent an S back today. I’m not blessed in the bust department but do have a wide back.... so hopefully I’ll get away with an M.....

ToastCosILoveIt · 05/01/2021 19:28

Well, I never thought i would say it but I am almost Toasted out! I have had a look at the sale again and while I really like the ginger cord dress, i don't really need it. The velvet junpsuit has gone in a size 12 so it wasn't meant to be for me and I am sure I can live without it anyway.

The last of the sale packages arrived today - the gold wide trousers, the lovely stripe cotton pyjamas (the fabric is to die for), the ruffle hem skirt in breen and the silk dupion blouse. I haven't tried any of them on yet as I have been working but will feed back on whether they are keepers.

I have had the brushed cotton satin jumpsuit in dull gold in my basket for a couple of weeks but contemplating if I really need it. I don't know about all of you but Boris' announcement last night made me think "where am i going to wear all of these clothes"? I am on Teams and Zoom meetings almost all day for my job and get dressed as if I am going into the office but how much can you wear and even some of Toast styles begin to feel dated after a couple of years (there are exceptions to that of course).

The Made to Order range is going to have to be very special to get some sales in this climate. I will be interested to see what the six pieces look like but there are no big weddings, parties or holidays coming up any time soon for any of us so investment or big purchases are even less likely. Sorry, hope I am not sounding too doom and gloom but I am sure we are all a little deflated after last night. Of course it is the right thing to do if we are going to get on top of this virus so I am not complaining but it is hard for everyone.

ToastCosILoveIt · 05/01/2021 19:29

Mind you, I love this skirt but what a price! It is definitely one to try on when the shops open again as fit will be everything with it.

Saurus72 · 05/01/2021 19:46

@ToastCosILoveIt I completely agree - I have 2 lovely Toast dresses that I have worn once each since buying them last summer/autumn. Together they cost over £300 so it’s really hard to 1)Justify more purchases and 2) Get excited about buying things when I’m pretty sure it will be Summer before I will really go anywhere 🙁. I love clothes, and in the summer when we could go to the seaside at weekends it was v cheery to wear nice clothes. Now and for the foreseeable, we’re going nowhere at all. So I think I have all the clothes I need to do that. Boo 😒

Laska2Meryls · 05/01/2021 19:58

Amethyst sounds like the M will ne fine for you then , I am a generous 36E on top ! was surprised though to find the L in Ide PJs really only roomy enough for lounging, but I think if I tried to sleep in them i they would feel to tight .. I really needed a M in bottoms and an XL in the top..!

No dress buying for me either this sale.. I still have ones from last Spring sale hardly unworn.. ! (and I still haven't worn the lovely pinwheel dress, which i had bought for a (covid- cancelled) wedding

Oooh @ToastCosILoveIt. Can you tell me more about the gold wide leg trews? I've been eyeing them up. How shiny? How long? How neat / big? TIA. Smile

NoCureForLove · 05/01/2021 21:34

I'm v wary of dry clean only. But could make an exception for something lovely...

ToastCosILoveIt · 05/01/2021 22:39

@NoCureForLove, i bought the blue version and as soon as i tried them on I ordered the gold one too. That must say how much I liked them.

I am a 12 generally and bought a 12. As with lots of Toast's skirts and trousers, the waist is snug. They fit and I can do them up but I am doing low carb boot camp and need to shift the 4lb from Christmas and another 5 or 6 lbs. Once I have done that the waist won't be snug!

They are mid shin and fairly neat in fit: they will need a good iron but I think they will good with DMs and a jumper or dressed up for evening with ankle boots with a heel and a silk shirt or cashmere fitted jumper. They are definitely a statement piece and the reviews are pretty good - love the one where she wore them to sightsee around Copenhagen and felt she fitted right in!

They are sheeny more thann shiny if that makes sense?

NoCureForLove · 05/01/2021 22:52

Thanks so much - I'm going to press the button!

lookingatthings · 06/01/2021 12:28

My Coco leaf dress came today and it's BEAUTIFUL. I can even get away with wearing it in my current 11w till a birth what can only be a baby elephant (inside button undone). I'm chuffed.

Is there a trick I'm missing to toast on JL? Every time I search (the last few days) I just see the same three tops, and never the trousers or dresses that pp are mentioning.
