That gorgeous dress I loved in the summer is half price....

Hi TOASTies 😘

BerniceBobsHerHair · 03/01/2021 11:27

Which dress is that @goldpendant ?

@Moominmammaatsea I am tempted by the indigo dress. Let me know if you get it, I would like to know how long it is. I like the links you posted on the MH thread. One of the brands seems reasonably priced considering how they are made.

Love that review. Hope it is real, by someone living their best toast life Grin

goldpendant · 03/01/2021 14:52

The Maeva Check. I loved it online, but I went to see it in store and it was more red than pink, but for £75 I'm tempted! LOVE LOve love my Toast summer dresses more than anything!

Countmeout · 03/01/2021 15:53

Oh yes @goldpendant it looks beautiful.

ToastCosILoveIt · 03/01/2021 17:26

The Times Style magazine is saying that Toast will launch its first Made to Order collection next week consisting of its six most popular pieces. It shows a wrap over dress: price £345.

faustina · 03/01/2021 17:55

interesting! I wonder which the six pieces will be? And in which way they mean made to order?

Countmeout · 03/01/2021 18:42

Is it a particular style of wrap over dress @ToastCosILoveIt?
Price would be prohibitive for me, and what if it didn’t fit or look right on? Nightmare.

ToastCosILoveIt · 03/01/2021 19:43

There's very little detail: it just descibes it as "capsule dressing at its easiest". Here is a picture of the dress which looks quite like (in design) the cotton linen wrap front dress that is never in the sale.

As you say, how will they make it work? Perhaps you will need to visit a store to be professionally measured.

@Countmeout, @ToastCosILoveIt, here is a screenshot of the full piece from today’s Sunday Times Style magazine. As you say, it begs more questions than it answers. I do think that dress is beautiful, though. I shall be intrigued to find out more but, personally speaking, finances and circumstances dictate that I stick to my current M.O. of hoovering up beautiful Toast garments in the JL 70% off sale or the Toast sale, with the exception of incredibly well considered full price purchases. I will look forward to hearing more about the Made to Order service.

Moominmammaatsea · 03/01/2021 20:41

@faustina, sorry, meant to tag you too!

Countmeout · 03/01/2021 20:58

Yes looks lovely, apart from being far too expensive I never would be in a Toast shop apart from once a year maybe.

I like the scarf/shawl thing though. I wonder will it be six pieces all to mix and match perfectly.
Did you mean to attach a picture @Moominmammaatsea?

faustina · 03/01/2021 21:03

@Moominmammaatsea - thanks for tagging me - could you please try again? I'd be really interested to see it - mind you, I have so many things yet to be worn once the weather gets a bit more forgiving, it's unlikely I'm going to be in the market for much else!

Saurus72 · 03/01/2021 22:31

I kind of like the idea of made to order but what I really like about buying Toast clothes in the sales (as well as the odd full price purchase if I just can’t wait until sale time) is that I can really enjoy the beautiful clothes safe in the knowledge they didn’t cost a fortune. I just can’t see me wearing a £350 dress in the same way. Even if I could pay that much for one thing (which I can’t!). Quite intrigued by what else they might do now though. Definitely looking forward to seeing the new collection.

Laska2Meryls · 04/01/2021 10:54

I dont think that I would buy made to order , unless something really classic which would be a considered purchase..And also I could be assured of fit. I did buy trousers from Article Green , but the prices there are comparable to Toast anyway (and I was able to request a change to waist size) .

Still so disappointed in this sale though, but perhaps they will add more. Having said that though the only thing I think that I would buy is one of the Elena linen shirts now

I agree @Laska2Meryls it feels like an end of Summer sale because there is so little of their Autumn or Winter stock in it. I’d put some money aside to spend on Toast but I’ve spent most of it elsewhere now.
It feels like they’re trying to clear old stock before they put more recent stock into the sale....or maybe they just won’t reduce it. I wondered if in light of Covid they were able to reduce the amount of winter stock they ordered snd so maybe there’s not much to clear? There have been a lot of full price lines selling out, but maybe that always happens and I’ve not noticed before?

AuldFox · 04/01/2021 11:43

I think they probably ordered lower amounts of winter stock. I got the trailing leaf dress finally, it sold out in the first run, was in the sale for about 0.2 milliseconds and I nabbed one. It’s a bit too big but I’m keeping it because it’s gorgeous.

AFingerofFudge · 04/01/2021 11:49

Morning all, sorry I haven't posted in a while, I do keep up with the thread, however in the light of the disappointing sale, I haven't much to report on the clothes buying! I did buy the Mira jumper in the green/heather colour and it's lovely, beautifully soft. But agree with the comments about it not feeling like a "proper" sale.

I've been looking in my wardrobe and thinking about how much my style has changed in the last couple of years, compared to the 30 before that! (I'm 50)

I was a disinterested jeans and a jumper type until I started buying clothes from Hush, and then gradually Toast. I do like a bit of the wackiness of Lucy & Yak but it has to be when I'm in the mood.
Have any of you bought anything from me & em?? I've started looking at their clothes in recent weeks, and really like the idea of a casual suit, with a jumper or hoody, which is the look me&em seem to go for. I love this suit that I've attached. I think I'd like it just to wear every day. DS3 who is 12 loves "dressing up smart"'and has spent the entire Christmas holidays, whether he's in the field playing football, or lounging around the house, wearing a suit, including tie and waistcoat!! (Thank you Next sale!)
So maybe I should join him in the suit but casual look?

Saurus72 · 04/01/2021 12:25

I looked at my orders from Toast’s last winter sale and the last date I placed an order was January 15th. So if they run it in a similar way this year there’s at least another 1.5 weeks to go which (hopefully) means more reductions and new things added. I would like to buy at least one more dress!

Countmeout · 04/01/2021 12:31

23rd January last year sale order for me - palm print dress and Darcy jacket. The week before I ordered a sweater dress which had popped up randomly. Maybe there’ll be more when Christmas Returns filter through.
That’s a beautiful colour @AFingerofFudge, but I look like a man in a suit like that, tried them (in the 90’s) 🤦‍♀️

FiddleFigs · 04/01/2021 13:59

My first sale order just arrived. The marmalade easy wool sweater is just what I was hoping it would be (and very cosy) - I'd been stalking it full-price so am pleased to got it on sale - great length for longer torsos/tall folk.

I also got the indigo belted denim shirt dress - had to size down to a 10 as 12 was sold out, but it's a good fit and a really lovely weight.

I only really started wearing Toast last year, and somehow I've already accumulated 4 denim dresses (all sale) and they are all such good dresses.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 04/01/2021 14:20

Ooh how long is it @FiddleFigs? I am keen on it too but think I would need a 12 which is oos. I am partial to a denim dress too, easy to wear and versatile.

Saurus72 · 04/01/2021 14:58

@FiddleFigs I bought the denim coat dress in September and it’s already earned it’s keep. Plus I have two denim pinafores from a few years ago which keep going too. Toast denim is amazing quality, it just doesn’t die although their black denim looks pretty ‘worn in’ after not very long!

Saurus72 · 04/01/2021 14:59

Oh god, an errant ‘it’s where it should be ‘its’ 🙄

Laska2Meryls · 04/01/2021 15:14

Here are my latest purchases worn with the Article Green skirt (with cord leggings under because its too cold to get properly undressed!! )
Cream cotton linen grandad tee ( looks better irl ) and striped boat neck tee .. keeping both.

Someone on here wanted the fairisle jumper - the lovely blue/green/mushroom one? There's one left in a medium in the toast sale!
