Baby has ruined my wife's hair

Hi,

My wifes hair is really dry, quite tangled and needs some TLC (her words not mine fyi)

Are there any products/shampoo's etc I can get for her? At the moment we just get one from Aldi.

Price isn't an issue.

How do you know its because of the baby? 🙄
Strange thing to say!

AnyFucker · 28/10/2020 08:27
Confused
Martinisarebetterdirty · 28/10/2020 08:31

Olaplex 3 - you can get from cult beauty or space nk. If she’s just had a baby get her some lovely aromatherapy associates relax bath oil too.

Lindy2 · 28/10/2020 08:36

Perhaps pregnancy has had an impact on your wife's hair but it seems odd to specifically say your baby has ruined it. Your baby isn't to blame.

If your wife has recently given birth it's not unusual to have some hair loss or weakness.

Healthy food and a healthy lifestyle will help. Perhaps a hair mask to add back some moisture.

Pbbananabagel · 28/10/2020 08:37

If price is no object- get Aveda damage remedy. There’s a shampoo, conditioner and treatment masque. If you can’t afford all of them, just get the masque, it’s seriously expensive but if you get the set it will genuinely last Up to 6 months On long (nearly waist length) hair.

Sparklfairy · 28/10/2020 08:37

Most likely it's the DW that has said this out of frustration, don't have a go at the OP!

stillfeelingmad · 28/10/2020 08:38

Can't believe people are picking at him saying the baby ruined it. It's well known that hair suffers post partum Hmm

Lush are well known for their smelly bath stuff but actually have a really great hair range. The company owner studied trichology (hair care) for years before starting lush.
Also a second vote for olaplex.

Can you treat her to a head massage? Super relaxing and great for stimulating blood flow to scalp for healthy hair

Hohohole · 28/10/2020 08:39

Olaplex no 3. Leave it on for an hour on damp hair then wash and condition. Makes my hair feel like I've just been for a cut.

Greypurse · 28/10/2020 08:41

Aussie 3 minute miracle is nice, cheap and leaves hair really soft. Pop it on (pay special attention to the mid and ends) after a shampoo, wrap hair in cling film/shower cap/towel. Leave on for an hour or so and wash off. Do once a week. Notice a difference in a few weeks. Have the baby so she can do this in peace.

Frdd · 28/10/2020 08:43

Why isn’t your wife asking?

BadDucks · 28/10/2020 08:47

I use Aussie shampoo and conditioner day to day and their 3 minute miracle treatment once in a while. Not massively expensive. Could you treat her to a salon treatment? Without knowing her hair type and the actual condition she might do better to have a professional advise.
It’s not uncommon for hair to change during pregnancy. Mine fell out in clumps but fortunately I have ridiculously thick hair so no long term issue. My sisters hair is very thin on top now and has never recovered.

Thisisnotnormal69 · 28/10/2020 08:48

Jeez people, don’t be nasty for the sake of it!

I would also recommend olaplex. Or book an appointment at the hairdressers for a nice wash and style too?

CardiganBlobby · 28/10/2020 08:51

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer is an excellent hair treatment to re add moisture back into hair.

Palavah · 28/10/2020 08:53

@Frdd

Why isn’t your wife asking?
Maybe she's feeding the baby?
NCNCNNC · 28/10/2020 08:56

@Frdd
Why isn’t your wife asking?

I assume his (if OP is a man, she's mentioned it and he wants to do something nice for her?!). Some people on here will try and pick faults in everything...how bitter and boring.

Sorry OP have no advice .... In the same boat - currently pregnant with our second and my hair has suffered this pregnancy. At least there will be limited trips out in public this time around!

JemimaTiggywinkle · 28/10/2020 08:56

Agree with recommendations for Aussie 3 minute miracle.
Or if you can actually go into a Lush store and describe your wife’s hair they’ll be able to recommend something.

I’m sure she’ll appreciate the thought even if it isn’t exactly the right product.

FreeAcorns · 28/10/2020 08:59

Omega 3 supplement.
Post-natal vitamin, important for all but especially if breastfeeding.
Drink lots of water.
I think treating hair and skin issues needs to come as much from what goes into the body as on it.
Decent, shorter haircut may well help while waiting for hair to recover from pregnancy.

LeaveMyDamnJam · 28/10/2020 09:02

Shu uemera. The best by a mile in my book.

MonicaBelulaGellar · 28/10/2020 09:08

Honestly what's wrong with some people. You know full well what he meant!

Try olaplex 3,4 & 5. You can get it on look fantastic. It's about £80 for the 3 bottles x

NancysDream · 28/10/2020 09:13

I like Aussie products, they are more expensive than Aldi or whatever, but are the closest to professional standard at home I've come across, and the products go a lot longer. They helped my hair regrow after a lot of it fell out, and the new hair is stronger than the hair before. I do take vitamins for hair, skin and nails and make sure to get plenty of omega 3 and fat in my diet. We think about putting coconut oil and things on the outside of the hair, but really it's an inside job.

My biggest advice would be for her to get lots of rest, let her have a lie in, a relaxing bath and a nice scalp massage (or conditioning treatment at the hairdressers). Ultimately hair, like nails and skin, often shows stress, even if she doesn't seem stressed the physical stress of growing and giving birth to a baby, as well as breastfeeding if she is (in which case make her some breastfeeding cookies with some flax seed to boost her energy and omega 3).

Painsnail · 28/10/2020 09:14

Take the baby for a couple of hour and book her a hair appointment?

PinkyX · 28/10/2020 09:15

Olaplex n3 as PP has said makes you feel like you've just left the salon.
Also I think your lovely for doing this for your wife Smile

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 28/10/2020 09:24

Well you got her pregnant so it's you that ruined her hair.

Post baby, hair and nail vitamins can make a big difference.
